Chapter 2285 - 2261: Chairman

Joseph’s question was quite apt, and Gao Yang also felt he was quite an incompetent boss. Until now, he didn’t even know how many people worked at Solar System Company or how many operations had been undertaken.

Gao Yang nodded, "Oh, the chairman’s assistant, has she arrived?"

The receptionist smiled quickly, "The chairman’s assistant is in her office, sir. Do you have an appointment?"

"No."

"Then could you please provide your name and reason for visiting? I need to call the chairman’s assistant to see if she’s available to meet with you."

Gao Yang smiled, "Alright, call her and say Gao is here, that’ll do."

"Okay, please hold on."

The receptionist picked up the phone but soon appeared confused. She looked twice at Gao Yang, appearing very hesitant. After dialing two digits, she couldn’t resist her curiosity and cautiously asked, "Excuse me, are you a member of our company? Coincidentally, our chairman shares that name, and even more coincidentally, our chairman is Asian too."

Gao Yang smiled, "Yes, no need to guess, it’s me."

The receptionist’s mouth dropped open in shock, stammering, "I’m sorry, Chairman, I didn’t recognize you. It’s an honor to meet you, oh, sorry, I’ll call your assistant right away."

She hung up the phone, dialed a few more numbers, and once connected, promptly said, "Miss Kareem, the chairman is here, yes, he’s right here."

After the brief conversation, the receptionist hung up the phone and told Gao Yang, "Miss Kareem says she’ll be down shortly."

Another pseudonym, given Karima’s high sensitivity to her identity, changing names was routine. It would be unusual if she didn’t change names, but one problem was that Gao Yang didn’t even know what alias Karima was using now.

Soon, Karima emerged briskly through a side door, practically jogging by the end, despite wearing high heels, and she still ran steadily.

"You’re here."

Having rushed up to Gao Yang, Karima immediately said with a slightly complaining tone, "Why didn’t you notify me in advance so I could prepare?"

Gao Yang internally sighed but maintained his composure, responding plainly, "I came overnight for some urgent matters. Just stopping by briefly before leaving, it was quite rushed, so I didn’t notify you."

Karima realized her momentary lapse and took two deep breaths before replying just as smoothly, "Follow me, your office is on the second floor."

Gao Yang gestured helplessly to Joseph behind him, then followed the gracefully walking Karima into the elevator.

Karima wore a professional suit, her long, beautiful legs were encased in black stockings, exuding a strong office lady vibe. Coupled with her background as a beauty pageant winner and model, she possessed irresistible charm for most men.

She also had a strong allure for Gao Yang, and everyone, including Gao Yang, understood Karima’s thoughts. But unfortunately, Gao Yang had to pretend not to understand.

Karima stopped in front of an office door labeled ’Chairman’, took a breath, and turned the handle, saying to Gao Yang, "Come in, this is your office."

A large office desk, a giant globe, a sizable sofa, and several luxury armchairs, along with all the necessary office supplies and decor typical of an office, with a door at the side.

Karima pointed to the door, "Behind this is my office, it can also be accessed from the corridor. The other door leads to a resting room, if you need to rest."

Gao Yang looked around, sat briefly on his chair, adjusted his position slightly, then suddenly pointed at Joseph, "This is Joseph, my bodyguard since last night. You will likely see him often in the future."

Joseph and Karima nodded to each other with polite smiles, and Joseph resumed his wooden stance with his hands on his stomach.

Having introduced Joseph, Gao Yang glanced around and then uncomfortably said, "Let’s talk in your office, I need to understand the company’s operations, and there doesn’t seem to be any information here."

Karima, appearing all businesslike, gestured towards the door, "Please."

Joseph moved forward, indicating to Karima to let him open the door, then opened it and glanced inside.

Gao Yang rose, and as he reached the small door, he turned to Joseph, "Um, just wait here for a moment."

Slightly bowed, "I’ll be in the corridor, please."

Joseph closed the door after Karima entered, then stepped out to stand between the two office doors in the corridor.
