Chapter 1428 - 1422: Truly Shady, I Like It

Evander Lancaster returned to the apartment just after ten o’clock; Juliana Lancaster, with her routine schedule, had already gone back to her room to rest.Sophia Hamilton had just lain down on the bed.

Evander took a quick shower before lifting the quilt and getting into bed, "Honey, why aren’t you asleep yet? Waiting for me?"

"Stop flattering yourself, I was just watching TV with Mom."

"Oh, how disappointing," Evander sighed with mock sadness, placing his hand over Sophia’s belly.

"Son, were you waiting for Daddy? You can’t sleep until Daddy comes home, right?"

"Stop it, I’m sleepy." Sophia impatiently brushed his hand away, fidgeted with the pillow to find a comfortable position, and mumbled with her eyes closed.

"Come clean, did you look for any women when you met up with your brother and the others today?"

Evander chuckled, "You know what, I actually did find someone."

Hearing his tone, not sounding like a joke, Sophia immediately opened her eyes and pinched his neck.

"Speak, did you touch that woman?"

Previously, Sophia had seen Evander playing cards at a club with two women sitting by his side, that’s why she reacted so strongly.

"Honey, let’s talk this out, violence is not the answer. You’re a mom now, don’t set a bad example for our son."

Evander good-naturedly moved Sophia’s hand away.

"So, spill it, what happened?" Sophia asked coldly.

Before he began, Evander smirked slyly, relishing in the thought of Vanessa Quinn’s livid green face.

"Honey, let me tell you, your man did a mean thing today."

"What mean thing?" Sophia frowned, it was the first time she’d heard Evander describe himself this way, so she was really curious about what "mean thing" he had done.

Evander started from when Vanessa Quinn came to find him at the hospital in the afternoon, and by the end of it, he was laughing uncontrollably.

"...Honey, do you think what I did was a bit mean?"

Sophia disdainfully snorted, "Not a bit, it was very mean, okay?"

She immediately changed her tone, kicking her feet and laughing gleefully, "But I love it! Evander, I love a man like you, so passionate towards his wife, yet more beastly than a beast towards those trashy women who want something they can’t have!"

Evander...

Speechlessly watching the overly proud woman, he silently grumbled, is this how you praise your man?

Alright, although the wording was improper, he begrudgingly accepted it since it was praise.

"Alright, let’s sleep, the little one needs rest."

Evander gently patted Sophia’s shoulder. She suddenly furrowed her brow and asked, "You left her alone at the nightclub, could she really have hooked up with all four of those guys?"

"Okay, stop overthinking it, that’s her business, not ours."

Evander tugged at the quilt, pulling Sophia closer to him.

Sophia moved into position compliantly, still murmuring discontentedly, "How is it not our business, you paid for it! No way, this month you’re eating pickles and porridge, or get the money back!"

"Alright, alright, I’ll drink porridge."

The next day, Vanessa Quinn went to Evander Lancaster’s hospital again, wearing a round-neck knit top with palazzo pants, a scarf around her neck, and walked into Evander’s office beaming.

After entering, Vanessa Quinn pulled up a chair and sat across from Evander. Leaning back in his chair, Evander crossed one leg over the other knee, casually shaking it, his phoenix eyes casually glanced at the marks peeking out from under Vanessa’s scarf.
