Chapter 916: Massacre (6)
Chapter 916: Massacre (6)
Chapter 916
Bale and the officials stared at Grey with wide eyes. Incapable of making a sound as they looked at the destruction he had just done in the whole hall.
The two officials who lost their hands, gripped their bleeding stumps with a pained grimace trying their possible best to not let blood seep through their fingers.
Grey calmly drank from the goblet which was now half empty. He had a carefree look on his face despite the carnage he had just caused.
Blood flowed through the hall like a stream. Bodies torn apart, burnt and stabbed lay scattered across the room like leaves.
The whole place was silent except for the heavy breaths of the high ranking officials in the room, Bale’s teeth grinding together and Grey’s occasional sip of his drink.
Finally, the silence had already stretched for far too long and Bale couldn’t take it anymore.
"How da—"
"— I have a question," Grey quickly cut the man off as he stared at the goblet in his hand.
He finally lifted his head up to stare at Bale for several seconds.
"Why did you kill lord Cedric?"
Of course Grey knew the truth.
What Bale didn’t know was that before the carnage outside the hall, the Supreme Magus had blinked into the room, made sure his aura was gone and blended into the shadows.
He listened to everything being said with anger flooding his body before he blinked back outside to cause a certain destruction then blinked back inside again.
So he knew everything and just wanted to give Bale a chance.
One chance to lie to him.
"Why did I kill Cedric?" Bale repeated the question as he scanned the kid from head to toe.
Then, he erupted into a crackling laughter as he proceeded to sit back on his throne with an unhinged expression on his face hidden behind the mask.
Grey looked unfazed.
"Why won’t I kill him? Tell me! It was because of him, this was done to me!" Bale squealed in anger as he yanked down his mask from his face revealing his partly burnt face.
It almost looked like something rotten but burnt... like a partly burnt toast bread.
His teeth were grinding back and forth repeatedly as he glared into Grey’s eyes with burning fury.
"He hired you! You came here and did this to me years ago! As if that was not enough, you lots imprisoned my darling Janet. For what exactly?! So yes. I had and needed to take revenge hence I murdered him." Bale replied as he shot daggers in Grey’s direction.
Grey thought for a few seconds as he stared into the goblet with a calm expression on his face.
"Was it painless?" He asked causing Bale to lift a brow.
"Huh? I don’t understand." Said Bale.
Sighing, Grey lifted the goblet and took another sip before looking at the townlord on the throne.
"Did you men make his death painless or not?"
Bale’s gaze narrowed as a certain sinister smirk flashed across his face.
"Painless? Of course not. Hahahaha. I made sure the five star earth mage buried his feet into the ground so he wouldn’t be able to escape. Then proceeded to bury him fully into the ground for several minutes so he would lose his breath.
Then he was impaled with countless earth spikes before a heavy impact from an earth club caved his head in. So in short; no! His death wasn’t painless in the least. It was incredibly painful as it should."
"...."
Janet looked in Bale’s direction with a frightful expression, her breath hitching at his words.
’What is he thinking? Th—this kid is incredibly dangerous, yet he is instigating him? He could finish us all in the blink of an eye. Not to mention...’ The woman’s eyes twinkled with a dark realization as she recalled the past.
The kid’s familiar.
One of the familiar kings.
He possessed power beyond their wildest imaginations.
Bale was a formidable five-star fire mage, but what could he truly do against a multi-elementalist who had calmly walked into his territory and rained down chaos single-handedly?
The figure before them was a walking disaster—a one-man army.
He had proved his strength only moments ago, so what did Bale hope to gain by persisting?
’... Or is he stalling for backup?’
"I see..." Grey let out a soft chuckle, cradling the goblet with a calm, unnerving look on his face.
"... Another question, if I may. That same mage who murdered Cedric—is he in this town?"
Bale’s grin widened as he locked eyes with Grey, appearing as if he were savoring every bit of the confrontation.
"Oh, why not? He is. In fact, I’m waiting for him to arrive so the both of us can take you down together. Sooner or later, you are bound to run out of mana and perish when we lay our hands on you!"
Grey nodded slowly, as if he were processing and understanding everything being said to him.
He took another long swig of his drink before snapping his fingers, causing an ashen portal to ripple open in the center of the room.
An object rolled out of the void, tumbling across the floor for several seconds before finally coming to a halt.
It was rounded, resembling a ball of some sort.
"Is that the mage?"
It wasn’t a ball; it was a head.
The moment Bale set his eyes on the object resting on the floor, his eyes widened in immediate recognition.
His hands slipped from the armrests of his throne, his composure shattering.
"Ho—how?"
Grey finally finished the last of his wine, wiping his lips clean and tossing the goblet aside.
A chilling, wide-eyed smile split his face as he stepped forward.
"And in case you are stalling for reinforcement, I just want to let you know that there will be none."
Grey lifted his hand, palm facing Bale.
Jagged bolts of lightning began arcing violently around his limb, and his eyes shifted to a deeper, predatory shade of red.
"And why is that? You may wonder. Well, I have finished off every single person in this town. Men, women, civilians, kids, and even your guards. They are all gone, Bale."
