Chapter 316: I’m Mom’s Favorite Baby
Chapter 316: I’m Mom’s Favorite Baby
...
Margaret stared at the face and gradually came to recognize him.
Julian suddenly revealed a faint smile before she could say anything. She also heard him saying something in a deep and charming voice.
Then she came to her sense and sat up.
So Julian stepped aside.
"Why are you here?"
She then looked around and asked, "Where am I?"
Wasn’t she in the courtyard? She remembered that she went to the washroom at night hit her head.
Thinking of that, Margaret touched her bandaged head. It was painful and then she felt dizzy.
"You’re hurt. Don’t move."
Julian went forward to hold Margaret’s head and asked her to lie down again.
With indifference on his face, he gave her a cold glance and said, "What a good job. You’re concussed merely for going to the bathroom."
"You ... how dare you laugh at me? None of your business."
It was her head, not his.
However, she was quite upset once she thought about the snake in the bathroom and that ugly black snake in her dream.
So she was also annoyed with Julian.
"Why? It’s not a good idea for me to have a silly wife. It’s bad for the family reputation."
Julian said calmly. Hearing his sarcastic words, Margaret felt more upset.
He implied that she was a fool!
He was bullying her!
"Well, your family does like me and I don’t want to marry you, either."
"Unfortunately, it’s too late to regret. It relates to the reputation of the two families. As the daughter of the Anderson family, I believe that you’ll give priority to your family reputation, right?"
Margaret was driven mad. When she was about to argue, Julian continued to say, "We both have to sacrifice something, for our mutual benefits. But obviously, I’ll sacrifice more."
Anyway, he nearly married a fool.
"You sacrifice?"
Lying on the bed, Margaret held her forehead.
After a while, she beckoned to Julian.
Julian was obedient. He walked close to the bed and bent over.
As soon as he got close to her, Margaret punched his face. But Julian dodged and grasped her wrist. Margaret couldn’t move.
"You’re a patient. I told you not to move."
Julian looked serious as if he was blaming.
Looking at the wound on her forehead, he tried to calm down.
"That’s because of you. Who asked you to come?"
"You don’t want to see me?"
"Yes!" Margaret nodded.
Julian let go of her hand and stood up straight. He then smoothed his suit and glanced at her.
"You’re concussed. You need a good rest on the bed. Follow the doctors’ words or you may swoon and come to the hospital again."
He was going to leave. Margaret asked him anxiously, "Where is Bruce? Why isn’t he here?"
Margaret thought that Bruce and Hilla should look after her since she got injured.
"I don’t know!" Julian left the ward.
It was three days later that Margaret came to know that Bruce, her dear brother, continued his honeymoon with Hilla after she was sent to the hospital.
And certainly, she was left to Julian.
"It’s too unfortunate!" Margaret thought.
...
In the car back to River City, Margaret tapped her phone unwillingly. However, Hilla didn’t reply, so she sent it to Halle, feeling a little discouraged. "Halle, where are you?"
Margaret’s voice was not loud, but it was enough for Julian, who was driving in the front, to hear it.
The man’s voice came from the front. "Be good. You’ll feel dizzy if you look at your phone in a car."
And she had a concussion.
Margaret looked up at him and got angry.
She rolled her eyes and snapped, "I’m happy to be dizzy. It’s none of your business." As soon as Margaret finished speaking, the car jolted rhythmically.
The wheels pressed against the high-speed vibration benchmark. She didn’t know whether it was intentional or not.
Margaret suddenly felt dizzy with a concussion, and she quickly fell into the back seat.
Even the arrogant look she had just now completely disappeared.
In the face of a concussion, she had no power.
"I already said that you’ll get dizzy while looking at the phone in the car."
Julian’s voice came again. Margaret angrily pointed at the man sitting in front of her.
She gritted her teeth and said, "Don’t think I don’t know you did it on purpose."
"Yes, it was intentional."
"You..."
Not only did he do bad things, but he even dared to admit it so frankly. His attitude was even more arrogant than hers.
Margaret covered her head and felt her head hurt even more.
Then she held her head and buried her face in the back seat. She did not make a sound for a long time.
"What’s wrong?"
Usually, Julian was used to this woman chattering. Suddenly, he couldn’t hear it.
Julian felt that something was wrong.
In the end, there was no response. Julian frowned. "Margaret!"
"Headache."
The woman’s shy and dull voice sounded, and Julian’s lips curled up slightly.
"Have a good rest if you have a headache. Don’t overthink. It won’t be good for your recovery."
What did she overthink?
It was clear this man had caused her to miss the trip with Hilla and Halle.
The two limousines were bought with her private money. She had thought that Bruce would pay for the limousines since he would go with them.
Now, not only was her money gone, even her limousines had been driven away. She had suffered heavy losses.
"I will take care of myself. When we return to River City, we will part ways."
