Chapter 1075 - 1084: Does This Count as a Kiss?
Chapter 1075: Chapter 1084: Does This Count as a Kiss? "Have you thought it through?" Shi Aoju asked faintly.
"Nothing much to think about." Qi Jingren smiled, "You all know, I ultimately have to go back."
Shi Aoju didn’t speak, nor did he try to persuade her to stay. Song Zhike only asked her once, "Are you really leaving?" and said nothing further.
Qin Shaobai leaned against the car, pulled out a cigarette from the pack and lit it, taking a deep drag. Smoke rings floated out of his mouth, swirling in the air with a touch of loneliness.
Qi Jingren walked over, took the cigarette that had burned more than halfway from his fingers, put it in her mouth, took a puff, then placed the cigarette back into his hand.
"I guess this counts as a kiss between us." She smiled and spoke, smoke slowly spilling from the corners of her mouth.
Qin Shaobai held the cigarette in his mouth, reluctant to take another puff, for fear that the smoke would burn out and her scent would dissipate.
He just looked at her, his eyes once again filled with tenderness. He raised his hand to tidy her hair one last time, and deeply closed his eyes.
He etched her image, her smile, her emotions, all of her expressions, entirely in his mind and heart.
Qi Jingren turned away, walking in the opposite direction, and when she was about ten meters away, she waved her hand to the three of them with her back to them, leaving so freely.
As her figure disappeared from Qin Shaobai’s sight, the cigarette burned out, tiny sparks scorching his lips, but he felt no pain. At this moment, aside from her, everything else seemed unrelated.
Shi Aoju and Song Zhike exchanged a glance, understanding each other with just their eyes, walked up to Qin Shaobai and patted his shoulder, offering him brotherly comfort.
Qi Jingren got into a black stretch Lincoln, turned her head to glance in a certain direction, her eyes unknowingly moistening. As the people and things outside the car window slowly receded, tears fell from the corners of her eyes.
Sometimes reality is just this cruel; it won’t leave you without options, but it will leave you with no path to choose.
Qi Jingren huddled in the back seat, hugging her knees like a newborn baby, protecting herself.
Late night, eleven o’clock.
President’s Mansion hall, over ten guards dressed in black stood in two rows in a line, while on the main seat sat a man around fifty.
The man was tall, with neatly trimmed short hair. Though he was in his middle years, there wasn’t a hint of gray in his hair. He looked well-maintained, and just from his appearance, one couldn’t tell his true age.
Qi Jingren, surrounded by a group of bodyguards, walked into the hall, saw the man sitting on the main seat, slightly bowed her head, and softly called, "Father."
"Finally willing to come back."
Mo Jin toyed with the Jade Ring on his thumb; though he had a smile, his demeanor seemed very strict. His words made the guards beside him not dare to breathe too loudly.
Qi Jingren didn’t answer his words but said, "I’m tired, I want to go to my room to rest."
Facing his daughter, Mo Jin could never harden his heart. Remembering the reason his daughter ran away a few months back, he felt a bit guilty, so he stood up from the main seat.
Mo Jin walked briskly to Qi Jingren, grasping her shoulders with his hands, he softly said, "Raise your head, let your father see if you have gotten thinner or darker."
