Chapter 2309 - 2285: Abnormal

Chapter 2309 - 2285: Abnormal

The doubts were resolved, although much more simply than imagined, Murphy was still very happy.

Murphy was in a much better mood. He waved his hand to Gao Yang and smiled: "How do you feel now?"

"How do I feel about what?"

"An outstanding sniper, what do you think?"

Gao Yang was silent for a moment, nodded and said: "I am indeed quite pleased. Phoenix is even more impressive than I imagined, and that’s certainly something to be happy about."

Murphy pointed at himself and said: "Thank me."

"Thank you."

"Let’s do something practical."

"I’ll treat you to a meal, you pick the restaurant."

"Forget the meal, cash would be better. How about 1,000,000? Just like the base salary you give to ordinary members."

"1,000,000 is impossible. How about 100 bucks?"

"I’d rather you treat me to a meal, I’ll choose the restaurant."

After joking casually, Murphy stretched out two fingers to Gao Yang and said: "I sent you two of the best talents, and your way of repaying me is really stingy, honestly."

Gao Yang shrugged his shoulders and said: "Number Thirteen doesn’t count."

Murphy leaned back and smiled at Gao Yang: "Also, now I say Phoenix is the best female sniper, you won’t deny it anymore, right?"

Gao Yang hesitated. After pondering for a moment, he nodded and said: "Currently, Phoenix is indeed the best. The female sniper I dealt with before had a fatal flaw, she was terrible with directions. So for now, well, Phoenix is the best female sniper."

Murphy chuckled, seemingly having some benefits from Gao Yang admitting Phoenix has always been the best.

With his head raised, squinting, and after a few laughs, Murphy’s smile suddenly vanished and he stared blankly at the ceiling for a while before suddenly waving his hand and said: "Let’s leave it at that, I should go to sleep."

Gao Yang still wanted to chat with Murphy, anyway, he was idle, but Murphy suddenly lost interest in talking.

Murphy was somewhat emotional, and quite significantly so.

Gao Yang wasn’t very familiar with Murphy, but he also knew Murphy’s mood swing was not quite normal. However, he couldn’t and didn’t want to probe why Murphy was like this, so he stood up and said: "Let me know if there’s any news, I’m going to the next room to rest for a while."

Murphy nodded, then said with a look of contemplation: "Sleep, sleep more, being able to sleep soundly without thinking of anything is indeed a blessing."

Gao Yang hesitated for a moment, feeling that Murphy’s words carried some meaning, so he shrugged and said: "You seem quite troubled, buddy."

Murphy also froze for a moment, then smiled and said: "Buddy, considering our profession, am I wrong? It’s late now, time to rest."

Gao Yang left Murphy’s room suspiciously and went next door, lay on the bed fully clothed, pondering Murphy’s words for a long time, but couldn’t figure out what Murphy was hinting at, or whether it was just the stress of work.

Thinking about Murphy’s stress, it should indeed be quite significant; being a double agent, and one with high status on both sides, it’s abnormal for it to be minor.

Gao Yang stopped overthinking. He was indeed tired, so he quickly fell asleep.

Slept until the next morning when Gao Yang’s room door was knocked. He immediately got up and opened the door, seeing Taylor with a fatigued face saying: "Boss, everything’s settled."

Gao Yang looked beside him and said: "How did it go, was everything smooth?"

Taylor nodded and said in a low voice: "Very smooth. I just played the role of bait; I wasn’t involved in the actual operation. Regarding details, I really can’t help."

After speaking, Taylor pointed to the room beside them and said: "They’re waiting for you inside; if you want to know more, you have to ask them."

Gao Yang quietly said: "Go inside and rest for a while. I’ll go find out what’s happening."

Taylor hesitated for a moment, then quietly said: "Boss, once you have time, we need to talk."

"Got it, give me a moment."

Gao Yang knocked on Murphy’s room door, and then pushed the door and entered.

Inside was just Murphy himself. Seeing Gao Yang, Murphy spread his hands and smiled: "Everything’s sorted, CIA sent six people, they’re all dead. My part of the work is done, how do you plan to place your people?"

Gao Yang said solemnly: "It’s impossible for Taylor to return to America. I’ll first place him in a safe spot, initially, he’ll go to Somalia."

Murphy nodded, then said: "Don’t forget your promise. If Taylor has another issue, it won’t be so easy to handle. You should keep that in mind. Alright, arrange your people, we should head back."

Gao Yang furrowed his brow: "Is it really that simple?"

"It’s really that simple!"

Gao Yang looked at Murphy, then said seriously: "I need to ensure Taylor’s safety on the road, and that requires your help."

Murphy shrugged and said: "Taylor will first be sent to the nearest airport, then he can fly to anywhere in the world."

Gao Yang looked at his watch, then said: "Make sure he safely reaches Europe, and then you don’t need to be involved."

Murphy nodded: "No problem."

Gao Yang waved a few times and said: "Regarding the details of this operation, are you planning to tell me anything?"

"There’s nothing worth mentioning; let’s not waste our time."

Gao Yang exhaled and said: "Alright, give me some time, I need to talk to Taylor, and then we’ll go back."

Gao Yang turned and left Murphy’s room, knocked on the door, called Taylor along, signaled him to stay silent, and only after finding an empty spot outside the motel did Gao Yang quietly say: "You can speak now, what do you want to talk to me about, are you worried about family?"

Taylor said in a low voice: "No."

After glancing around, Taylor sighed and said: "Boss, I’m in a big mess this time, I guess I won’t be able to return to my own home anymore."

Gao Yang said calmly: "I’m afraid so, brother, I’m very sorry."

Taylor shook his head and whispered: "It’s nothing; not being able to go home really isn’t much. Compared to that, this is already the best outcome. Boss, what I’m worried about isn’t that, but..."

Taylor hesitated a bit, then said quietly: "Don’t you feel something’s off? I mean, the cleaners."

Gao Yang said quietly: "There is something off, have you noticed anything?"

Taylor frowned and said: "Didn’t notice anything, but I feel the cleaners are a bit too reckless. They killed CIA agents without any scruples, completely disregarding the consequences of killing CIA agents. Boss, CIA is the world’s most powerful intelligence agency. For a secret group to be so reckless, don’t you think this is completely contrary to the cleaners’ previous principles?"

Gao Yang immediately said quietly: "Stop it, whatever the cleaners do is none of our concern."

After giving Taylor a signaling warning not to speak, Gao Yang said quietly: "The cleaners are our partners; we can’t do without them now, and what they do is none of our business. So stop thinking about these pointless matters, got it?"
