Chapter 296: Gift
Chapter 296: Gift
After Loren accepted their apology, Furad did not stand up immediately. Instead, she grabbed her own sharp fangs.
Under Loren's gaze, Furad directly pulled out one of her sharp fangs, the end of the tooth bringing out quite a bit of blood.
Just like that, Furad forcibly pulled out two of her own teeth and offered them to Loren with both hands.
"I learned that you wanted vampire teeth. My teeth, as a Duke, should be more useful than a Marquis's."
In fact, when in front of Loren, Furad even changed how she referred to herself from 'Bloodline' to 'vampire'. Loren knew full well what this term meant to vampires.
This was even more outrageous than calling a black person the N-word.
Simply because Loren usually addressed them that way, Furad changed her own wording.
Seeing Furad go to such lengths, Loren felt a bit embarrassed.
He took the teeth from Furad's hands and then helped her stand up.
"Thank you for your mercy..."Furad bowed her head, humble to the extreme.
"Movila, check if they've been replaced by Pseudohumans."
Loren bent down and asked Movila. She shook her head, her face also wearing a puzzled expression.
Having lived in the Uridia Kingdom for so long now, she also understood the nature of vampires, which was why the events unfolding before her eyes left her feeling confused.
"You are going to the station, right? Allow us to escort you..."
"No need..."
Loren refused Furad's proposal. Their behavior today was far too strange, so Loren didn't want to get close to them, in case they had other motives.
"You will always be an ally to us vampires. If you have any needs, we will spare no effort to assist you."
Furad bowed deeply, only straightening up after Loren and the others had departed.
After Loren left, Ofemia finally had time to voice her confusion.
"What on earth happened?"
"Don't ask questions you shouldn't."
Furad glanced at Ofemia. In that instant, the pressure of her superior bloodline made Ofemia feel as if she had fallen into an icy abyss. By the time she regained her senses, her clothes were already soaked with cold sweat.
Prompted by Ofemia's question, Furad also recalled the situation at the time. Her door had been knocked. Furad initially thought it was some rude servant. She was just about to administer punishment when she saw a terrifying sight.
Just seeing that person's deep red eyes made Furad unable to resist the urge to kneel. She had never felt such profound fear before.
Furad had lived a long time and seen many things, but never once had she been as terrified as she was then.
"I apologize for disturbing you. I came here to ask a favor. I hope you will not act against the Master Mentor, is that alright?"
That was what the person said. Furad never dared to look up.
She didn't understand why that person would speak in such a tone. She only remembered that time felt especially long at that moment. Only after she subconsciously nodded did the person leave.
A long time later, Furad finally snapped out of it. Her first action was to go find Ofemia, not even bothering to change her clothes.
"If anyone else learns of today's events... a Marquis is worthless to me."
Furad's meaning was clear. Ofemia numbly nodded. Only after Furad left did Ofemia return home.
...
"We're going home!"
Sitting in the train carriage, Anna watched the scenery outside through the window. Sunlight was already visible on the horizon; they were about to leave the territory of the God of Night and Thunder.
Throughout the journey, Mirrorheart carefully held onto the suitcase, not even placing it on the luggage rack.
"Master Mentor, after we return, I'd like to go home first..."
Luna suddenly spoke up. She looked preoccupied, having been like this ever since Loren gave her the Night Amulet.
This situation often occurred. Luna always struggled with feelings of unworthiness. Her first thought upon receiving anything was always, 'Do I deserve to have this?'
This was caused by her family upbringing. So far, Loren had not been able to correct it.
"Do you need me to have someone escort you?"
"No need to trouble you..."
Luna once again refused Loren's help. Loren didn't press the matter, as being too proactive would only make Luna feel more inferior.
"Alright then."
After saying that, Loren lay back in his seat, enjoying Seraphina's massage.
Loren had originally been on guard against a vampire ambush, but then Furad personally came to apologize. However, even so, Loren did not let his guard down. Fortunately, nothing happened along the way, and Loren and the others returned safely and uneventfully to the Gedlan Kingdom.
After getting off the train, Luna parted ways with Loren and boarded a train home. Loren had pre-filled a backpack with souvenirs prepared for Luna and had her take it.
When taking the backpack, Luna was stunned for a moment. The better Loren treated her, the more inferior she felt.
After giving Luna a few words of advice, Loren left. However, Loren didn't forget to have Luna take one of Movila's clones with her. With Movila there, communication between them became much easier.
It was already night when they arrived home, but the lights in Loren's house were still on.
Even though Loren was away, there were still two maids at home.
With them there, Loren didn't need to do a major cleaning upon his return; they usually kept things tidy.
"Welcome home, Master."
Seeing Loren enter, the two maids put down their work and came forward to bow to him.
They also noticed the woman with dark red hair beside Loren, but they were already used to such sights.
"You've worked hard during this time."
Loren offered a polite remark in passing, and then he saw Mirrorheart, disregarding everything else, rushing into his bedroom while carrying the suitcase.
"..."
"Forget it, let's not worry about Mirrorheart for now. Seraphina, could you please prepare a meal?"
"Of course, Master."
Seraphina maintained her smile and led the other maid into the kitchen.
Upon returning, Loren noticed Flossie had become much more well-behaved, but he didn't pay it much mind and began inspecting the state of his home.
Usually, the area around the house was monitored by Movila, and there were two maids guarding the house, but Loren still wanted to be cautious.
"Cecelia, choose a room for yourself."
Throughout the entire journey, Cecelia had silently followed behind Loren without saying a word, to the point where the others had forgotten about her existence.
In fact, when Loren spoke to Cecelia, Scarlett was startled.
"Can I sleep under your bed..."
"I'll go lay out a mattress for you..."
Since Cecelia insisted on this, Loren had no other choice.
Fortunately, the house had been cleaned very thoroughly, and even under the bed was spotless.
By the time Loren returned to the living room, Mirrorheart had also walked out, carrying a large gift box.
"Master, I prepared a surprise for you. Open it and see."
Mirrorheart placed the gift box on the table. As everyone gathered around to look at it, a sudden sense of foreboding washed over Loren.
