Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!

Chapter 250: Buy a Little Pet

Chapter 250: Buy a Little Pet

Just the next day, Seraphina Redgrave suddenly developed a high fever. She took medicine, and although it seemed like the fever was subsiding, it quickly flared up again.Such was the cycle.

Seraphina lay in bed, her limbs weak and soft, struggling to lift even a finger.

"Bang!"

In the study at Hibiscus Garden, Dr. Goodwin watched as a wireless mouse flew straight at his feet, causing a sharp pain, but he dared not dodge, nor cry out.

Nathan Ayers stood beside him, feeling a bit sympathetic.

"How many days has it been? Why hasn’t the fever subsided?" Ethan Sterling sat behind the desk, glaring coldly at Dr. Goodwin, his voice filled with menace.

"You’re pretty good at taking my money, but not at curing illness. What use is there in sparing your life?"

This threat made Dr. Goodwin’s face turn pale instantly; he truly believed Ethan would kill him in the next second, and hurriedly explained, "Young Master Sterling, Miss Redgrave’s illness is a heart-related issue, an onset due to emotional stress, and will naturally get better in a few days."

The illness will certainly improve.

"Then according to you, what’s the point of a doctor, anyway?"

If the illness resolves itself, then what’s the point of hospitals in the world?

"But a heart issue isn’t solved simply by taking medicine." Dr. Goodwin wasn’t trying to shirk responsibility, it was simply the case, "Young Master Sterling might consider Miss Redgrave’s interests, who she likes to be with; accommodating her might help her recover faster."

"For her, I haven’t gone to the company for two days, yet she hasn’t improved." Ethan was somewhat irritated.

"Pfft." Nathan couldn’t help but burst out and quickly covered his mouth.

Did Young Master Sterling mean Miss Redgrave just liked him, wanted to be with him?

Ethan’s gaze swept over, prompting Nathan to stand up straight, saying to Dr. Goodwin, "Look, our Young Master Sterling has been accompanying Miss Redgrave for so many days, why hasn’t it worked? Think of other ways."

"Then we’ll just have to wait, probably two days, after which Miss Redgrave’s condition will definitely improve," Dr. Goodwin said.

"Two more days?" Ethan didn’t expect such a simple illness to be so troublesome.

Dr. Goodwin thought for a moment and said, "Actually, I could give Miss Redgrave an infusion, she would recover quickly, but of course, medicine has its drawbacks and would affect her immunity."

After speaking, Dr. Goodwin noticed Ethan’s face had already darkened like a pot bottom, and quickly added, "Of course, Young Master Sterling accompanying Miss Redgrave more could also aid her faster recovery."

"Nonsense."

Ethan picked up a pen holder nearby and threw it at Dr. Goodwin’s side, "Keep coming up with solutions!"

How can Seraphina Redgrave’s knot be untied?

"..."

Didn’t you say with your company, Miss Redgrave would quickly recover? What else can they come up with?

Nathan mentally grumbled but still racked his brains trying to think of something.

Being Ethan’s most trusted assistant, second only to none in the company, with everyone eager to win his favor, Nathan had never had to curry favor with women, so coming up with ideas wasn’t easy for him.

He stood where he was, his eyes darting around, desperately signaling to Dr. Goodwin.

Dr. Goodwin was Ethan’s private doctor; if he couldn’t cure Miss Redgrave, he’d surely be finished.

Dr. Goodwin was also incredibly anxious, quickly recalling those clichéd romance dramas he’d seen, finally resigning himself and offering an idea, "Young Master Sterling, how about buying Miss Redgrave a small pet?"

"A small pet?"

Ethan carefully weighed the feasibility of this idea.

"That makes a lot of sense," Nathan joined in supporting Dr. Goodwin, "Don’t girls love those little cute animals? They’re the most healing, I remember even people with depression recovering because of small animals."

"She doesn’t have depression."

Just sadness, wouldn’t suffer depression for another man.

Ethan’s tone was quite unfriendly.

Nathan realized his mistake and stopped speaking, head lowered.

"What Special Assistant Ayers says actually makes sense, pets can sometimes make someone feel happy." Dr. Goodwin agreed, "Miss is currently alone in the room, naturally feeling bored at times, perhaps getting a small pet could relieve that."

"Then what kind should I buy?" Ethan inquired.

"Gentle and well-behaved." Dr. Goodwin answered without second thought.

"..."

Gentle and well-behaved small pet?

Ethan sat in the genuine leather chair, hands clasped resting under his chin, bangle-like fingers resembling a cat deeply lost in thought along with its owner.

...

The phone notification sounded as Seraphina lay in bed, her mind dizzy, half-awake, nearly forgetting where she was.

The room was empty except for the aroma diffuser on the bedside filling the air with a fresh scent, taking away the illness.

Seraphina feebly raised her hand, reaching for the phone beside the pillow; even this simple action felt exhausting.

It was a message from Hector Shaw.

Previously, she had asked him to look into the whereabouts of a wealthy heir and Zachary Zane’s ex-girlfriend. Hector Shaw specifically messaged her this time, informing her he had found them and was figuring out their movements, hoping she would patiently wait.

Hector Shaw also said he hoped she wouldn’t remain so sad, to live well with their trust.

She understood these truths; otherwise, how could she have pushed the plan forward so swiftly, afraid to look back?

But not looking back doesn’t mean past events hadn’t occurred; no matter how strong she remained, there would be sorrowful moments.

Seraphina didn’t say much, simply replied with two words: Okay.

Seraphina sighed, gazing at the ceiling, attempting to get up. Even before her back straightened, she felt her whole body tremble, her arms feeble and weak, and she again fell back onto the bed.

It felt unbearable.

Seraphina raised her hand to rub her temples when the door opened from outside.

Ethan lazily stood at the entrance, hands in pockets, his gray loungewear softening his usual sharp edge, no longer exuding an unapproachable aura.

Seeing her rub her head, Ethan was a bit worried, "Still feeling unwell?"

"Yeah." Seraphina turned to look at him, "Are you not going to the company today?"

Actually, whether he went or not didn’t concern her.

Ethan approached, touching her forehead to find it wasn’t as hot, "Much better than before. Do you want to get out of bed? Staying here all the time must be boring."

Seraphina felt that if her illness didn’t improve, he wouldn’t go to the company, so she nodded.

"Careful."

Ethan carefully gathered Seraphina from the bed.

With gentle movements, Seraphina felt her head wasn’t as dizzy, now seated on his lap she was in his arms.

Ethan held her like a child, one arm around her waist, the other sliding over her slippers to put them on.

"Let’s go downstairs, I chose a few small pets for you; see if there’s one you like, if so, it stays."

"Small pets?"

Seraphina was puzzled, why on earth buy her small pets?
