Chapter 866: I’m Hungry—Give Me Something to Eat…
Hearing Alice Sutton’s low, mocking laugh and realizing her thoughts, Arnold coldly continued, "Don’t think just because I’m blind, I’m helpless against you."As Arnold spoke, he hurled the sharpened stick he held in his hand with great force.
The stick traced an arc in the air before piercing the ground between Alice Sutton’s legs, right next to her thigh.
Alice Sutton stared in shock at the stick embedded deeply in the ground between her legs, its end still trembling. Her body turned cold, and cold sweat immediately formed on her forehead.
If it weren’t for the fright she had received from Mark earlier... Arnold’s move would have certainly left the ground beneath her once again drenched.
Arnold looked in Alice Sutton’s direction and coldly said, "Now you understand? When I want to kill you, it has nothing to do with my eyes!"
Just because she was taken hostage once, did they think she was powerless, unable to kill him again?
If it weren’t for some special reasons before, would she have been taken hostage by him?
Thinking of the situation on the helicopter earlier, Arnold’s cheeks involuntarily turned pale again.
She forced herself not to think about the fear at that time and looked toward Mark, softly saying, "Boss, let’s go."
"Okay." Mark nodded and came over to support Arnold.
Then, Mark and Arnold continued heading towards the edge of the forest, not bothering to look back as they said to Alice Sutton, "If you don’t want to die here, you’d better keep up!"
Alice Sutton’s gaze was venomous as she watched Mark and Arnold leave with their backs toward her. She gritted her teeth, endured the pain from her injuries, got up from the ground, and dragged her bleeding legs to follow Mark and Arnold.
And so, the three of them, each with their own motives, continued on their journey toward the forest’s edge.
After traveling for four or five hours, Mark helped Arnold sit under a big tree to rest.
Mark took off a backpack made from a parachute on his back, took out cooked wolf leg meat and wild fruit, and sat under the tree with Arnold to eat.
Meanwhile, Alice Sutton, resting not far from Mark and Arnold, was exhausted and starving, her vision blurred, her chest sticking to her back from hunger.
Alice Sutton had been miserably hanging on that towering tree ever since she jumped from the helicopter.
In other words, for three whole days, Alice Sutton hadn’t eaten anything or had a drop of water.
After being rescued by Mark and torturously tormented by him, Alice Sutton had no choice but to follow Mark and Arnold.
During this time, to survive, Alice Sutton even drank the blood dripping from her own thigh.
If not for that, she probably wouldn’t have survived.
At this moment, watching Mark and Arnold eat heartily, Alice Sutton couldn’t help but swallow hard.
She looked toward Mark and awkwardly said, "I’m hungry, give me something to eat."
Mark didn’t say anything and casually picked up a piece of cooked wolf meat and a wild fruit, preparing to toss them to Alice Sutton.
But just as Mark was about to move, Arnold stopped him, saying, "Boss, don’t give it to him."
Successfully stopping Mark, Arnold then looked towards Alice Sutton and coldly said, "Want to eat? Go find it yourself!"
Alice Sutton gritted her teeth in anger, "You!"
"What about me?" Arnold retorted, unkindly and coldly, "Even if we’re feeding dogs, it’s better than giving it to you!"
Without waiting for Alice Sutton to respond, Arnold continued, cutting off Alice Sutton’s words, "Don’t remind us we’re police! You may not be tired of saying it, but I’m tired of hearing it!"
"You’d better get this straight: yes, we are police, but we’re not a charity, nor are we running a relief operation!"
"For someone like you, it’s already quite a favor to save your life and bring you along. There’s no reason, nor will there be, to provide food for someone like you."
Alice Sutton was so enraged she almost vomited blood, yet she was helpless against Arnold.
She thought about defiantly going out to find some food herself, but in her current state, she would likely become prey before finding anything.
If not for that, she wouldn’t have endured Laurant Foster and this kid until now.
Alice Sutton always knew that honor and dignity were nonsense, and that staying alive was what truly mattered.
She narrowed her eyes venomously at Arnold and then looked at Mark, questioning, "Laurant Foster, isn’t he your subordinate? What? Do you need his permission to make any decision?"
Mark chuckled, putting down the food in his hand, "It’s none of your business whether I need her permission to make decisions, but right now, you’ll just have to stay hungry."
"You!" Alice Sutton was furious, and after a long time, she finally managed to say, "Just as I thought, I always knew there was something off about you!"
Alice Sutton’s venomous eyes seemed to see through everything as she looked at Mark, then threateningly continued, "So, it seems the international police are quite liberal too! Laurant Foster, a homo—sexual, even hitting on his own subordinate, aren’t you afraid I’ll expose your affairs?"
Arnold’s face blushed, not knowing if it was from anger or another reason.
She quickly turned towards Alice Sutton, urgently saying, "I warn you, stop talking nonsense, there’s nothing between me and my boss!"
"Really?" Alice Sutton completely disbelieving.
Alice Sutton looked at Mark and Arnold, judgmentally saying, "I’ve roamed the underworld for years, the little thing between you two can’t escape my eyes!"
Then she continued to threaten, "Deny all you want now, but unless you give me some food, maybe I’ll consider not spreading your business out there."
"Ha!" Mark sneered, arrogantly saying, "Do you think, if I were really like you said, I’d be afraid of you exposing it?"
Finishing his words, Mark handed a piece of wild fruit to Arnold, "Ignore him, just think of him as a mad dog, a dog about to starve and die of thirst, but can only watch the food without getting any."
"Pfft..." Imagining the image Mark described, Arnold couldn’t help but laugh.
She didn’t take the wild fruit Mark handed over, instead looking at him and saying, "Boss, I’m already full. Once you’re done eating, we can continue on our way."
Mark nodded, stuffing the wild fruit into his own mouth.
As he chewed the wild fruit, Mark wrapped up the remaining food in canvas again and slung it back over his shoulder.
