Mercenary’s War

Chapter 2183 - 2160: A Good Client

Chapter 2183 - 2160: A Good Client

The time has even been set.

Gao Yang always feels there’s an endless amount to learn from Yarebin, so when faced with Yarebin, he subconsciously hands over the leadership.

Gao Yang waits for Yarebin to give the next instructions, but Yarebin just looks at him. After a brief stare-down, Gao Yang finally can’t help but ask, "What about the next step? What do we do? How do we do it?"

Yarebin laughs and says, "Isn’t this supposed to be your decision?"

Gao Yang points to himself in surprise, "Me?"

Yarebin laughs and says, "Yeah, of course it’s you, unless you thought it might be me? You’re the leader of Satan, and I’m not. I help you analyze the situation and make some judgments, you can treat me like an advisor, but the final decision, of course, is yours."

Gao Yang scratches his head and then looks at Yarebin, "No, I think it’s better if you do it yourself. Just tell me what to do."

Yarebin shakes his head, "No, no, this won’t do. If I tell you what to do and you simply follow instructions, you’ll never grow. You won’t even have a chance to become the next me. Some things, you have to do yourself to truly understand. So once you understand the current situation, you must make the decision and implement it yourself."

Gao Yang smiles wryly, "I understand what you mean, but what if it’s such a big thing, a slight slip-up and everyone’s dead—it’s not appropriate for me to practice on such a matter, is it?"

Yarebin says seriously, "How many opportunities do you think you have like this? An opportunity to directly confront and go to war with the Cicero Family? Such an opportunity should not be missed."

Gao Yang chuckles, "Alright, then I’ll handle it myself."

Gao Yang understands, as a qualified mentor, Yarebin would never do the work for him. The more crucial the moment, the more Yarebin insists that he must handle everything himself. Yarebin doesn’t care about the risks and crises this might bring.

Once he understood this, Gao Yang didn’t hold back. He turned to Justin and waved, "Do we have any targets in Rome we can go after?"

Justin thought for a moment, then pointed at himself, "Can I speak? I never wanted you to be my pawns, not at all. But if I say something, it turns into you being my pawns."

Gao Yang dismissively says, "I know what’s up with you. If I suspected you now, you’d be dead already. Since I’m standing with you on the same side, it means I don’t consider you an outsider, nor an enemy."

Justin sighs, "Ram, there are things I need to say now, they’re very important. First, I have nothing now. To regain everything from the Cicero Family, I must rely on you. I even need your protection to survive."

Gao Yang nods, "That’s the situation, what’s the implication?"

Justin says seriously, "Of course it’s relevant. In the current situation, I can’t think of a reason you wouldn’t cultivate me as your puppet. If I were you, I wouldn’t pass up the chance to directly control the largest intelligence system outside of the government. No one would give up such an opportunity."

Gao Yang shrugs, "And then?"

Justin sighs, "Don’t try to control me, don’t try to elevate me to a patriarchal position as a puppet. If you do that, one of us will surely end up dead. I really don’t want that."

Justin is remarkably candid. Even though the timing of revealing these words is a bit premature and foolish, Gao Yang doesn’t dislike Justin’s straightforwardness.

Gao Yang nods, "Your worries have some merit, but you really don’t need to worry about that."

Justin responds quickly, "Let’s put it this way, we weren’t even friends before, just business partners. Now, you’re fighting for me, you’re giving me money, giving me people, helping me to regain lost things. Can I really believe you’re simply trying to assist me? Who would be so naive? Beyond controlling me in the future, I can’t think of any other reason for such actions."

Gao Yang stops smiling and seriously says, "Let me explain to you what I’ve told you before. I said I like giving help when it’s truly needed. Some people rely on cleverness, connections, power, or other things to get things done, but me, I rely on sincerity. I’m genuine, this isn’t boasting, I’m just telling you I rely on sincerity to earn trust and friendship."

Explaining his personality seriously, Gao Yang continues, "I connected with Mario because I needed a new intelligence source, but he tricked me, even tried to kill me. So I need revenge, I must have revenge. Then you also need to take down Mario for revenge and reclaim everything. With our aligned goals, and my need for your help, naturally I’ll help you—it’s that simple."

After finishing, Gao Yang says with a smile, "And you’re also my creditor, don’t forget you lent a hundred million to Grand Ivan. Grand Ivan couldn’t find you and gave the money to me. Now, since I’m targeting Mario, my efforts are helping both you and myself. Lastly, when you reclaim control over the Cicero Family, remember, I won’t blackmail you or install anyone around you to undermine your authority. I’ll leave Italy, and if I need intelligence, you’re the one who can provide, but if you’re not willing, it’s your call. Really, I hope to gain your friendship; the kind that can be sustained over a long time, not control you, because there’s no way I could."

Justin stares at Gao Yang, solemnly saying, "Are you serious?"

"Of course, do I look like I’m joking?"

Justin exhales, "Since childhood, we were taught not to have friends because friendships are unreliable. Betraying a friend isn’t much harder than drinking a not-so-tasty glass of wine. I was taught must trust and rely solely on family and brothers, but look at the result. Brothers of the same father are wholly unreliable; when Mario kills me and my family, he has no regard for brotherhood."

Justin turns his hand, "So, if what you’re saying is true, then I swear to the Virgin Mary, I will treat everything you’re doing now as an investment. I will consider you as my best client and business partner throughout my life. I might betray friends, kill brothers, but I would never betray or backstab clients who give me everything. Even if I die, I’ll ensure you remain as an excellent client for the Cicero Family—that’s the way it is."
