Chapter 550: The Unexpected Arrival (Part 5)
Qin Wenrou was truly aggrieved!Tears welled up in her eyes as she softly said, "Can’t I just roast for a little while?"
The folks from Class 1 sneered: "You didn’t work earlier, and now you want to enjoy it. Do you think that’s fair?"
Qin Wenrou bit her lip, glancing around, hoping to find someone who would stand up for her.
But somehow, there seemed to be no one left under her command. Even Yu Xiaochun from Class 2 kept her distance, busy adding logs to their bonfire to earn a chance to warm up.
Although Xu Qinghua was beside her, his proud and conceited personality meant he wouldn’t help her either. Besides, he too was ostracized by the Class 1 crowd for not helping to collect wood.
With no one speaking up for her, Qin Wenrou had no choice but to defend herself: "My hands are for playing the piano. If I injure them collecting wood, it’ll be troublesome in the future..."
The crowd got even angrier: "What, are your hands the only precious ones? Are you a princess and we’re the servants? Are we doomed to do the hard labor? Who are you trying to disgust with this?"
Qin Wenrou was at a loss for words, unable to even maintain her aggrieved expression.
Xu Qinghua, standing beside her, sneered: "Why beg those fools? Sitting by the fire here is just waiting to die. Only those fools would trust the ugly one’s judgment."
Seeing Xu Qinghua’s confident demeanor, Qin Wenrou quickly asked, "Qinghua, have you found another way?"
Xu Qinghua nodded confidently: "I’ve already observed the surroundings. Climbing out through the ruins of the school gate is the best route."
Qin Wenrou looked towards the night, at the collapsed school gate and the two fallen buildings beside it.
The debris and ruins resembled a small mountain.
Getting through would indeed be tough, but if they managed to climb over... it didn’t seem entirely impossible.
It would certainly beat freezing to death here.
"Alright, if you go, I’ll go with you. I trust your judgment more!" Qin Wenrou decided, showering Xu Qinghua with some flattery.
Xu Qinghua took the lead and strode towards the school gate.
Gou Dachun called out from behind: "Hey, hey, don’t be foolish, the place Lan Qingxin mentioned will continue to collapse. Why take such risks? It’s still not too late to go gather some pine branches from the grove. If you show some effort, everyone will still let you warm by the fire..."
Though they disliked Qin Wenrou and Xu Qinghua.
Gou Dachun’s words did make sense.
Making amends now would at least show sincerity.
Yet, Xu Qinghua sneered: "Who cares for your charity? This little bonfire will burn out in half an hour, and then what? Freeze alongside you? If you don’t want to live, don’t stop me from finding a way out."
Qin Wenrou pursed her lips and said, "I trust Qinghua’s judgment."
As she spoke, she gave Qin Xin a pointed look: "After all, some people’s intelligence is quite unstable. She scored 100, then 59, and even zero. Who knows if she’s predicting with her zero-grade intelligence this time?"
The people from Class 1 glared at her: "If you want to leave, then just leave. Stop talking in circles. Do you believe we won’t tear your mouth apart?"
Qin Wenrou flinched and quickly followed Xu Qinghua.
Among the crowd, there were other students from different classes, who began to ponder.
Since they weren’t familiar with Qin Xin, Xu Qinghua and Qin Wenrou’s words made them worried too.
What if Qin Xin made the wrong judgment?
What if they stayed and there was another earthquake?
Maybe escaping was the best option...
Soon, a small group of people also headed towards the ruins of the school gate.
Yet, the people from Class 1, much like those from Class 2, remained unwavering, with not a single person following Qin Wenrou and Xu Qinghua.