There were only the two of them in the car. Julian did not respond. Margaret was bored and played with her phone for a while. After feeling a little dizzy, she lay down.
"Aren’t you in Far City? Why did you suddenly come here?" Did he drive for a single trip before marriage as she thought?
However, when she thought about it, she knew that Julian was not as bored as she was.
"On a business trip."
These words were a perfect excuse.
Margaret nodded with understanding. She did not think that Julian had seen her Line Moments and was worried that she would be crushed by the mudslide and rushed over.
Margaret felt that she had a very clear understanding of the relationship with Julian.
There were only pure commercial interests, and there was no emotional foundation in their marriage.
Even if she had any feelings for him, it was because she was wary of Julian, the third wheel.
Right now, Hilla and Bruce were already in the limousine for their honeymoon, and the direction that Julian was driving was completely different.
The chances of them meeting were almost zero.
No matter how much Julian liked Hilla, he wouldn’t have the chance to do so.
However, in Margaret’s opinion, Julian had come here on a business trip to take a look at Hilla.
"My sister-in-law is very good and beautiful."
Margaret was lying in the back seat and seemed to be talking to herself. Julian did not care at first and did not respond.
Then, he heard Margaret continue, "You and my sister-in-law are childhood sweethearts. The two of you should be very close!
"It is said that pretty men and women tend to fall in love over time, and..."
Before Margaret could finish speaking, Julian’s voice came from the driver’s seat. "Moreover, Hilla is my first love."
He admitted it. He admitted it so easily.
Before she could interrogate him, Julian finally spoke the words in his heart.
He approached the Anderson family and later on in River City, he appeared in front of them again and again. As expected, he coveted Hilla and wanted to snatch Hilla away from her brother.
Margaret sneered. He was finally exposed.
He was so bad.
"Are you worried that Hilla and I are still in a relationship?"
Her mind being read, she immediately sat up in the car.
The next second, because she got up too impulsively, she lay back down again, feeling dizzy.
Margaret thought, "This is bad. I didn’t expect this man to be so careful. He even guessed what I was thinking."
But wasn’t this the truth? Why should she feel guilty?
"Are you afraid to admit your relationship with Hilla?"
She thought, "What to do? The secret was finally brought to light."
In the past, Margaret wanted to find the evidence that Julian had ill intentions towards Hilla, but today, he had clearly admitted it himself, but she was in a panic and didn’t know what to do.
If she had known that her psychological defense was still so fragile, she would ask him after she was fully prepared.
"There is nothing between me and Hilla that I do not dare to admit."
Julian replied indifferently, but drove into the service area.
The car quickly stopped at the service area.
Once the car stopped, the man sitting in front suddenly turned around.
Margaret was caught off guard and the guilt and panic on her face were caught by Julian.
The man was calm, but Margaret, who should have been righteous, buried her head in guilt and muttered in a low voice, "You are a celebrity with status. She is already married and has a baby, yet you are still chasing after her. You are trying to be a homewrecker. You’ll be damned if you break up her marriage."
At first, Julian was on the highway and did not hear what she was muttering behind him. When the car stopped, the surroundings became exceptionally quiet. He heard Margaret mutter.
"So you have been so strange to me because you feel that I still have feelings for Hilla."
"If you don’t have ulterior motives for Hilla, who would approach you for no reason?"
She wished she could stay far away from this person and never interact with him for the rest of her life.
"Is this why you approached me?
"Is this why you want to enter the Jorgansen Group and be my assistant?
"Is it a lie that you like boxing and want to find the best teacher to study hard?"
As Julian kept asking, his face turned colder and colder.
He stared at the woman who was dodging with his deep and dark eyes. He suddenly smiled coldly, really horrifying!
...
Hilla sneezed.
Hilla shivered and couldn’t help but burrow into the quilt.
Bruce was driving carefully, while Hilla was obediently staying in the limousine.
From time to time, she would open the window to look at the other limousine that was following behind them.
Since Margaret was not here, Halle was naturally the one driving behind her, but Hilla was worried that Halle was not experienced.
After Halle got her driver’s license, she had a driver.
Later, Halle did not have a car, so the chances of driving were even less.
"Mrs. Anderson, are you alright?"
Lori, who was sitting in the limousine, said nervously. Even Fred beside her said, "Do you want to take medicine first?"
Hilla was caught in the rain when she was rescuing them, so she caught a cold the next day.
When the rescue team arrived, Fred and Lori’s car was already damaged. The two reported to the orphanage.
They needed to drive a spare car in the next city, and they were right on Bruce’s way.
Hilla shook her head. "I’m fine. I just need to rest for a bit."
Hilla wrapped herself in the quilt, feeling that the car was driving steadily, and fell asleep peacefully.
