Chapter 280: Qin Qing Is Framed

After paying the bill, Qin Qing turned to Kong Ruoruo, An Dongye, and Kuroki Suzu. "We’ve had our fill, so where do you all want to go next?" she asked.

"Sister-in-law, where do you want to go? I know every fun spot on Qingfeng Road. Just name the place, and I’ll take you there," Kong Ruoruo said, striking the pose of a street-smart girl.

"I’m fine with anything," Kuroki Suzu said. She had no real say in the matter and maintained a minimal presence; she was only on Qingfeng Road to act as a bodyguard for Qin Qing and Kong Ruoruo.

"Sister-in-law, we came to Qingfeng Road to find our little brother, not to play around all the time," An Dongye chimed in. Despite her beauty, she had no interest in shopping or other typical girlish activities. In her view, the time spent shopping would be better used finding a head for target practice.

"No, no! We can’t go looking for my cousin! If he finds out we snuck over to Qingfeng Road, he’ll scold us," Kong Ruoruo protested, shaking Qin Qing’s arm coquettishly. "Sister-in-law, please just take us out to have some fun? Let’s not look for my cousin just yet, alright?"

"All you think about is having fun," Qin Qing said, affectionately pinching Kong Ruoruo’s cheek. Her affection for Ye Xiu naturally extended to his cousin. "Alright, we’ll go wherever you want, but only for today. Tomorrow, we’re going to find your cousin."

Truthfully, Qin Qing knew that Ye Xiu was probably already aware she was on Qingfeng Road. The fact that he hadn’t called meant he was letting her and Kong Ruoruo have their fun. But she couldn’t just play around forever. She had come to Qingfeng Road to help Ye Xiu, not to add to his burdens.

"Mhm, Sister-in-law, you’re the best! I’m so envious of my cousin for finding such a wonderful wife." Seeing Qin Qing agree, Kong Ruoruo was overjoyed and immediately laid on the flattery.

Thoroughly pleased by the compliment, Qin Qing said, "Alright, let’s go!"

"Okay!"

Just as the four of them were about to leave, Xiong Wei and his friends surrounded them.

"And where are you all off to?" Xiong Wei, a towering man of one-point-nine meters, looked down at Qin Qing with a sneer.

"Where we go is none of your business, is it?" Qin Qing replied, her face devoid of expression.

"True, where you go is not my concern. But since you dared to insult me, I can’t let you leave," Xiong Wei said with a cold laugh.

"Insult you?" Qin Qing, Kong Ruoruo, An Dongye, and Kuroki Suzu exchanged glances, wondering when they could have possibly insulted this bear of a man.

Qin Qing demanded, "Which one of your ears heard us insult you?"

"Yeah! You say we insulted you, but do you have any proof?" Backed by Qin Qing, An Dongye, and Kuroki Suzu, Kong Ruoruo was fearlessly defiant.

"Sister-in-law, why are you even engaging with him? He just saw that we’re pretty and is looking for an excuse to hit on us. I’ve seen this a million times. It’s completely unoriginal," An Dongye said with the air of someone who had seen it all.

Kuroki Suzu remained silent. As a bodyguard, her presence was only felt when it was time to fight.

"Hmph! Do you take me for the kind of man who would stoop to any level just to chase women? I wouldn’t debase myself by falsely accusing someone for a woman’s sake. Since I said you insulted me, I naturally have proof," Xiong Wei retorted coldly.

"Then show me this proof," Qin Qing said.

"Fine!" Xiong Wei crooked a finger at the server and commanded, "Come here. In front of them, repeat word for word how Qin Qing insulted me."

The server had been eavesdropping the entire time. When Xiong Wei called her over, she shuddered in fear. Shen Congwen had only told her to frame Qin Qing, not to act as a witness. But it was too late now; she had to bite the bullet. Feigning composure, she walked over and said, "Qin Qing said that all members of the Xiong Family have more brawn than brains, and that Xiong Wei in particular is a fool with an IQ lower than the patients in a mental institution."

These were the words Shen Congwen had instructed her to relay to Xiong Wei. Since he hadn’t asked before, she hadn’t said them, but now they proved useful.

Upon hearing this, the expressions of Qin Qing, Kong Ruoruo, An Dongye, and Kuroki Suzu turned grim. They had never said any such thing; it was obvious the server was framing them.

The surrounding onlookers who heard the server’s testimony all thought Qin Qing was done for. Everyone on Qingfeng Road knew that the Xiong Family members were all brawn and no brain, and they knew the family was incredibly sensitive about anyone commenting on their intelligence. In the past, many people, even some from prominent families, had scorned the Xiong Family members as brainless warriors. Without exception, they had all suffered the Xiong Family’s frenzied retaliation. The Xiong Family had always used brute force to defend their members’ intelligence!

"Qin Qing, what do you have to say now?" Xiong Wei asked coldly, fighting the urge to smash her head in with a single punch.

"Are you from the Xiong Family?" Qin Qing asked.

"What a stupid question! You already insulted me, and now you’re pretending you don’t know who I am?" Xiong Wei said angrily.

"You’re lying! We don’t even know you, so how could we have possibly insulted you..." Kong Ruoruo began to argue indignantly, but Qin Qing cut her off.

"That’s right. I said it. What are you going to do about it?" Qin Qing stared coldly at Xiong Wei, admitting to it directly.

She had heard from Ye Xiu that the Xiong Family were allies of the Shen Family. Since Ye Xiu came to Qingfeng Road for revenge against the Shen Family, the Xiong Family was bound to be a major obstacle. Since this man was from the Xiong Family, there was no point in arguing. It would be far easier to simply eliminate him now!

"Sister-in-law."

"Sister-in-law."

"Qin Qing!"

Unaware of Qin Qing’s thoughts, Kong Ruoruo, An Dongye, and Kuroki Suzu could only stare in disbelief. They couldn’t understand why she would admit to something she hadn’t done.

The server and Shen Cong’an, who was watching from a short distance away, were equally baffled, wondering what Qin Qing was planning. Who in their right mind would take the blame for something like this? Is she brain-dead?

"Good. Very good. I’m glad you admit it," Xiong Wei growled, his eyes wide with fury. "It’s been years since anyone dared to insult the Xiong Family. It seems people have forgotten the consequences!

"Today, I’ll use you to remind everyone that insulting the Xiong Family comes with a price. You’re the wife of the Xuanse Medicine King, Ye Xiu. Using you to set an example will be even more effective."

The onlookers gasped at Xiong Wei’s words, their shocked gazes falling upon Qin Qing. She’s the wife of the Xuanse Medicine King, Ye Xiu?

"Cut the crap and get to the point. What do you want?" Qin Qing said impatiently.

"What do I want? Why, to show you how formidable I am, of course." A lewd smile spread across Xiong Wei’s lips as he commanded, "Men, seize all four of them! Today, I’m going to present Ye Xiu with a cuckold’s cap. I’ll let everyone know that even the wife of Ye Xiu must pay the price for humiliating the Xiong Family!"

At his words, his cronies immediately began to close in lewdly, their hands outstretched like claws, ready to grab them.

Seeing this, the crowd began to panic. Out of blind admiration for Ye Xiu, they didn’t want to see his wife be humiliated. But they were powerless to save Qin Qing.

"I suggest you all think carefully before you make a move," Qin Qing said, kindly warning Xiong Wei’s friends, as she didn’t want to harm the innocent. "Otherwise, you will face consequences you cannot possibly bear."
