Chapter 309: You Can’t Snatch My Mother!
Chapter 309: You Can’t Snatch My Mother!
...
Halle helped Emily take a bath and changed into clean clothes before taking her out of the bathroom and placing her on the bed.
Hilla watched quietly from the side, occasionally reaching out to help.
"Do you want to leave with Emily tonight? It’s so late. Why not stay here for the night? Pack up some things tomorrow and move over."
Hilla glanced out of the quiet window. She thought that before Halle moved out of the Anderson’s, Halle and she would have been chatting for the night.
Halle’s action of putting socks on Emily paused slightly, and there was obvious hesitation on her face, but she quickly made a decision.
"Horton’s leg injury has not healed yet. I can’t leave him alone there."
Since she was married, she had the obligation to take care of Horton, not to mention that Horton was still injured because of her.
No matter what, she shouldn’t let Horton go back alone. "But you take care of Horton and Emily alone. I am worried."
They would move to a new environment, and there should be many things that needed Halle to do, she just felt sorry for Halle.
Halle and Horton had just gotten married, and they probably did not have the time to enjoy their wedding.
It would take a period of time for Horton to completely recover his leg.
Emily was a child who was less than three years old and needed someone to take care of her at any time.
Hilla frowned, hesitating to send two servants to help Halle. However, she knew that Halle would reject this matter. "Emily has grown up. I can have meals by myself."
Emily sat on the bed with her legs drooping. She looked at Hilla with bright eyes. Her little face was pink and tender. Her long hair was sticking to her little face, which was particularly lovely.
Emily’s voice sounded in the room, breaking the dull in the room.
Hilla looked at Emily and smiled.
"You are the best!"
Emily, who was praised, nodded vigorously.
Then she smiled and said, "I can eat skewers and cut the steak. Margaret likes to eat the steak I cut."
Hilla thought, "Margaret had gone too far. She has the nerve to bully Emily!"
"I can sleep by myself!"
Emily tried to prove that she had grown up.
Hilla couldn’t help but smile, but Halle’s face was full of worry.
"Halle, what’s wrong?"
Halle shook her head. After hesitating for a while, she muttered, "Horton does not believe that Emily is his child."
She regretted lying to Horton and saying that Emily was Titus’ daughter. Horton believed in this, so he did not believe her explanation now.
She was wondering if she should use science to explain to Horton that she was not lying.
Halle thought, "Horton is a doctor, so he should believe in science."
"Halle, you don’t have to worry. Horton is kind. Even if he doesn’t believe it now, he will treat Emily well."
"I know that Horton is a good person. No matter whether Emily is his biological daughter or not, he will love Emily. I just want to tell him the truth!"
She felt that she might not make her words clearly the last time, or maybe Horton did not believe her at all.
Halle pursed her lips. Finally, she took out a pair of scissors from the drawer of the bedside cabinet and cut a lock of Emily’s hair.
....
Emily’s long hair became a little shorter.
Emily immediately covered her little head with her hands, and she pouted.
"Mom, you messed up my hair. I’m not beautiful anymore!"
Margaret had said that hairstyle was important.
However, her hairstyle was ruined by her mother.
Emily sniffled, feeling wronged. Although her hair was a bit messy, she didn’t look ugly, right?
Hilla looked at the hair in Halle’s hand in a daze. Then she saw Halle take out a small paper bag wrapped in toilet paper from the pocket of her clothes. There were several strands of hair in it.
She seemed to understand something all of a sudden.
"Halle, you want to..."
"I want you to help me take their hair to do a paternity test. You can tell Bruce about
this, but don’t tell the other person. Before this paternity test comes out, I will take good care of Horton."
If Bruce helped Hilla, they would be able to get the results very quickly.
Then, Horton should be easier to accept Emily’s identity.
"Actually, there’s no need. He will believe us if we explain to Horton a few more times."
Halle smiled. She wanted to reassure Horton.
Although it was unfair for Emily to do the paternity test and hurt the child’s self-esteem, Halle felt that she needed this proof now.
Seeing Halle’s serious expression, Hilla put away their hair and said, "Halle, don’t worry. I will handle this matter myself."
Halle nodded and did not say anything else. She just picked up Emily who was still worrying about her hairstyle.
Emily felt that her hairstyle must be terrible now, and she had become less beautiful and cute.
When the few of them went downstairs, they saw Margaret pulling a heavy suitcase downstairs with difficulty.
William quickly stepped forward and helped Margaret move the suitcase downstairs.
When Hilla saw Margaret’s suitcase, she exclaimed in surprise, "Are you going to go out?"
Was Margaret planning to secretly go out at night?
"I won’t go out."
"Then you..." Why was Margaret carrying a suitcase in the middle of the night?
"This is my gift to Emily. She can’t stay here anymore. Of course, I want her to take them away!"
Margaret rolled her eyes. Although she said that she didn’t care, it was obvious that she didn’t want Halle and Emily to leave.
Emily also stretched out her arms to Margaret and cried, "Margaret, I’m going to go to a new home. I don’t want to part with you. I will miss you."
Emily had just been taken over by Margaret when she threw herself into Margaret’s arms and said in a particularly aggrieved tone. She even sniffled.
During the days Emily lived in the Anderson’s, Emily had obviously developed a deep friendship with Margaret.
Margaret’s eyes immediately turned red, and she fiercely hugged Emily in her arms.
"You are fat and eat too much. They will definitely dislike you. If they dislike you, then you come to me again, I won’t take you in anymore."
The two of them hug each other, looking reluctant to part with each other.
Those who didn’t know would think that Margaret and Emily were mother and daughter.
