Chapter 258: Whose Scary Technology Is Superior
Chapter 258: Whose Scary Technology Is Superior
Ye Xiu saw right through the old man’s scheme. After a decade of navigating the treacherous world abroad, he had seen and experienced too many conspiracies to be fooled by such a petty ploy.
"Old timer, enough is enough," Ye Xiu warned, his voice cold. "If you walk by the river long enough, your shoes are bound to get wet. Provoke the wrong person, and the next thing you know, the funeral horns will blare, a white cloth will be draped over you, and your loved ones will gather for a final meal. It’ll be too late for regrets then!"
"Hey now, are you trying to hit me?" the old man cried out, feigning grievance. "It was bad enough when you insulted me, but now you want to hit me? Is bullying the elderly all you young people know how to do?"
"You..." Ye Xiu’s brow furrowed. This old man’s talent for framing people is something else.
The surrounding passengers were furious.
"How shameless! First, he insults the old man, and now he’s threatening him. Utterly disgraceful."
"What? Are you planning to follow him when he gets off and beat him up in some deserted place?"
"This is outrageous! We have to take his picture and post it online. Let the whole country see the true face of this scum!"
"That’s right! Take his picture, post it online, and dox him!"
"Let his family, friends, and coworkers see what he’s really like!"
As the passengers scrambled for their phones, they watched Ye Xiu calmly put on a pair of sunglasses and a mask.
"Make it a good shot," Ye Xiu said, striking a pose. "And don’t forget to touch it up!"
The passengers were utterly defeated by his shamelessness. The old man, meanwhile, was incredibly disappointed to see his tried-and-true trick fail so spectacularly. He began muttering to himself, trying to incite the onlookers to berate Ye Xiu.
Though furious, Ye Xiu refrained from bullying the weak. The dignified Huang Quan can’t just use force on an old man with one foot in the grave.
Finally, the old man’s stop arrived.
"Well, look at that. We’re getting off at the same stop," Ye Xiu said, standing up with a smile.
The surrounding passengers gasped. This shameless guy really is going to beat up the old man.
The old man realized it too. A mix of fear and anger rose in him as he demanded, "Are you getting off here so you can find an empty spot and beat me up?"
Ye Xiu didn’t answer, simply stepping off the bus first.
At that moment, a burly young man spoke up. "Sir, I’ll walk you home. If he dares to touch you, I’ll beat him down. I’m a Taekwondo black belt and an amateur boxer."
The other passengers immediately showered the young man with praise.
"Thank you, thank you, young man! You’re a good person!" the old man said, a wave of relief washing over him as he quickly expressed his thanks.
"Don’t mention it. Let’s get off," the young man said, helping the old man up.
"Yes, yes. Good deeds are always rewarded. You have a bright future ahead of you, young man," the old man praised.
After they got off, they saw Ye Xiu waiting just a short distance away, exactly as they had feared.
"Kid, if you take one more step, I’ll beat you to a pulp," the young man threatened, pointing at Ye Xiu, before escorting the old man toward the station exit.
Ye Xiu followed at a leisurely pace.
Once outside the station, the young man saw Ye Xiu was still trailing them. He spun around, marched up to Ye Xiu, and said coldly, "Kid, are you asking for a beating?"
"People like him are just asking for it! Young man, go on and beat him up! Do society a favor!" the old man instigated.
"Alright, sir. Today, I’ll make him pay for what he did to you." With that, the young man swung a right hook at Ye Xiu’s face.
SLAP!
Ye Xiu effortlessly caught the punch. Then, with a swift kick—WHAM!—he sent the young man flying five meters. The youth curled up on the ground, clutching his stomach, unable to even get up.
"This..." The old man’s face went pale. He couldn’t believe the hulking man, who stood over six feet tall, hadn’t lasted a single move against Ye Xiu. I’ve really messed with the wrong person today!
"Old man, forget him. Even if there were ten of them, I could beat them so badly they wouldn’t get out of bed for weeks," Ye Xiu said with a smile. "Now, how do you think I’m going to deal with you?"
Terrified, the old man turned and fled. Just moments ago on the bus, he had been a frail man trembling on a cane, but now he ran as if his life depended on it, surprisingly fast.
Ye Xiu followed leisurely behind him. I won’t lay a hand on him. I’ll just follow. I’ll scare him to death! Teaching a lesson to a disrespectful, malicious old man like him requires special measures. Hopefully, this will scare him straight. Otherwise, he’ll just go on to harm someone else tomorrow.
