Chapter 229 - 230: I’m a Die-hard Fan
Chapter 229 - 230: I’m a Die-hard Fan
The Mirror Ghost, its face now a mangled mess, stared dumbfoundedly at Su Nian. Its eyes, one suddenly large and the other small, perfectly illustrated the meaning of staring at each other in stunned silence.
Anyone it targeted would inevitably become ensnared, bit by bit, until they died a painful death.
But now, it had just been brutally punched twice?
The Mirror Ghost gritted its teeth. "How dare you hit me?"
SMACK!
Su Nian switched from a fist to an open palm and landed another heavy slap.
It looked like a light tap, but the force of it nearly knocked the Mirror Ghost’s eyeballs out.
Before it could even finish its threat, the Mirror Ghost was back to staring dumbfoundedly at Su Nian, its eyes locked with hers in stunned silence.
The corners of Su Nian’s mouth quirked up, her beautiful eyes filled with sarcasm and contempt. It gave the Mirror Ghost the distinct feeling of a mouse that had just run straight into a cat’s paws.
The Mirror Ghost shuddered and instinctively looked for a reflective surface to escape. It was about to dive headfirst into a nearby glass of water when Su Nian’s hand shot out and clamped around its neck, choking it tightly. How could it possibly escape?
It could hide perfectly within mirrors, and once someone fell into its trap, death was only a matter of time. Its power was considered inescapable, which was why its very name made other Daoists turn pale with fear.
After all, reflective surfaces were everywhere in daily life, making it impossible to avoid. In its time as a ghost, it had claimed countless lives... until it fell into Su Nian’s hands.
The entire ghost had become as meek as a kitten. If one ignored its bruised, swollen, and grotesquely mangled face, Zhang Yang felt like it might just start meowing at any second.
[Where’s its dignity? Where’s the ferocity? Hahahaha!]
[I thought it was supposed to be terrifying. Is that it?!]
[A little embarrassing, hahaha, I’m dying. I really thought it was going to be powerful at first.]
[It’s not that the ghost is too weak, it’s that the Heavenly Venerate is too badass!]
Weak, pitiful, helpless, humbled...
’Is she going to squeeze me until I pop?!’
A chill ran down the Mirror Ghost’s spine. It suddenly noticed this strange person sizing it up, as if contemplating the best way to kill it.
Thinking of her merciless fists, its still-ringing head, and its nearly-crossed eyes, the Mirror Ghost felt a surge of pure terror. Its hair stood on end; it was scared out of its wits.
"I was wrong! I was wrong! I’ll never go after him again, I swear! Please, I’m begging you, let me go!"
The Mirror Ghost pleaded.
If the circumstances weren’t preventing it, it really would have dropped to its knees.
"What do you think?"
Su Nian looked at it with a gentle smile, appearing for all the world like a sweet, benevolent fairy. "Why don’t you just die one more time? It’ll save us both the trouble!"
"Waaah, beautiful lady! Milady! Your Highness! I beg you, spare me!"
The Mirror Ghost was out of options. Its only remaining move was to break down into a sobbing, sniveling mess.
Zhang Yang watched with a stunned expression. He felt like he’d walked onto the wrong movie set. This whole situation was just bizarre.
’How is this Mirror Ghost so weak? Could it be a knockoff?!’
"No need. Just die again."
Before the Mirror Ghost could react, Su Nian’s hand tightened on its neck. With just a slight squeeze, its neck snapped, and blood spurted from its throat.
In just three seconds, a head dropped to the floor.
Su Nian had twisted its neck off with clean efficiency, yet her expression remained that of a beautiful, gentle young lady with a sweet, faint smile.
Zhang Yang swallowed hard, nervously staring at the head on the floor. He felt dizzy.
’I heard from Grandpa that she was incredible, but crushing a ghost’s head with her bare hands? That can actually happen?’
The livestream chat exploded as well.
[Heavenly Venerate is so cool!!!]
[I think that’s terrifying! And so gross!]
[Like, I thought she was just kidding. I can’t believe she actually twisted its head off?]
But before the chat could comment further, the head on the floor began to dissipate.
Only the body remained. Su Nian, still perfectly composed, took out a piece of talisman paper and placed it over the spot where the neck met the body.
She muttered an incantation, and a moment later, the headless corpse also completely vanished into thin air.
"Alright, I’ve sent it on its way."
From the moment Su Nian started beating up the ghost, Zhang Yang had been in a daze, and he still hadn’t snapped out of it.
It took a long moment before he finally came to, as if waking from a long dream.
"Is it... dead?"
"No, I sent it off to be reincarnated. It harmed a lot of people, so it’ll probably be reborn in the animal realm."
"Okay, okay! Thank you, Master!"
The first thing Zhang Yang did after coming to his senses was to bow deeply in gratitude.
He also snuck a cautious glance at Su Nian’s arm. It looked slender and delicate, but it could actually twist a head clean off.
’What kind of woman is this? She’s basically a female warrior forged from a Vajra Pestle! I doubt even a Transformer could pull that off.’
’She crushed that ghost’s head without even blinking. Who could possibly handle that?!’
After bowing his thanks several more times, he fled as if his life depended on it. The shock had been too much for him to process.
「Just then, the next client walked in.」
A stylishly dressed young woman entered. But even more eye-catching than the woman herself was the enormous black bag slung over her shoulder.
She was in her early twenties, with fair skin and beautiful, shining eyes.
She greeted Su Nian politely. Her gentle tone and impeccable etiquette immediately put one at ease.
"Heavenly Venerate, I watch your livestreams all the time! I’m your biggest fan! I’ll believe anything you say!!!"
"Ahhh!! I finally get to meet you! Heavenly Venerate, can I take a picture with you? Or, could you give me your autograph?"
[A hardcore fan of the Heavenly Venerate has shown up at her door!]
[This young lady is kinda pretty.]
[She’s just okay. Not as good as my Qingyu, though.]
The girl remained flustered with excitement, her face flushed red.
"You’re so beautiful in person! Even prettier than on the stream! Ahhh, you’re so gorgeous!"
Su Nian had seen her fair share of the world. She was more than used to such looks of admiration and longing.
She nodded calmly and offered a small smile. "Thank you for the compliment. State your problem first, then you can just scan the code to pay."
The girl didn’t seem to mind at all, remaining giddy with excitement for another long moment before finally settling down.
"Heavenly Venerate, I’m such a big fan, and I want to spend a little more time with you. Um, do you read palms? Could you read mine?"
[Palm reading? Oh yeah, I think this is the first time someone’s asked for a palm reading!]
[It just occurred to me, the streamer has never shown off her palm-reading skills before. Could it be because she doesn’t know how?]
[The user above is so narrow-minded. All these arts are connected. The streamer is so good at face reading, how could she not know how to read palms!]
Su Nian was unaware of this heated debate. She raised her eyebrows, slightly surprised, but nodded with calm composure.
"Of course. Hold out your hand."
