Chapter 972 680: Son-in-Law
Chapter 972 680: Son-in-Law
"You old bat, putting on airs on my turf."
An ancient voice echoed through the valley. Li Zheng followed the direction of the sound and saw a pair of blood-patterned black wings spread wide with a thunderous roar, blocking out most of the mountainside.
"Haven't you stayed the same after all these years?" The Blood Queen looked at those black wings, sneering repeatedly.
The ancient voice paused for a long time before speaking again: "Forget it, after all these years, letting you have your way once won't change anything."
Whoosh!
The black wings withdrew, and an elder with a beard and hair reaching down to his knees flew from the mountain. Atop his head were two thick dragon horns, looking quite fierce.
But his appearance was gentle, with kind eyes and a benevolent forehead.
"I am here, will you come down with me?" The elder stopped before Mo Li and the others. More than a dozen robust men of the Black Dragon Race respectfully saluted and stood aside.
"Should have done this sooner, no?" The Blood Queen said arrogantly: "Descend."
Hundreds of the Blood Race retracted their wings and descended into the mountains.
Li Zheng glanced around and had no choice but to follow Mirel down as well.
Upon entering the mountains completely, he discovered that wooden houses were built on the branches of towering ancient trees, forming a sizable town.
Members of the Blood Patterned Black Dragon Race stood at the doors of their tree houses, watching them.
Seeing the elder, the Black Dragons bowed in salute.
Li Zheng realized that Mo Li hadn't entirely lied. After coming out of dormancy, the Blood Patterned Black Dragon Race would undergo a transformation, but what they would become was beyond their control.
Li Zheng saw many Blood Patterned Black Dragons who were close to human appearance, with almost no features of a Blood Patterned Black Dragon left.
However, most retained some obvious traits like dragon horns, dragon tails, or dragon claws.
The tribesmen with Black Dragon characteristics generally had slightly weaker strengths compared to those more humanoid in appearance.
Nevertheless, their overall strength was not to be underestimated. Every Blood Patterned Black Dragon Li Zheng encountered was full of energy, exuding a fierce aura regardless of gender, each possessing at least basic middle-tier strength, even the weakest.
Li Zheng knew that what he saw wasn't everything, as all those Black Dragons had completed their transformation, indicating that many young Black Dragons, yet to take their final form, lived somewhere in the mountains, waiting for their transformation.
"Ancestor." In front of the largest and most ornate wooden house, a slightly dark-skinned, exquisitely featured girl around seventeen or eighteen, bowed to welcome the elder's return.
"Yan Yi." The elder landed in front of the door and said to the young girl, "Go bring your sister, tell her that her relatives have come to pick her up."
"Yes." Yan Yi glanced at the Blood Race group following them down, quickly fixing her gaze on Li Zheng and Mirel, then left, flying into the denser part of the forest at the back of the mountain.
Hearing this, Li Zheng was surprised. Since when did Little Cherry become the other party's sister?
The Blood Race team landed between the tree houses, their expressions blank.
The Blood Queen waved her hand: "Leave a few at the door, the others can move around freely."
Then she pointed at Dan Fenglai, who was trying to sneak away and said, "Fenglai, you stay with Li Zheng and that Enchanting Demon, and follow me."
When she mentioned Mirel, Li Zheng noticed a clear glimmer of disdain in the Blood Queen's eyes.
Mirel, not understanding why the Blood Queen held such animosity towards her, hugged Li Zheng's left arm tightly, whispering, "She seems to dislike me very much."
Li Zheng replied quietly, "I noticed, too. Just ignore her, act like she doesn't exist. As soon as we get Little Cherry, we'll leave this place and return to the Outer City."
"Okay." Mirel nodded obediently.
Seeing them clinging to each other, Dan Fenglai moved two steps aside.
The Blood Queen, dissatisfied, told her, "Fenglai, hold his right arm, don't let that little hussy from the Enchanting Demon Race take all the benefits!"
Dan Fenglai paused reluctantly, a bitter look on her face, unwillingly approaching Li Zheng to take his right arm.
Only then did the Queen nod in satisfaction, turning to walk into the wooden house.
Dan Fenglai whispered, "I'm only doing this to please Grandmother, don't get any ideas. I will never fall for you!"
Li Zheng was speechless, thinking, "As if I would ever be interested in you. Your personality is so terrible, not even a tenth of Mirel's charm. Marrying you would be an eight-generation bad luck."
He had decided to find a way to get rid of Dan Fenglai. Just the thought of listening to the Blood Queen's arrangement and keeping her at his side would make the days troublesome.
Noticing Mo Li and two robust men following closely behind them, Li Zheng slowed his pace and asked, "What the hell is all this? Were you lying to me before? There's no one interested in Little Cherry, and you just used this excuse to lure me to the Black Dragon Ancestral Land?"
Mo Li glanced at the two tribesmen beside her, her eyes straight ahead: "Don't ask me, all this is arranged by the ancestor and has nothing to do with me. I know nothing."
"Nothing to do with you? You know nothing?" Li Zheng was almost furious: "Do you think I would believe that nonsense?"
"Hehe," the robust man on the left chuckled, "son-in-law, don't make it hard for Mo Li. She's just following the ancestor's orders."
"I don't care, you tricked me into this, you have to help sort this out... Wait a minute." Li Zheng was about to convince Mo Li to help him when he realized something, looking at the robust man on the left with surprise: "What did you call me? Son-in-law? When did I become your son-in-law?"
At this moment, the elder's voice came from inside the wooden house: "Ali, aren't you coming in?"
Mo Li's face flushed slightly, bypassing Li Zheng to walk into the wooden house.
Li Zheng found this even more baffling. What's with the blushing, for goodness' sake?
Suddenly, a possibility struck him, making him feel a chill down his spine, wondering: "No way?!"
Then, with Mirel and Dan Fenglai on either side, he walked into the wooden house as well.
The interior of the wooden house was spacious, with several low tables set up. The Black Dragon elder and the Blood Queen sat side by side facing the entrance.
Beside them, another seat was empty, prepared for someone unknown.
Mo Li sat on the left, staring in a daze at the dishes of fruit on the low table.
As the trio entered, a Black Dragon girl standing nearby approached and said softly, "This way, please."
She was addressing Mirel and Dan Fenglai.
Dan Fenglai instinctively looked towards the Blood Queen. Seeing her grandmother nod, she happily released Li Zheng, following the girl to sit beside Mo Li.
Mirel looked to Li Zheng.
Li Zheng said, "You go too."
Mirel was arranged to sit on the other side of Dan Fenglai, with another empty seat next to her as well.
Li Zheng grew increasingly uneasy, feeling like something big was about to happen.
"Son-in-law, your seat is here," another Black Dragon girl approached, guiding Li Zheng to the only available seat opposite Mirel and the others.
