Chapter 252: Peerless Fierce Weapon, Dragon Sparrow
Chapter 252: Peerless Fierce Weapon, Dragon Sparrow
As they neared the Shen Family estate, Ye Xiu still hadn’t spoken.
Shen Monong was about to break the silence when she suddenly heard the phone in Ye Xiu’s pocket vibrate. She watched as he took out his phone and opened a text message. Shen Monong’s eyes widened as she tried to sneak a peek.
Gong Jin? A woman’s name, and such a lovely one at that. She must be a beauty.
Shen Monong suddenly felt a sour pang of jealousy. She tried to peek at the message again, but Ye Xiu angled the phone away.
She sucked in a sharp breath. Don’t get angry, don’t get angry! I’m not angry!
The message from Gong Jin read: "Young Master, Lian Chengbi confessed! Fifteen years ago, Lian Haidong accidentally obtained a treasured sword that could slice through iron like mud. However, the sword was missing its most crucial component: the Bloodstone in Qiu Yunxuan’s possession. Lian Chengbi said that only by inlaying the gemstone into the hilt can the sword unleash its true power."
Oh? A sword that relies on a mysterious Bloodstone to unleash its power is definitely no ordinary weapon. It might even be on the same level as my Battle Soul Blade.
He then found Leng Yue in his contacts and began composing a text. This was all witnessed by the snooping Shen Monong.
Leng Yue? Another woman! HISS! Don’t get angry, don’t get angry, don’t get angry!
"Is Auntie’s Bloodstone still with you?" Ye Xiu texted.
Leng Yue replied, "Yes. I’ve already sent your uncle’s family back to Jin Ye City and am currently on my way to Qingfeng Road."
"The Bloodstone must not be lost. Protect it at all costs," Ye Xiu wrote before putting his phone back in his pocket.
Then, he heard Shen Monong huff, "Playboy!"
"How am I a playboy?" Ye Xiu asked, completely bewildered.
"You’re pursuing me while flirting with two other girls. What are you if not a playboy?" Shen Monong demanded indignantly.
"Alas!" Ye Xiu sighed. "Knowing you has taught me the true meaning of ’brainless.’ The old sayings are true!"
"You..." Shen Monong was furious and about to argue that she was intelligent, but before she could speak, Ye Xiu’s tone suddenly turned grave. "The Lian Family is here!"
Shen Monong glanced at the rearview mirror. Sure enough, dozens of cars were speeding toward them, quickly overtaking her. Suddenly, one car slowed down, stopping in front to block her path, which startled her into slamming on the brakes.
Five men got out of the car ahead and surrounded her vehicle. One of them taunted, "What a coincidence, Miss Shen, running into you here. Get out. Old Man Lian said you’re to be buried with Lian Zhengrong!"
Shen Monong ignored him and looked at Ye Xiu. "It’s your turn to shine. Protect me and give them a good thrashing."
Ye Xiu opened the door, got out, and stared coldly at the five men. "Is there a problem?"
When the five men saw Ye Xiu’s face, they froze.
Holy shit! Isn’t this the guy who killed Lian Zhengrong with a single kick and knocked Lian Chengbi unconscious with one slap before hauling him away? He must be a Great Grandmaster at least! We’re no match for him.
"Hehe, no problem, we got the wrong person," the man who had spoken earlier said with an obsequious smile and a slight bow. Then, all five of them scrambled back into their car and sped off. They fled so quickly they’d leave a bolt of lightning in the dust.
Ye Xiu got back in the car. "Taken care of."
Shen Monong was dumbfounded. "Why are they afraid of you?"
"You’ll find out," Ye Xiu smiled. When I annihilate the Shen Family, you’ll experience a fear far deeper than theirs.
"Putting on an act again!" Shen Monong was sick to death of his posturing. "I’m reminding you, I hate posers more than anything. If you want to pursue me, you’d better drop the pretentious act."
Ye Xiu replied, "...Heh."
Just like the Mo Family in Jin Ye City, the entire Shen Family, along with the Loose Cultivators and their families who were attached to them, all lived in a single residential complex. By the time Ye Xiu and Shen Monong arrived, the complex was already a chaotic battlefield.
Neither side had deployed many fighters, only about a hundred each, with reinforcements still on the way. Ye Xiu’s eyes immediately found Lian Haidong locked in a fierce battle with the Poison King. More precisely, he saw the sword in Lian Haidong’s hand.
It was a strange and treasured sword with a blade that was entirely pitch-black.
The Dragon Sparrow? This... Ye Xiu could hardly believe it. The sword Lian Chengbi had mentioned, the one Lian Haidong had found that could slice iron like mud, was actually the Dragon Sparrow.
"What’s a Dragon Sparrow?" Shen Monong asked, sensing the weight of his words without understanding.
"A peerless, malevolent weapon. Legend says it contains a bound Demon Spirit..." Realizing he had said too much, Ye Xiu abruptly stopped and changed the subject. "Come on. Take me to your great-grandfather Shen Songshan’s residence."
"How are we supposed to get in with all this fighting?" Shen Monong asked.
"Just tell me which building Shen Songshan is in. I’ll fight our way through," Ye Xiu said.
"Can you really do that?" Shen Monong was highly skeptical, thinking he was just boasting. Last night at the bar, she had guessed his strength was at least that of an Eighth Grade Grandmaster, but the Lian Family had a whole host of Grandmasters, Great Grandmasters, and even a War God.
"Just tell me. Stop dawdling," Ye Xiu snapped.
His assertive demeanor at that moment completely mesmerized Shen Monong—she had a weakness for masculine men. Pointing to the top of a 45-story building, she said, "Look, my great-grandpa, grandpa, and dad are all up there."
Ye Xiu glanced up, then grabbed Shen Monong’s small hand with his left and strode into the complex.
Shen Monong jumped, startled that he actually dared to charge in. However, the thrilling feeling of his masculine hand holding hers made her heart race.
Just then, a Great Grandmaster from the Lian Family spotted them and charged forward with a saber, causing Shen Monong to scream in terror. But then she watched as Ye Xiu effortlessly snatched the saber from the Great Grandmaster and cut him down with a single slash.
HISS? Is he really that powerful?
Meanwhile, on the rooftop of Building 15, all the members of the Shen Family’s Main Lineage, along with promising members from the branch families, were gathered. None of the Shens had joined the battle, all of them pretending to know no Martial Arts. Their attention was fixed on the fight between Lian Haidong and the Poison King, so they hadn’t noticed Ye Xiu’s arrival.
"When did Lian Haidong get so strong? Even though the Poison King didn’t participate in the War God assessment, his overall strength is definitely in the top 100, yet he’s no match for Lian Haidong. It seems Lian Haidong was holding back during the War God ranking battles," Shen Qilin said in astonishment.
"Lian Haidong’s strength is about the same as the Poison King’s," said the nearly hundred-year-old Shen Songshan, his eyes burning with greed as they remained fixed on the sword in Lian Haidong’s hand. "The only reason he can suppress the Poison King is because of that sword."
Saying this, he ordered, "Qilin, call and hurry the reinforcements. We must keep Lian Haidong here today. I want that sword!"
"Yes!" Shen Qilin quickly took out his phone to call for backup.
"Grandpa, look over there!" Shen Shihao suddenly shouted, pointing down. "That’s the man who kicked Lian Zhengrong to death and abducted Lian Chengbi!"
