Liu Gao discreetly glanced at Lian Zhengrong in the crowd.

"Stop!" Shen Monong cried out. Ye Xiu was stepping in to defend her; she couldn’t let him get beaten up for it.

The five thugs, however, paid her no mind, and Shen Monong grew frantic!

The other patrons in the bar watched on with glee. Fights were a common occurrence here, and they always loved a good show.

Five against one! This overconfident, wannabe hero was finished!

Lian Zhengrong smiled. There’s no way this guy can beat five thugs who live by the knife.

Liu Gao’s line of thinking was even simpler. He’s an extra hired by Young Master Lian. He’ll definitely cooperate and let my guys take him down.

The first thug to reach Ye Xiu threw a straight punch at his face, but Ye Xiu easily caught his wrist.

An act? The entire crowd was dumbfounded.

From his spot in the crowd, Lian Zhengrong’s face turned grim. That idiot Liu Gao! Announcing it was an act in front of everyone... he’s completely sold me out!

"An act?" Ye Xiu repeated, taken aback for a moment before realization dawned on him. "So, you were all hired to harass this lady, setting the stage for your employer to swoop in and play the hero?"

After hearing Ye Xiu’s words, the onlookers suddenly understood. So that’s what was going on! What an expensive way to pick up a girl!

"Who hired you?" Shen Monong asked, glaring coldly at Liu Gao.

"Huh?"

Liu Gao now realized he had slipped up. It was obvious that Ye Xiu wasn’t the extra hired by Lian Zhengrong. "Uh, I... I don’t know what you’re talking about," he stammered.

"Since you were hired for this, you should know who I am. If you don’t start talking, I can easily send people to have a chat with your family," Shen Monong said, her voice turning to ice.
