Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted

Chapter 140: Siren

Chapter 140: Siren

A row of beach chairs were arranged on the deck, and everyone was lying on them, basking under a sun that didn't exist. It was an overcast day today, and the weather was quite chilly. They hadn't even taken off their clothes, simply enjoying the atmosphere.

In the dangerous Endless Ocean, only Loren would dare to act like this.

Loren couldn't tell where they were now either. The plan was just to keep going straight until they encountered a continent.

"Master Mentor, the fog seems to be getting thicker."

Hearing Anna's words, Loren also took off his sunglasses:

"Indeed."

They had been sailing on the sea for a day now. With the magical compass on board, Loren was certain he had been traveling in a straight line. So, they couldn't have circled back. Something must have happened here:

"You all head back into the cabin first. I'll check the situation."

As he spoke, Loren was also observing the distant scene. He was already enveloped in thick fog, and the scenery in the distance was unclear.

Loren had been constantly monitoring their surroundings. It felt like they had suddenly entered the dense fog.At sea, there were too many things that could create thick fog. Even Loren couldn't immediately determine what was happening.

Before the others could even retreat into the cabin, Loren spotted a massive figure within the fog.

"Turn!"

Whatever that was, putting distance between them was the best choice. Loren frantically tried to steer the Raging Tide to turn, but the usually responsive ghost ship suddenly went out of control. Even shouting the command to turn was futile.

"Master Mentor..."

Naclis was somewhat at a loss, instinctively staying by Loren's side instead of following his order to retreat.

It wasn't just Naclis. Upon realizing the danger, none of them hid away.

Because this time, they saw anxiety on Loren's face, indicating that even Loren wasn't one hundred percent confident of resolving this unscathed.

Loren drew Requiem. Against such a monster, mental intimidation and close combat attacks wouldn't be very effective. Loren planned to use Requiem to cast magic at any moment, and he even took out the Crimson Core.

Facing these strange giants, the damage amplification from Judgment probably wouldn't do much. This fight was going to be quite a struggle.

As the uncontrollable Raging Tide moved forward, Loren finally saw the true form of the giant. It was a humanoid creature, its body much larger than the Raging Tide.

Its body outline was more similar to a human female. Its face was very long with strange proportions. Its eyes were a blank white, and its mouth always wore a standard smile, but this smile looked extremely eerie on its face.

Compared to its body, its arms were much thinner, like bamboo poles, but its hands were very large.

Half of its body was submerged in the sea, out of Loren's sight.

The moment she saw this monster, Laila raised her gun, but Loren pressed down her muzzle before she could fire.

"What in the world is going on?"

Laila holstered her gun and asked. She knew Loren must have noticed something.

"This is a Sea Witch, the friendliest creature in the sea."

After recognizing what this was, Loren relaxed a little. Sea Witches couldn't create fog, meaning there was definitely something else within the mist. But the appearance of a Sea Witch meant they weren't in that much danger.

"The Sea Witch that adopted Mara? This Sea Witch looks way scarier than Mara. No wonder they get along."

Anna quipped, not knowing if the Sea Witch would be saddened if it heard.

The Sea Witch's hand suddenly reached towards Loren's ship. Its movement was slow, but its massive body was still overwhelmingly oppressive. Its palm could smash the Raging Tide to pieces.

Actually, Sea Witches were very fast. The reason its movement was so slow now was because it was afraid of scaring the humans before it.

Watching the palm get closer and closer to the ship, Scarlett trembled. Even knowing the Sea Witch wouldn't harm them didn't stop Scarlett from being afraid.

The Sea Witch simply cupped the Raging Tide in its hands. A ghost ship looked like a model ship in its grasp.

The previously uncontrollable Raging Tide was forcibly turned by the Sea Witch. The Sea Witch carried the Raging Tide forward through the sea, gradually moving out of the mist.

Only when the surrounding scenery became clear again did the Sea Witch set the Raging Tide down. It then pointed them in a direction and prepared to turn and leave.

"Goodbye!"

Loren waved at the Sea Witch. The Sea Witch, halfway through turning its body, suddenly froze. It seemed to have seen something it couldn't comprehend.

After a long while, the Sea Witch finally waved goodbye to Loren, then slowly sank into the water.

Loren only saw a black shadow flash through the water before the Sea Witch instantly vanished. It was then that the witches realized just how fast the Sea Witch was.

"Why did it help us? There's no benefit for it in doing this, right?"

Naclis voiced her confusion, not understanding the Sea Witch's actions.

"That's just the nature of Sea Witches, I suppose. Just as every witch is very pure-hearted, every Sea Witch also enjoys helping those in distress."

"Such a frightening appearance, yet such a beautiful heart? The complete opposite of glamorous-looking humans."

Laila also offered her evaluation. Having spent this time by Loren's side, she was very relaxed. Combined with Loren's earlier comment about witches, Laila subconsciously said something that might expose her identity.

"Perhaps that's not the case.

"I read the Dawn Princess's diary before. She wrote that Sea Witches were a kind and beautiful race. But now, Sea Witches have become like this. It's likely due to corruption."

There weren't many creatures in the ocean that looked 'normal'. The fact that the Merfolk could still maintain a humanoid form was truly a miracle.

Though, rather than a miracle, it was more that the Dawn Princess was simply too powerful.

Everyone continued forward in the direction the Sea Witch had indicated, successfully avoiding danger. Loren never did see what exactly was inside the mist, but that was a completely good thing.

Unless absolutely necessary, Loren didn't want to take risks, especially with the children by his side.

After proceeding for another half day, Loren finally saw the outline of land.

"Everyone, come up on deck! We've reached land!"

Only Loren and Naclis were on the deck. Originally, Mirrorheart was keeping Loren company, but Naclis said Mirrorheart was too tired and volunteered to take her place.

But that one act had nearly exhausted all of Naclis's courage. Even now, she was simply accompanying Loren without any other actions.

"Finally here?"

Anna was the first one to run out. Excited, she jumped right onto Loren, hugging him tightly, her chin resting on Loren's head as she gazed into the distance, indeed spotting a harbor.

"This... doesn't look like the territory of the God of Vows and Wind..."

Loren made a quick judgment. The harbor was very dilapidated, with only a few fishing boats docked. Even the houses by the harbor were simple wooden huts.