Lori at the side looked out of the car window, at the scenery that quickly disappeared in front of her eyes, and turned to look in the direction of the driver’s seat.
The driver’s seat was blocked by a curtain, and the person inside could not be seen.
Lori could only rely on her own impression to imagine the man’s back.
"We will arrive at the next stop in ten minutes. The director has already contacted someone to pick us up. We will get off at the service area later."
Fred timely spoke, interrupting Lori’s thoughts, and Lori quickly came to herself.
Hilla slept soundly because of the cold, and the two of them sat in the seats of the limousine.
Lori knew that Fred interrupted her on purpose, and then said, "We’ll get off at the service area? Didn’t you say that there are more than ten minutes before we arrive at the next station? Why don’t we..."
"No matter where to get off, the people who don’t share the same path will have to separate sooner or later. Wherever we get off, it will not change anything. Why bother others?"
Fred was patient, reaching out to stroke Lori’s head, like a big brother caring for his little sister, his movements full of warmth.
Lori looked up at the driver’s seat, and then nodded. "I understand."
"Don’t make things difficult for yourself or do things that you will regret in the future. You have been smart since you were a child. You learn medicine and save people faster than others. Many kids in the orphanage regard you as their example."
Fred felt that he had said too much and kept silent.
Everyone would be unable to understand his words, and Lori understood them very well.
She did not respond to Fred but obediently followed Fred after stopping at the service area.
In the service area.
Hilla slept for a while and was awakened by the aroma of beef soup.
Halle was cooking outside the car. Bruce added water to the two limousines. Horton was guarding Emily. The little girl jumped, swinging her pigtails with a pink little schoolbag on her back.
Emily gave the wildflowers she found on the side of the road to Horton and smiled sweetly, "Dad, does this flower look good?"
Horton nodded lovingly. Although the child in front of him was not his biological daughter, Horton especially liked her.
In the past, he was not fond of children. Moreover, the children in the Hutt family were not close to him and he did not want to please them.
But Emily was different. Every time he looked at her, he could always feel joy in the little fellow. This inexplicable love was fate in his eyes.
God allowed him to be together with Halle, so even the child who was not related to him could be close to him.
"Yes!"
"Do I look better or do flowers look better?"
Emily was very serious and learned the tone of an adult.
"Of course you look better."
"Do the flowers look better than mom?"
"Your mother is prettier than the flower."
Horton glanced at Halle who was busy not far away, his face slightly awkward as he
turned to the side, and a thin layer of blush appeared on his face.
Emily looked up at the man in front of her, and then asked in a clear and melodious voice, "Who’s better looking, Mom or me? Do you like me or do you like Mom?"
Horton was stunned.
Horton did not expect that he would be asked such a question in his lifetime. What was even more terrifying was that he could not answer.
"You can’t say both! Margaret said that everyone has a girl they like the most."
Both she and her mother were girls, so her father could only like her or her mother.
"Why can’t I like both of you?"
Horton frowned, picked up Emily, and put her on his lap.
"Margaret said that if a boy likes more than two girls, he is a playa. Good girls can’t play with a playa."
Horton couldn’t help but smile, "Margaret will be toast!"
"Dad likes Emily the most."
Horton said without hesitation. When the little girl heard this, she immediately climbed down from Horton’s legs and quickly ran in the direction of Halle.
Halle tasted the spicy beef soup in the pot and saw Emily running to her.
Halle subconsciously extinguished the fire, watching the little fellow run to her. Emily pointed to Horton not far away and said loudly.
"Mom, this man is a playa. He said he liked me the most. You are not his favorite woman."
But her mother told her that a boy would marry a girl if he liked her best, so it was Horton who changed his mind.
Halle was stunned at first, then looked up and saw Horton driving the wheelchair over.
The man was obviously a little anxious, and his wheelchair was stumbling.
When he arrived in front of Halle, Horton was about to speak when he saw Halle gently squat down with a smile and hold Emily in her arms.
"Emily is Dad’s daughter. Of course, Dad likes Emily the most. We all like our baby. Emily is my baby and Dad’s baby."
Emily looked at Halle and then looked at Horton. She said in a low voice, "But daddy doesn’t like mommy."
"Dad doesn’t dislike Mom."
Horton said anxiously, "Mom is the woman Dad loves the most."
It was quiet all around. Hilla, who was originally going to find Bruce, pulled Bruce and dragged him into the limousine.
Bruce was caught off guard.
Halle did not expect that Horton would say that. She immediately blushed in panic, then let go of Emily and left with the pot.
"I seem to have made Mom angry."
Horton muttered as he looked at Halle’s back. Emily nodded unhurriedly, pouting her small, crystal-like red lips and staring at Horton.
"Mom is so angry that she doesn’t talk to you."
Emily thought, "That’s great. Mom really doesn’t like Dad. I’m Mom’s favorite baby!"
