Chapter 372: Romance Novels Do Poison Your Mind

Chapter 372: Romance Novels Do Poison Your Mind

In the hotel of the Jorgansen Group.

When Riya heard what the receptionist had told her, indignation was written on her face.

"What did Hilla mean? Why didn’t she tell me that she’d checked out?"

They had decided to go back to River City together, but in the end, Hilla checked out and left first.

Hilla left Riya to be with Stefan. It was just like a rabbit had fallen into a wolf’s den.

Riya was now in his clutches.

Standing beside Riya, Stefan was indifferent to her words. He kept a straight face as usual.

In her eyes, it was as if he was suffering facial paralysis. She really wanted to tell him that now this kind of overbearing manner was not popular at all.

"It’s your fault."

Riya said through gritted teeth.

If Stefan were not so tall and strong, she would have rushed over to bite him.

Stefan took back the ID card from the receptionist and said to Riya, "Let’s go."

"I don’t want to return to River City now."

Riya’s depressed voice sounded. Stefan stopped in his tracks and turned around to look at her. There was a trace of inquiry in his eyes.

Didn’t she just make a fuss about going back to River City? She changed her mind so easily. Were all women so fickle?

He walked forward and placed the ID card back at the front desk. "A suite."

Riya was stunned. She seemed to know what he was going to do. She quickly took back the ID card and stuffed it back into his pocket.

"I don’t want to live here."

"Then where do you want to live?"

"Toulon!"

Riya raised her eyebrows, a hint of pride on her face.

She wanted to find Hilla and get rid of Stefan.

As expected, Stefan frowned, and a gloomy look flashed in his eyes. He replied without thinking, "No."

Stefan hated the language of Toulon. More than ten years ago, he went to Toulon to

travel with Riya and they got separated. At that time, he spent too much effort to find her.

From then on, Stefan had never gone to Toulon and also did not allow her to go there.

"You can look for a guide if you don’t understand its language. You have so many capable subordinates in your company. You can find someone who’s good at its language to go with us."

"For a business trip. You can pay him."

Riya did not have any worry. She had nothing much to do in the country. And she was afraid that she would probably be depressed if she stayed with Stefan for too long.

If she was angered to the point of depression, it would be big trouble. "No."

Without thinking, Stefan turned around and grabbed Riya’s wrist, saying in a low voice, "Since you don’t want to stay in the hotel, let’s go home together."

Go home?

"Your home or my home?"

Riya asked and then Stefan stopped in his tracks. He turned around and gave her a meaningful look.

"Either of them." Riya had guessed his reply.

Riya could not accept his reply.

"I don’t want to go to your home," Riya whispered.

She raised her head and met his gaze. She immediately added, "I can’t go to my home either."

She already knew what Stefan was thinking.

Carl had been urging her to get married, especially these years. He was old and was urgent about it.

When he heard that Bruce had two sons, he almost jumped up with his walking stick.

He even wanted to force her to get married as soon as possible.

She knew the result of going back home with Stefan.

A bad result.

"Alright. We’re not going."

Riya did not expect Stefan to reply so quickly. The excitement on her face was mixed with some suspicion.

"You’re serious?"

Stefan adjusted his clothes and then lowered his head to look at her. "If I say I want to go, do you agree?"

"Of course not."

Without any hesitation, Riya got into Stefan’s car.

She knew Stefan was actually threatening her.

If she went to Toulon now, he would probably go to her home and talk cheerfully with her grandfather in a few hours.

What a sinister man!

Riya went to see Margaret.

When she saw that Margaret was still sleeping in the quilt, she looked surprised.

"My poor girl, you just got married, and Julian has made you ’suffer’ to the point of not getting out of bed."

Squatting by Margaret’s bedside, Riya stretched out her hand to pull away a part of the quilt as she spoke. She raised her eyebrows and looked into it.

When she saw that Margaret was dressed in pajamas, she could not help rolling her eyes.

"What? Julian is really impotent. He didn’t even take off your clothes."

Margaret rolled her eyes and slapped Riya’s hand away. "What nonsense are you talking about? I just woke up early and was too sleepy. So I went to bed again."

"You woke up early?"

