Chapter 1039: Probably a One-W

Ye Xinluo smiled at her, "Don’t call me Sister Ye, it feels weird. Just call me Xinluo!"

Xia Yuan quickly refused, "How can I do that? You’re the president’s wife, and I’m just a little assistant. Some formalities are inevitable."

Ye Xinluo: "At the dinner the other day, you didn’t seem so formal. We’re not that far apart in age, let’s just be friends. Don’t use those titles, I’m not used to hearing them."

Xia Yuan thought for a moment and then nodded, "Alright, Xinluo. You can just call me Xia Yuan from now on, and we’ll be friends."

"Okay." She glanced at the files in Xia Yuan’s arms, "Are these all the tasks Xu Kun assigned to you?"

"Yes, I’ve been with the company for a few days now. Vice President Xu told me to go through the company’s development history, saying it’s beneficial for future work. These are all the materials I managed to gather with great difficulty. I won’t chat now, I have to review the materials and do spot checks!"

Ye Xinluo watched her hurriedly leave and wondered why it felt like Xu Kun was intentionally making things difficult.

Just think, who asks their assistant to read the company’s development history?

Ye Xinluo returned to Qin Yin’s desk, feeling a bit anxious and watched her for a while. Fortunately, Qin Yin was quite busy, so the matter was naturally dropped.

She stayed until after eleven o’clock. When Beichen Rui finished his work, she went home with him.

Xia Yuan spent several hours reviewing materials, and finally, it was lunchtime. She was just wondering what the canteen might have to eat when the phone on her desk rang.

She pressed the answer key, and Xu Kun’s voice came through, "Come in."

After hanging up the phone, she stood up and walked into the Vice President’s office.

Standing in front of the desk, she stared at him for a while. Seeing he had no intention of speaking, she couldn’t help but ask, "Is there something you need from me?"

Without looking up, Xu Kun spoke, "Go get me a cup of coffee. There’s none in the pantry..."

Before he finished speaking, something suddenly came to mind. He paused his file flipping, looked up with an odd expression, "Forget it, you can go. I’ll ask someone else."

Getting a coffee from someone with a terrible sense of direction might mean no return!

"Oh." She turned to leave.

Just as she reached the door and hadn’t yet grabbed the handle, Xu Kun’s voice sounded again, "Bring me a meal later, surely you can manage that!"

"Okay." She replied, opened the door, and walked out.

After having lunch at the canteen, she packed another meal and brought it back to the top floor. As she pushed the door open, Xu Kun was on the phone, signaling her to just leave the meal and head out.

Returning to her desk, she picked up her phone and idly browsed Weibo for a while, then started going through the files on her desk again.

The phone chimed. She looked at it; it was a voice message from her only childhood friend.

"My dear, where are you? Did you change your SIM card? Can you stop torturing me? Uncle Xia calls me hundreds of times a day, I’m going crazy. Can I work peacefully? If you don’t want to get married, just tell your family. Why run away? Dear, can you tell me where you are now?"

After listening to the message, she recalled that on the day Xu Kun took her in, she discarded her old SIM card and got a new one.
