Chapter 2321 - 2297: Bloody Investment
When Gao Yang calmly announced the amount of aid, his heart didn’t quite bleed, but it felt as if a knife had been drawn across it—painful.
Because all this money was laid out by Satan. Although ten million dollars wouldn’t pose any financial burden for Satan, ten million is no small figure, and most importantly, as Gao Yang said, this was just the first installment of aid.
Apart from money, there are weapons. Gao Yang indeed buys weapons cheaply, but cheap is relative compared to what others pay Grand Ivan for supplies; as long as it’s arms trade, there’s nothing truly cheap.
If you don’t risk something, you can’t gain anything. To earn a big score in Yemen, one worth enough for Satan’s entire membership to live a lifetime of luxury, to establish Satan’s big corporation, we have to first invest some capital.
Gao Yang has prepared two hundred million dollars, essentially all the liquid assets he and everyone in Satan could muster.
Gao Yang has put in substantial resources, but Abdullah’s face showed no signs of excitement, only the man who brought Gao Yang here, Salim, displayed signs of happiness, and the younger Yahya nodded slightly in satisfaction.
Abdullah is indeed a formidable presence in Yemen; he appeared very composed.
"I am deeply grateful for your country’s help and support. May I know when this aid can be realized?"
Abdullah didn’t ask about the second or third rounds of aid; he was only concerned with when the first batch would arrive.
Calmly enough, get the things first, Abdullah displayed great composure, not showing any emotion even in the face of such significant gifts. Gao Yang had a high opinion of Abdullah.
It seemed Abdullah was not someone easily dealt with. Gao Yang calculated briefly before refraining from directly answering Abdullah’s question, instead saying solemnly, "Beyond financial and material support, we also plan to send advisors to help you improve your soldiers’ combat capacity."
Abdullah slightly tilted his head and asked, "How will you help us improve our soldiers’ combat capacity?"
Gao Yang smiled and said, "Certainly through military advisors. Secret ones—I’ve brought some people, soon more will come, all carefully selected. They can help train your soldiers, and when necessary, they can even go into battle themselves. But this must be done secretly, keeping it confidential is our basic requirement."
Faced with Abdullah, who hadn’t flinched over the money and arms, he now nodded repeatedly. After pondering for a moment, he reached out to Gao Yang and said quietly, "Mr. Peter Ram, you have brought people, money, and the much-needed weapons to us. That’s great, but I want to know, what do you seek in return?"
Gao Yang replied calmly, "Your existence, development, and expansion are all we desire!"
Abdullah laughed heartily, stroked his beard for a moment, then turned his head to Gao Yang and said, "So, to my question earlier, when can we expect the aid?"
Gao Yang spread his hands and smiled, "I can’t bring ten million dollars in cash on me, nor enough weapons to arm two thousand men. As for cannons, those are far beyond what I can bring. So the money will be sent by a designated person, and the arms will take some time to transport, and since it’s secret transportation, it may be somewhat delayed. But, I believe completing it within a month shouldn’t be a problem."
Abdullah nodded and said, "Mr. Peter Ram, I have another query I would like you to answer for me."
"It is my honor, please ask."
Abdullah slowly said, "You claim to be the Secret Envoy of the president, I am curious, how do you prove your identity? Presidential handwriting? Or, official documents from Russia? Or proof from the Russian embassy? I don’t know how you prove it. I haven’t experienced something like this, so if you don’t mind, I’d like you to resolve my doubt."
Gao Yang’s face turned serious. He replied slowly and firmly, "I am not the Secret Envoy of the president, I am not related to any country’s president, I have no nationality, no identity, no mission. If you insist on asking my purpose in Yemen, then I can only say I am here traveling as a tourist."
Gao Yang resorted to playing rogue. He was using this ridiculously false answer to shut everyone’s mouth, ensuring no one could argue.
After answering Abdullah’s question with a rogue reply, Gao Yang shook his head and said, "Mr. Hasse, you must understand one thing: my arrival and everything I do represents no country, only myself. No matter how you inquire through any channel regarding anything about me or Russia, the answer you receive will be just one: I do not exist. Mr. Hasse, please understand, neither I nor anyone I’ve brought will be acknowledged by any country."
Abdullah shook his head with a smile and said, "I don’t understand. You are doing something important, but no one is providing you with a formal or appropriate identity?"
Gao Yang nodded with a smile, "Unfortunately, that’s the case. The one sitting before you is a Specter—a Shadow. You see me, but I don’t exist."
Abdullah sighed helplessly and said, "So, you mean I cannot verify your identity?"
Gao Yang shrugged and said, "I believe I’ve made it clear enough."
Abdullah sighed and said, "But if I can’t confirm your identity, how can I cooperate with you?"
Gao Yang replied calmly, "My friend, my brother, my respected Mr. Hasse, as long as what I do aligns with your interests and meets your needs, why should you concern yourself with who I am? Allowing myself a comment here, Russia already has enough troubles, this is not the time to get embroiled in an unnecessary mess. Some things can only be done and not spoken of—you surely understand this."
Abdullah became silent. After a while, Salim couldn’t help but say quietly, "Abdullah, I don’t think anyone would bring a large sum of money and arms to just give it to us for free, would they? Could this be a conspiracy? Would a conspiracy unfold like this?"
Abdullah suddenly asked, "So, after accepting the aid, do we have to follow some instructions sent from Moscow?"
Gao Yang smiled and said, "As I mentioned, the existence and expansion of Houthis Armed Forces is enough for us. We should naturally be allies, shouldn’t we?"
Abdullah nodded again and, raising his coffee cup to Gao Yang, said, "Mr. Peter Ram, how long do you plan to stay in Yemen?"
Gao Yang exhaled and replied, "If all goes well, I will be here for a long time, at least until the aid plan is completed."
