Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy

Chapter 295: Life At Stake

Chapter 295: Life At Stake

Grandma looked at Jojo and called upon him, "Come here, boy. Accompany your Mommy. She has been like this ever since you left..."

Jojo rushed towards his mother. He had never seen his mother looking so listless. Her face was pale as snow—so pale that Jojo thought his mother had lost all her blood.

His mother had always been a bit small and frail-looking, but he had never seen her this frail.

And thus, his instinct told him something was terribly wrong. He grabbed his mother’s hand and gasped when he realized that her hand was so cold.

"M-Mommy, what’s wrong with you? Why are you so cold?" Jojo asked while rubbing his palms on her hand, hoping to share some warmth.

But no matter how hard he tried to share some warmth, his mother’s hand continued to be cold.

Jojo became increasingly worried and looked at the old lady sitting right next to him. He guessed this old lady must’ve been the ’Grandma’ that his mother often talked about.

Thus, he asked, "Grandma, how do I help Mommy? She is so cold! Like... like a dead person!"

Grandma Tree shed her tears as she shook her head, "Little Dawn Star, your Mommy is trying her best to survive while giving birth to your baby sibling. She should be reacting by now, but she hasn’t woken up since her water broke!"

Jojo didn’t understand some of her explanation, but he knew that ’survive’ and ’hasn’t woken up’ were two dangerous things!

"Then, what should we do, Grandma? I don’t want Mommy to get hurt!"

"... " Grandma shook her head. "There is nothing we can do, little Dawn Star. She has to wake up on her own if she wants to give birth to your baby sibling."

At this point, Jojo was really scared of what would happen to his mother. So he shook his mother’s arm to no avail, and then whispered to her, "Mommy, please wake up. If... if you don’t wake up, then I will cry! You said a big boy like me shouldn’t cry too often, right? Wu... waaaaaahhh!"

It didn’t take long for Jojo to wail. He had always been a sensitive boy who was also a little spoiled. Jojo was already on the brink of tears when he saw his mother looking like she was dying.

He continued crying loudly for a while until Sisi’s eyelids actually moved. Grandma noticed it first and gasped. She patted the boy’s back and said,

"Little Dawn Star, look! Your mother is waking up!"

Jojo stopped wailing immediately. He continued to sob while holding his mother’s hand, "Mommy! Mommy, wake up!"

Sisi felt that she had been trapped in a limbo for so long. She couldn’t move her body, nor scream no matter how hard she tried.

She didn’t know what happened to her, and was scared that she might’ve died before she could even give birth to her beloved child.

However, Jojo’s loud tears actually broke through this limbo, and she finally pulled herself out.

She opened her eyes and blinked a few times before smiling towards her beloved son—the boy she raised with all her love, and the boy that saved her just as much as she saved him.

Sisi slowly reached towards Jojo’s hair and caressed it gently, "Why are you crying, Jojo? Did something upset you?"

"It’s you, Mommy!" Jojo said while sobbing. "You are so pale, so cold, and so frail! I thought Mommy was gone!"

Sisi chuckled, "I won’t be gone so easily, Jojo. You don’t have to worry about me."

"But Grandma said that you haven’t woken up for a long time! I’m worried!"

"Well, I’m awake now," Sisi said. "So you should rest first while I’m giving birth to the baby, alright? It’s a little uncomfortable, and I don’t want you to watch."

"But..."

"Jojo, listen to Mommy," Sisi said before she turned her head and stared at the small hut not far from her location. "You can rest in there. Don’t worry, Grandma will wake you up once it’s done."

Jojo wanted to say that he had to stay. But he had always been obedient, and seeing that his mother was still too weak to even get up, he thought it’d be better if he didn’t hinder anything.

"Mommy, um... I will come if you need anything..."

"Mm, thank you, Jojo," Sisi smiled. "Don’t worry, everything will be just fine..."

Jojo reluctantly got up and walked towards the hut, but he repeatedly looked back to check on his mother before he eventually entered the hut.

Once she made sure that Jojo couldn’t see her, Sisi looked at her grandmother and asked,

"Grandma, is it still possible for me to give birth to this baby?"

"Dearest, that is all up to you," Grandma said. "I’ve covered half of your body with the water from Origin Spring, delaying the labor temporarily. But I can’t do more than that."

"It’s okay, thank you for saving me, Grandma," Sisi said with a toughened smile despite the overwhelming pain in her waist down. "Grandma, this is my last request, so... can you help me give birth to my baby? I’m sure you already have experience from my late mother, right?"

Grandma Tree had cried long enough. She was a nature spirit that had lived since the first tree grew in the world, but she had never been this sad before.

She kept telling her granddaughter to give up the child while she still could, but Sisi was so stubborn that she had no other choice.

Thus, Grandma nodded and took away the water blanket. The moment that water blanket broke, Sisi felt an extremely painful contraction, forcing her to grit her teeth as she started pushing.

Grandma quickly covered Sisi’s body from the waist down with another blanket made out of calming leaves, which would ease her pain a little, before helping her granddaughter give birth to a baby that would cost her life in the end.
