Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted

Chapter 310: Classmates

Chapter 310: Classmates

Around noon, Jessica came to fetch Luna. After Loren gave Luna a pile of money, he told her to go out with Jessica, while he stayed home to continue sewing clothes.

Before this, Jessica had only heard Luna talk about it, but today she finally saw with her own eyes just how good Loren was to Luna.

"You mean he got up early to sew clothes for you, and then gave you a huge sum of money when you went out?"

Luna stuffed the gold coins into her little pink purse, almost unable to fit them all in, and Jessica stood there stunned.

"Yeah…"

"Luna, Luna, do you even realize what's going on here…

"My mom scolds me when I don't help with chores, and Master Mentor treats you better than your own mother!"

Jessica grabbed Luna's shoulders and shook her, making Luna blush with embarrassment.

"I know Master Mentor is good to me… so I've been thinking about how to repay him…"

Luna believed her combat ability was pretty decent. Even before Loren strengthened her, she could handle a group of Scarecrows on her own.The last time she was ambushed by Scarecrows, had Eldrin not suddenly interfered, she could have taken care of them all by herself.

It was just that Loren practically had no need for her fighting strength, so Luna had no way to repay him.

"I tell you… if I were you, Master Mentor would be sewing baby clothes by now…"

Jessica had no energy left to argue with that.

Besides, she felt Loren wasn't treating someone like a wife, or even like a child—more like maintaining a loyal deathbound retainer.

Luna then told her about what had happened last night. Jessica wasn't surprised by the outcome; she was even somewhat relieved, because at least Luna had actually taken action.

...

In the afternoon Loren finished the dress. He had often dealt with Vampires back in the Uridia Kingdom and had seen many ornate gowns, but none compared to this one he’d made now.

The dress was primarily white, studded with various gems. On the hem Loren had crafted an inverted cross pattern out of gold.

The gown was heavy, but magnificently elegant.

"I wonder if Luna will like it…"

Loren stretched and planned to go out to pick up the cake. It was time to collect the cake they had ordered.

A cake so large probably had the bakery exhausted; it might not taste amazing, it was mostly for show and atmosphere.

But the guests weren't picky about flavor. Anna could eat—most of the time she didn't care how good the food was. If Mirrorheart and Seraphina cooked, Anna could eat thirty bowls; if it was a restaurant, she could only manage twenty-nine.

Even now Loren could see Church members still dealing with the Prismatic Void-Gnawing Beasts; they hadn't finished clearing them out yet.

"Have any Prismatic Void-Gnawing Beasts gotten into the wild?"

Loren asked Movila, who had been constantly monitoring the area; at this point a crow could be seen on nearly every building.

"Some people released the Prismatic Void-Gnawing Beasts, but I handled those that were released. Their souls are very weak; if I attack their souls I can easily kill them.

"And they even treated my clones as prey and didn't run away."

Movila replied, then leaned in front of Loren and began begging for pets.

"Be careful, their teeth are actually pretty sharp."

Loren stroked Movila's hair and warned her.

Actually Movila wasn't in much danger right now—she had many souls. Even if dozens of crows were killed it wouldn't matter, but she could feel pain when her clones were killed, so Loren didn't want her to take unnecessary risks.

The Church members handling the Prismatic Void-Gnawing Beasts looked exhausted; they'd been busy with this for a long while.

Even though Loren had explained the beasts' characteristics to them, they weren't easy to capture—after all, not everyone could effortlessly suppress their killing intent like Loren.

So people gradually grew to dislike the things. One knight even skewered a Prismatic Void-Gnawing Beast on his sword; it looked like a multicolored meatball.

Some of the beasts were still twitching; these injuries weren't enough to kill them.

"Stop killing the Prismatic Void-Gnawing Beasts! They devour other creatures out of instinct. This is natural law!"

At that moment, several people holding protest signs blocked in front of the knight, trying to seize his sword, even threatening to attack him.

They still referred to the Prismatic Void-Gnawing Beasts as "she."

The knight couldn't easily fight back and could only dodge. The Bountiful Church did treat ordinary people well; if this had been the Church of the God of Vows and Wind, they would have been much harsher.

"These rabbits are abyssal creatures. They will cause irreversible damage to the environment, killing other animals and even humans…"

The knight tried to explain, only to be met with escalated attacks. Some people had already started trying to tear open his armor.

"I knew something like this would happen…"

Loren sighed. The Bountiful Church had spoiled people too much, making them reckless every day.

"Master Mentor!"

When Loren arrived, the knight breathed a sigh of relief; Loren inspired a sense of safety like no one else.

"Give me the sword."

The knight instinctively obeyed Loren's order. Loren swung the knight's sword and split the Prismatic Void-Gnawing Beasts in two; under the effect of Abundant Magic they merged into the soil.

"Master Mentor, don't you think these rabbits' situation is very similar to our gir—"

They tried to argue with Loren, but Loren didn't bother to respond. He began instructing the knight:

"I'll teach you what to do next time you encounter this situation."

The knight nodded numbly, then watched as Loren slapped the woman leading the protesters straight off her feet. Loren then announced:

"These people are infected with the Rainbow Plague. Initiate quarantine and treatment immediately!"

Upon hearing that, the knight finally understood and hurriedly shouted:

"Yes!"

No sooner had he spoken than he rushed forward and pinned down the people who had tried to tear his armor.

...

Loren solved the mess in less than a minute, returned to the witches, and continued on his way to the bakery.

The cake was already finished. Something this large couldn't be stored directly in the Life Thief space, so they had to move it bit by bit on a cart.

Soon the sun had set and a blood-tinted moon rose. It was time for the birthday party.

The classmates Jessica had invited arrived one by one at Loren’s home. They were all commoner girls, and each became more flustered upon seeing Loren.

Except for one girl. She had short hair, dressed casually, looked very ordinary, and showed no trace of nervousness in her eyes.

Or rather, her eyes were full of indifference, as if the person in front of her wasn't Master Mentor at all, but an NPC.
