Chapter 66 - 57: Private Tutoring
Chapter 66 - 57: Private Tutoring
That night, none of the kids in the Soul Class slept very soundly.
Yang Chunxi’s eyes, with their strange gleam, had indeed opened the door to a new world for everyone.
Sun Xingyu was even suffering from some aftereffects, terrified that at any moment she might ’wake up’ again and find herself back in the stone classroom.
It couldn’t be helped. The Illusion Realm Yang Chunxi had created for them was simply too real...
Most of these students came from Soul Martial Artist families. Although they had only just awakened, they had been subtly influenced throughout their upbringing and had a basic understanding of the Soul Martial World.
At the very least, Sun Xingyu and Li Ziyi knew that using a Spiritual Soul Technique on one person was a relatively common feat. But to affect all nine of them at once, and even allow them to interact with each other within the illusion...
That was just terrifying!
To think such terrifying power was hidden behind Yang Chunxi’s radiant smile.
The night finally passed. At 6:50 in the morning, not a single student was late. They all filed obediently into the dining hall, and upon seeing Yang Chunxi already eating, they hurried inside.
The ten of them filled a large dining table, and Yang Chunxi asked the students for their decisions one by one.
To Rong Taotao’s surprise, every other student planned to leave!
Even Xu Taiping!?
As a creature from the Snow Realm, Xu Taiping should love the ice and snow. Since he wasn’t allowed inside Hundred Corps Pass, the closest place of human activity to the Wall was Songjiang Soul Martial University.
’But Xu Taiping was taking a summer break too? Where would he go? Did he have family on Earth?’
"My sister and I are going home to tell Grandpa the good news... CRUNCH, CRUNCH..." Shi Lan mumbled, her mouth full of a fried dough stick that crunched loudly.
She was making a fried dough stick sound like a bag of potato chips.
Sun Xingyu didn’t quite dare to look at Yang Chunxi, keeping her head down as she said, "Ziyi and I are going home too. We’ll be back for the start of the semester."
If Sun Xingyu couldn’t bring herself to look at Yang Chunxi, Xu Taiping and Jiao Tengda were even more avoidant.
After all, Yang Chunxi had transformed into a Snow Lion Tiger the previous night and nearly stomped the two of them to pieces, one under each foot...
The damage they had taken in the Illusion Realm carried over into reality.
Although Xu Taiping and Jiao Tengda’s physical bodies were unharmed, the mental trauma and the tearing pain in their chests had been horrifyingly real.
Lu Mang suddenly spoke up. "I’m going home, too."
Yang Chunxi glanced gently at Lu Mang. She understood what he meant by ’going home.’
In fact, of all the students, Lu Mang was the one who needed to go home the most. Though they were all boys and girls of fifteen or sixteen, Lu Mang didn’t have the same carefree life as the others. Now that he had successfully enrolled, this summer break was especially important for his family.
"Teacher Yang, I’m... going back too," Fan Lihua said softly, peeling an egg with her small, pale hands.
As if worried Yang Chunxi might scold her, Fan Lihua quickly added, "It’s more than a month. It’s the perfect amount of time to go back and find a place to practice with the Heart of the Ocean."
"Hey, can you take me with you?" Jiao Tengda suddenly piped up from the side, grinning sheepishly. "My home is in Sichuan and Shu, in the southwest inland region. I don’t have any training locations lined up yet. I was planning to contact various coastal cities after I got home.
If you already have a place arranged, could you take me along..."
"Mm, okay," Fan Lihua said, looking up at Jiao Tengda and nodding without hesitation. But the girl was probably too shy; the moment she realized her gaze met his, she hastily lowered her head.
"And you?" Yang Chunxi turned to look at Rong Taotao.
"Me?" Rong Taotao was busy holding up his Cloud Dog’s two large, cloud-shaped ears, worried they might fall into its soy milk.
The little creature was perched on its short legs, clinging to the edge of the porcelain bowl and craning its neck. Its little pink tongue lapped at the soy milk, its eyes squinted in bliss. It looked so happy it might just float away.
Rong Taotao turned to Yang Chunxi and said, "I’ll stick with you. Wherever you go, I’ll go. Is that okay?"
"Heh." Seeing Rong Taotao’s hesitant expression, Yang Chunxi couldn’t help but reach out and ruffle his naturally curly hair. "Alright, you can stick with me."
"Ness~" Rong Taotao muttered excitedly under his breath.
If Rong Taotao went back to his empty home in New Danxi, he would just be training hard all alone on the rooftop.
The only family he had that he could see and touch was Yang Chunxi.
And she was more of a future relative, since his older brother and she hadn’t gotten their marriage license yet.
So, the fact that Yang Chunxi agreed to let him stay with her made Rong Taotao truly happy.
"Oh, right. This is a gift from Xia for your Group 2." Yang Chunxi said, turning to grab a bag hanging from the back of her chair.
"A gift?" Sun Xingyu’s eyes lit up. The moment she heard the word "gift," she forgot all about her fear of Yang Chunxi and looked eagerly at the bag in her teacher’s hands.
But who would have thought that Yang Chunxi would pull a fur hat out of the bag.
’For real? A full-on pioneer hat!?’
"Wow!" Sun Xingyu hurriedly took it, under the envious gazes of the other students.
The fur hat was entirely snow-white, thick, and very soft.
Sun Xingyu couldn’t help but lift her face and rub her cheek against the fluffy fur hat.
Watching the girl’s joyful expression, Yang Chunxi seemed to be moved by it as well. A gentle smile appeared on her face as she said, "Your group hunted a Snowflake Wolf yesterday. After sending it to the soldiers to be processed, they sent back the Soul Pearl and the pelt.