Riya looked at Margaret’s clothes and sized them up. The corners of her lips curled up as she moved closer to Margaret.

"You two didn’t do enough last night and started morning exercise early in the morning?"

"Shut up!"

Margaret got up from the bed, looking tired. On her neck, a kiss mark was particularly conspicuous.

Riya clicked her tongue and then laughed meaningfully.

"Stop it. Why don’t you look at yourself?"

Margaret glared at Riya with disdain. "Don’t think that I don’t know anything. Your clothes hide all," Margaret said inwardly.

Riya tugged at her collar and looked away. Margaret couldn’t help letting out a loud laugh.

"Julian is impotent. Fine. Mr. Key is not? You must be very disappointed that you can still get out of bed after that. Speaking of which, it must be because you are not

attractive and have no fatal attraction to Stefan. Or is it because you are old?"

"Margaret!"

Riya’s proudness suddenly became anger.

"Who did you learn this from? Now you speak in such a shameless way. If Bruce knows..."

"So what if my brother knows? Anyway, I’m married now. He can’t control me."

Margaret sat in front of the dressing table. Looking at her beautiful face in the mirror, she was in a good mood.

How could she be so beautiful that Julian was obsessed with her?

"You dare to be so arrogant after getting married? You pig head, I think you are hopeless."

Riya angrily poked the back of Margaret’s head.

"You’re just jealous of my marriage."

Margaret touched the back of her head and muttered with an unhappy expression, "You and Stefan have been together for so many years, but he has never proposed to you. I think you two will be always like this. Mr. Key is handsome and rich, and there are many young and beautiful women who like him. You are old and have a bad temper. Sooner or later, he’ll dislike you."

"Damn girl. You are going to get a hit."

Riya tried to hit Margaret and Margaret instantly jumped up from her chair. "Think carefully. This is my territory now. If you dare to touch me, Julian will not let you go."

Riya said inwardly, "You wretched girl, you only slept with Julian for a few days, and now you’re closer to him than me."

...

Margaret watched as Riya drove away. The proud smile instantly vanished from her face.

One by one, everyone around her left after her wedding.

Did she lose all her relatives and friends as soon as she got married?

Margaret was bored and stayed in the room. When the maid delivered the drink to her, she could not help but remind Margaret, "Mrs. Jorgansen, aren’t you going out to take a look?"

"What’s there to see?"

Margaret listlessly nestled in bed.

There was no one to hang out with her. From now on, she would be a pet of Julian. It was quite depressing.

"Evan just got someone to set up a greenhouse yesterday. He said you liked it. It’s in the rose garden. Mrs. Jorgansen, why don’t you go take a look?"

Over the past few days, the servants had discovered that Mrs. Jorgansen not only had a good temper but was also very easy-going.

She never put on the airs of a mistress. Instead, she was as disobedient as a child and was often lectured by their young master.

"A greenhouse?"

Margaret sat up on the bed and frowned. "What greenhouse?"

"The glasshouse is like a crystal castle. There is a beautiful swing outside. We are all envious and looking forward that you could take us to play."

The little maid blushed slightly with excitement.

Julian had specially instructed Evan to build it. The servants didn’t dare to play on it before Margaret.

"The weather is so nice today. Mr. Jorgansen was afraid that you would feel hot, so he planted a tree in the garden. I heard that the big tree was transported from a very long away. And it is so wide. It must be over hundreds of years."

"Transplanting such a big tree here to keep the sun off. Mrs. Jorgansen was indeed a princess on the pea. The life of those young ladies from rich families is way beyond my imagination," thought the maid.

Seeing the little maid was so excited, Margaret got up from the bed. Since it was so hot outside, she did not want to go out before. But now she had a second thought.

She decided to go and take a look, just for the girls.

"Go to the kitchen and get us some snacks. Let’s go have afternoon tea," she said to the maid.

Margaret took out clothes from the wardrobe while thinking to herself,

Forget it. I am so bored. I can do this for these little maids. Just make them happy.>

Upon hearing that they could go and play, the little maid immediately smiled happily. She actively helped Margaret take the clothes and do her hair. She even called a few of her companions to join them.