"Help! Somebody help me!" the old man shrieked as he ran, glancing back to see Ye Xiu still in pursuit. His desperate cries drew stares from countless passersby.
Ye Xiu calmly explained to anyone who looked, "He just got out of the mental hospital. I’m taking him out for some fresh air."
The passersby nodded in understanding. Oh, so he’s a mental patient.
Seeing that no one was coming to his aid, the old man’s face turned green with fear, and large beads of sweat streamed down his face. When he reached an intersection, he spotted traffic officers directing cars. He sprinted over to them and begged for help. "Someone’s trying to hit me! It’s that man behind me!"
The traffic officers frowned. Who would be so lawless as to bully an old man in broad daylight on a public street? They turned to look at the approaching Ye Xiu, fully intending to apprehend him and hand him over to the proper authorities to be taught a lesson.
But just as they were about to move, they saw Ye Xiu take off his mask.
Oh my god! Huang Quan?
"Uh, Mr. Ye," one officer with a strong sense of justice said, steeling himself. "A man of your stature shouldn’t be bullying an old man, should he?"
Seeing the officers seemingly take his side, the old man’s inner actor took over. "He’s been bullying me for days!" he cried. "Yesterday, he robbed me of 100,000 yuan! That was my life savings, for my wife’s surgery..." Since I have the law on my side, I might as well try to make some money out of this.
Huang Quan, a robber? The officers could hardly believe their ears.
"Here’s what happened..." Ye Xiu calmly recounted the entire story from the beginning.
After hearing him out, the officers were left speechless. They realized it was the old man who needed to be taught a lesson.
"He’s lying! Don’t believe a word he says!" the old man protested loudly, trying to use his usual framing trick to mislead the officers.
The officers completely ignored him. They couldn’t believe that the great Huang Quan would stoop to making up stories to frame an old man.
"You can leave this to me. Go on about your business," Ye Xiu told them.
"Yes, sir!" The officers immediately departed.
The old man was dumbfounded. Having lived a long life, he was a shrewd judge of character, and he could clearly see the officers’ deferential attitude toward Ye Xiu. This guy is no ordinary person! Damn it, I’ve gone and offended a big shot!
"Hehe..." Ye Xiu chuckled, cracking his knuckles as if he were about to beat the old man.
"Ah!" the old man screamed in terror and turned to run again.
Ye Xiu resumed his leisurely pursuit.
"Hey!" Just then, a car pulled up beside Ye Xiu. The window rolled down, and an excited voice called out, "It’s me, Shen Monong!"
"You’ve come at the perfect time!" Ye Xiu said, getting into the car. He pointed at the old man running ahead. "Follow him, but don’t rush."
"Okay!" Shen Monong was thrilled. She didn’t know Ye Xiu’s name or address and had just been driving around, trying her luck. She couldn’t believe she had found him so quickly. Now I just need to find a way to poison him, and I can save my father, Shen Shijie! But she was still puzzled. "Why are you chasing an old man?"
"I told you to follow, so just follow," Ye Xiu said, his face expressionless.
"Oh, alright."
After running for a bit, the old man glanced back. Huh? Where did he go? Did he give up because he couldn’t keep up?
Before he could feel relieved, a voice from right beside him nearly scared him to death.
"I’m over here!"
The old man looked over and gasped in exasperation. Fuck! This shameless little bastard is chasing me in a car!
Terrified, he forced himself to keep running. After more than half an hour, his legs gave out, and he collapsed onto the pavement.
Shen Monong stopped the car beside him.
Ye Xiu leaned out the window and asked mockingly, "What’s wrong? Not running anymore?"
The old man was on the verge of tears, panting for breath. "I was wrong! I’ll never do it again! Please, just let me go this once. I’m too old for this... I can’t take this kind of torment..."
Ye Xiu saw genuine remorse in the man’s eyes. "Alright," he said coldly. "I’ll give you one more chance. But if I ever hear about you causing trouble again, I’ll stuff you down a sewer and listen to you gurgle."
"I won’t! I’ll never dare to again!" the old man hastily promised.
"Good." Ye Xiu nodded in satisfaction, rolled up the window, and turned to Shen Monong. "Have you had dinner yet?"
"No!" Shen Monong shook her head. "Um, how about I treat you?"
"Sure," Ye Xiu nodded.
Shen Monong was ecstatic. Dinner is the most convenient time to poison him.