When the two of them calmed down, Halle took Emily.
They didn’t expect that when Emily saw Horton, she plunged into Horton’s arms.
Feeling the soft and cute Emily in his arms, Horton immediately narrowed his eyes and smiled. He pulled Emily into his arms.
Margaret thought, "Just now, you said that you would miss me. In the blink of an eye, you throw yourself into Horton’s arms!"
...
"Mommy’s house is so beautiful. It’s even more beautiful than Hilla’s house." Emily was lying in front of the French window in the living room.
Emily especially liked this new house. Seeing Halle cleaning up, she asked curiously, "Mom, will we be living in this house forever?"
She was worried that they had to move out in a few days.
Although Hilla’s house was beautiful, with a garden full of roses, and Margaret having fun with her, Emily preferred to be with her mother.
"This house will be our home. Do you want to see your room now?"
Horton sat on the wheelchair and looked at the excited Emily. Her face was hidden in the shadows, and her eyes flashed with light, looking cute.
"I want a pink room, just like a Princess’s room in fairy tales on TV."
Emily cheered and ran towards Horton. She circled around his wheelchair, grabbed his arm, and jumped, looking very cute.
Horton gave a smile.
He used to think that the house was quiet and he liked to be alone. But now he felt happy when he stayed with the lively Emily.
Halle rushed to the kitchen as soon as she came back because they did not have dinner at the Anderson’s.
In the kitchen came the sound of pots, pans, and knives, and vegetables colliding. Emily couldn’t wait to take Horton to see her new room. "Is there a cute doll bigger than me in the room?"
Emily raised her head and looked at Horton seriously. Looking at the smile on his face, she also gave a smile.
"Yes. What else do you like?"
"The pink curtains!"
Margaret’s room was like this and Emily liked it very much. Margaret had said to Emily that every beautiful girl had such a pink room.
"Alright!"
Horton said. He did not expect the house that Bruce had given him to be so thoughtful. There was indeed a children’s room inside, and all the facilities seemed to be tailored for Emily.
Horton was a little suspicious. He thought that Bruce had prepared this house for him as a wedding room.
But how did Bruce know that he would marry Halle?
When the door of the room opened, he heard Emily cheer. There were not only dolls inside, but also toys she liked.
Even the carpets were pink, soft, and warm.
Emily happily climbed onto the bed and jumped up in the room.
In the kitchen.
Halle got dinner ready and walked to Horton, saying, "Are you hungry? Let’s go have something now!"
"Mom!"
Emily took the beautiful dress and ran out of the room.
She looked up at Halle and said seriously, "Mom, are you married to Horton? You two are going to sleep in the same bed tonight, right?"
Margaret said that after a man married a woman, the two would sleep in the same bed, so Halle and Horton gave her a room.
Emily raised her head and looked at Halle, looking serious.
Halle glanced at Horton with a guilty conscience and crouched down to tidy up the scattered Emily’s hair.
She smiled gently, "You have grown up. Even if I’m not married, you should sleep alone when you grow up!"
"But I’m only three years old now."
Emily said as she clumsily extended three fingers to Halle.
She looked aggrieved.
She was only three years old, but her mother was going to share a bed with another man.
"Uncle is an adult. Why can’t he sleep on his own?"
"I’m still a child. It is dark outside at night. I will be afraid."
Emily said as she hugged Halle’s thigh, her eyes flashing with tears.
Emily thought, "Margaret says that if my mother disagrees, then I could cry."
When Halle saw Emily crying, she hugged Emily tightly.
Horton looked at the mother and daughter hugging each other and immediately understood that he had been abandoned.
"Emily, be good. How about I sleep with you at night?"
Halle looked at Horton in embarrassment and said, "Emily is still young and not used
to living here. I want to accompany her for a few days. When she gets used to it..."
"I see. It doesn’t matter! The food is getting cold. Hurry up and eat."
Halle watched as Horton turned to leave for the dining room. She pursed her lips and hugged Emily tightly in her arms.
"Mom, is Horton angry with you?"
"Of course not. Emily, you have to remember that you should call him daddy!"
Hearing this, Emily stared at Halle quietly.
Halle did not say anything else, but took Emily to the dining room and sat at the table to have dinner together.
Emily looked at Halle, then looked at Horton, and finally lowered her head, having dinner.
Although she didn’t know what the stepfather meant, Margaret had told her that when her mother asked her to call Horton daddy, her mother would no longer belong to her alone.
In the room, after Halle helped Emily take a shower, she went into the bathroom.
Emily held the doll in her arms and sneaked out of the door.
She quickly ran into the room of the master bedroom, looked at Horton who was sorting out the documents on the bed, and blinked.
"Why are you here? Where’s your mother?"
Horton felt the gaze coming from the door, and then he saw Emily.
Although Emily couldn’t completely accept him now, he would feel happy when he saw Emily.
"Mom is taking a shower!"
Emily said and squeezed in through the door.
Horton blushed after he listened to Emily’s response.
The scene of Halle bathing flashed in his mind, which made him excited even more.
"Why are you here?"
Horton leaned against the bed and saw Emily clumsily climbing onto his bed.
Emily sat by his bedside and looked at his injured leg.
"Daddy, does it hurt?"
Emily’s little hand fell on Horton’s leg which was covered with thick bandages, and her eyes blinked.
"What are you calling me?"
Horton was touched.
He felt very happy.
He looked at Emily in disbelief.
Now he had no sugar and no chocolate, but Emily took the initiative to call him father.
Emily tilted her head and said seriously, "Mom said that I should call you daddy!"
Emily thought, "I call you daddy, so you can’t snatch my mother away from me!"