Margaret never cared about identity or social status. She also had a close relationship with the servants of the Andersons. She had played with them since she was a child.

Back then, Bruce was unwilling to play with her. And now, Julian also could not accompany her. Indeed, girls could never join the games of the boys.

The rose garden was just below Margaret’s room.

However, Margaret had been a little depressed these past two days and had never discovered it.

When she followed the little maid over, she was stunned by the scene that the tall tree spread dappled shadows on the rose bed under the dazzling light.

"Mrs. Jorgansen, look! It is so beautiful."

There was a white swing suspended on the tree, swaying leisurely in the wind.

The grass and flowers were just sprayed. The beads of water dispersed the summer heat.

The thick charming rose scent filled in the air. The fragrance was not offensive but clean.

The tall glass room reflected a colorful light, sparkling between the leaves.

Margaret covered up the surprise in her eyes and slowly walked over.

The corners of her lips curled up slightly, but she held it back.

"Isn’t it just a small garden? How can it make you so happy?" she snorted.

After that, she sat on the swing, and the little maid behind her slowly pushed her.

Margaret coughed uncomfortably and said with a straight face, "Push me higher."

"Do I look like a timid lady? It’s more fun when swing higher," she murmured.

Waves of joyful laughter of women spread out the quiet yard. The mysterious and silent ’castle’ was now more charming and lively.

As evening approached, a car drove in from outside.

Evan rushed forward and opened the car door.

A man got off the car and looked up at the familiar window.

Looking at the dark window, he frowned slightly and said, "Where’s Margaret?"

"Mrs. Jorgansen stayed with a few maids in the garden for the day. She’s sleeping in the glass room now."

Evan looked troubled. He did not dare to wake Margaret up, so he could only let her sleep inside.

It was hot today, but there was an air conditioner in the rose room. Besides, he had the maids take care of Margaret, so she would not catch a cold.

The man stopped in his tracks. In the next second, he turned around and walked towards the rose room.

In the glasshouse, there were all kinds of precious plants, mainly roses. Unlike domestic roses, these flowers were bigger and had longer flowering periods. The entire greenhouse was like a kingdom of flowers.

And the flower fairy was sleeping on the soft couch in the room.

When the maids saw Julian enter, their faces immediately turned tense.

Margaret was easy to get along with but Julian was an unsmiling man.

Although he was good-looking, he still looked scary when he remained a poker face.

Julian let the servants leave. Looking at the woman who was sleeping soundly, he reached out and pinched her rosy face. His gaze fell on the book in her hand.

It was a stupid romance novel. Clearly, Margaret enjoyed it. She had got through half.

"Wake up."

"What are you doing?"

The woman slapped his hand away and turned over in disgust. She muttered something in a low voice, making Julian a little annoyed.

"Are you a pig? You sleep all day. If you sleep at this time, you won’t be able to sleep at night."

Julian said as he pulled her out of the blanket.

The next second, Margaret knocked her head on his shoulder and wrapped her arms around his neck. She whispered, "It’s your fault. You get me so tired. If I don’t sleep now, how can I handle with you at night?"

The corners of Julian’s mouth curled up into a slight smile, and he quickly concealed it.

He frowned and pushed the woman in his arms in disgust. He felt that the arms around his neck were tightened.

"If you don’t get up, you’ll have to play with me here."

"Julian, can’t you feel embarrassed?"

Margaret immediately raised her head and glared at the man with a face full of condemnation.

He always used this kind of thing to scare her.

The man smiled and met Margaret’s dark eyes.

He was the only one in her bright eyes.

"Get up. Did you roll around in the pig shed today? Get up and take a shower."

He stood up and threatened the woman who was about to lie back down, "If you don’t move, don’t blame me for doing something here."

"What’s the big deal? Don’t you only have one more flesh than me? Why are you so arrogant?"

The woman got up from the bed while cursing and walking out of the door.

Just as she reached the door, she suddenly thought of something. She ran to the man and directly fell into Julian’s arms.

"I’m dizzy and need a hug from my husband."

Julian pushed Margaret’s head away and sneered, "You must have read too many novels. Romance novels do poison your mind!"
