Chapter 55: Sheep Entering the Tiger’s Mouth (2)

Chapter 55: Sheep Entering the Tiger’s Mouth (2)

Nangong Qianfeng had originally thought that she had been at a disadvantage because of the Soul-Severing Needle, which made it difficult for her to move, allowing this little thief to take advantage of her. She never thought that this little thief would have any chance of resisting if she made a move against him.

So when her knife-hand strike was easily avoided by him, she was startled.

Realizing that she had been discovered, Nangong Qianfeng tried to pull away, but it was too late.

Smack—

Her wrist was tightly grabbed by the bastard in front of her, and before she could react,

Pfft—

A hand, filled with internal energy, pressed firmly against her chest, delivering a very satisfying blow.

Though it wasn’t as strong as Yu Ye’s touch, the overwhelming sensation was enough that Ji Qinglin didn’t continue with his strikes. He quickly stopped, turning to check on her.

Nangong Qianfeng was caught off guard by the sudden turn of events. The two locked eyes, and for a moment, they both froze, neither of them moving.

"Qianfeng?"Ji Qinglin hadn’t expected to meet her here, but remembering his previous guess, she seemed to be from a big company.

Nangong Qianfeng’s face was filled with shame and fury. Her red eyes seemed like they could burn with fire as she slapped him. Ji Qinglin hurriedly withdrew his hand, which had been enjoying the warmth, and caught the slap, explaining:

"What are you doing? You attack me as soon as we meet? I haven’t done anything!"

With both of her hands restrained, Nangong Qianfeng struggled angrily:

"You’re still talking! Just now... just now!"

"It was clearly you who attacked first! I was just defending myself passively, and I didn’t even hurt you!"

Nangong Qianfeng wasn’t interested in discussing reasoning in this situation. Unable to break free, she kicked out with her foot.

Since Ji Qinglin couldn’t pull his arms apart, no matter how strong his internal energy was, he didn’t want to receive her kick in the face.

So he waited for the right moment, then pressed his body forward. When her kick missed, he blocked her foot with his shoulder, pinning her against the wall.

Nangong Qianfeng had intended to use her kick to force Ji Qinglin back, but unexpectedly, he closed the distance and pressed his body against hers. At this point, her body was completely under control, leaving no room for retaliation. She regretted not calling on the company’s Qi refiners for help when she was afraid her private matters might be exposed.

Ji Qinglin pulled her leg in closer, ensuring that he didn’t actually hurt this company leader.

"What do you want?"

Though her body was under control, Nangong Qianfeng still carried an air of strength in her pristine white suit. Her brows were furrowed, her red eyes full of murderous intent, as though daring him to make another move.

Ji Qinglin helplessly said:

"Here we go again. Last time you barged into my house, and now you attack me without warning. And then you have the nerve to ask me what I’m doing? Shouldn’t I be the one asking that question?"

Nangong Qianfeng snapped:

"I just want to take revenge for what you did last time."

"That’s so heartless! Last time, if it weren’t for me, would you have been able to escape the search? I didn’t ask for anything in return, and now you’re seeking revenge on me?"

Nangong Qianfeng struggled against his grip, threatening:

"Let me go, or I’ll call for help."

Ji Qinglin, on the other hand, acted as though he had nothing to fear:

"If you could call someone, you’d have done it already. If you really wanted help, you wouldn’t have brought me here alone."

"You! Don’t think you can get away with this!"

Hearing this, Ji Qinglin pressed his body closer and smiled:

"So, what exactly do you plan to do to me?"

Nangong Qianfeng, grinding her teeth in anger, said:

"You want to collaborate with Sihai Trading Group, right? I’ll make sure you fail!"

Ji Qinglin, hearing this, began to formulate a plan: the fact that only a small group of people knew about the Commerce Guild’s visit meant that she might indeed influence their attitude toward the guild.

Previously, he had guessed she might be a supervisor, but the later arrival of Uncle Mo seemed to indicate he was an assistant or housekeeper, a position much higher than that of an ordinary supervisor. Could she have connections to the company through the chairman’s family?

Realizing that this person could truly pose a threat to him, Ji Qinglin acted more nonchalantly:

"I don’t care. I’m just an employee. If you ruin this deal, I’ll just find another job."

This made Nangong Qianfeng pause. She hadn’t expected him to be so unconcerned about what she thought was a threat. After all, he was just an employee. She struggled again, trying to break free:

"Let go of me!"

Ji Qinglin smiled:

"You should know that I’m very reasonable, and I care about attitude."

Nangong Qianfeng clenched her teeth in frustration but ultimately said:

"I was wrong to seek revenge on you. The sneak attack was my fault. Now, please let me go."

Ji Qinglin didn’t want to offend her, especially with her potential influence, so as he let her go, he explained:

"I didn’t know it was you, so I didn’t hold back. Please don’t hold this against me."

Nangong Qianfeng rubbed her wrist, scoffing:

"You’re good at fighting. Last time, you were clearly taking advantage!"

"By heaven, that was just self-defense! Besides, if I really wanted to take advantage, would I have been so subtle about it? By the time Uncle Mo arrives, I probably would have..."

"Shut up!"

Nangong Qianfeng adjusted her clothes, her heart burning with indignation. She had planned to call him over to teach him a lesson for his previous misbehavior, but now, here he was, getting back at her in a new way.

"Alright, alright, I won’t say anything more. But now, can I ask about your work, Miss Qianfeng?"

Nangong Qianfeng shot him a glare and responded tersely:

"You guessed it right. I’m a supervisor here."

Ji Qinglin didn’t press further, politely saying:

"Oh, my apologies, then. We came here to ask Sihai Trading Group for help. I wonder if you could assist us?"

"Hmph, are we that familiar?"

"Come on, don’t act like we’re strangers. We’ve been through life-and-death situations together, haven’t we?"

Nangong Qianfeng finally started to calm down, reverting to her cheeky, playful attitude:

"Who’s been through life-and-death with you? I’ve never been to the Old District, and I’ve never met you there. This is our first time meeting. Now, I’m going back."

Ji Qinglin sighed:

"Miss Qianfeng, saying that really hurts."

Nangong Qianfeng knew she was in the wrong but didn’t want to show weakness. So, without looking back, she turned to leave. But after taking just two steps, she heard a familiar voice behind her.

"Isn’t your husband amazing?"

Nangong Qianfeng stopped in her tracks, her face full of disbelief as she turned around.

Ji Qinglin was pulling out his phone, showing a blurry video.

"You! You actually...!"

Before she could finish her sentence, the video played the exact moment she had screamed earlier.

Ji Qinglin promptly turned off the video and explained with righteous indignation:

"Originally, I was worried you might be a bad person and then try to pin the blame on me when you got caught, so I recorded this video before acting, just in case. I never intended to blackmail you. But since you’ve been so unreasonable today, Miss Qianfeng, I have to admit, it’s really disheartening."

"But, in the spirit of goodwill, I’ll ask you: Miss Qianfeng, I’m sure you don’t want this to get out, do you?"
