Love You for the Rest of My Life

Chapter 940: Can We Be Serious?

Chapter 940: Can We Be Serious?

Di Mingjue couldn’t help but hold his forehead with one hand and laughed, "Can’t you be serious for a moment, you silly gourd?"

Gu Qibao also burst into laughter. She loved these days of teasing and fun with Di Mingjue—the two of them holed up at home, doing nothing, and they could be silly all day.

"Are you hungry?" Di Mingjue asked softly.

"Not really." Gu Qibao shook her head.

Di Mingjue furrowed his brows—it was almost eight o’clock and she still wasn’t hungry!

"That won’t do," Di Mingjue said anxiously, "How can the baby develop well without eating? Come on, let’s eat something. I’ll keep you company."

"Okay then." Gu Qibao hopped up. She knew she had to eat, especially since she was carrying a baby.

When they went downstairs to eat, Gu Qibao couldn’t have anticipated that the mere sight of greasy food would make her frown and feel like retching.

Di Mingjue’s frown deepened into a ’Chuan’ character shape, and only after a lot of coaxing did she manage to eat two slices of meat.

Just two slices!

You should know, Gu Qibao used to be able to single-handedly devour a plate of chicken legs. Now, the sight of chicken legs provoked nothing but distaste.

Di Mingjue felt his heart nearly break.

Despite his heartache, there was nothing he could do; the pregnancy coach and doctor had said this was a normal pregnancy reaction.

Gu Qibao began showing symptoms of morning sickness extremely early. While others started around a month in, she was not even a month pregnant when the symptoms hit—and hit hard.

Yet, the doctor quietly shared some folk rumors with Di Mingjue.

The rumor had it that pregnant women who have strong reactions to greasy food early in pregnancy are 99% likely to be carrying boys.

Di Mingjue couldn’t care less whether it was a boy or not; he was just concerned about how tough it was for his wife, who had transformed from a food-lover into someone who grimaced at the sight of grease.

Fortunately, Gu Qibao wasn’t repulsed by fruits, but today, because she had two slices of meat, she ended up vomiting. Vomiting!

That scared Di Mingjue to bits, so he stayed by her side while she vomited and called the doctor at the same time.

Seeing her severe reaction, the doctor prescribed her some vitamin C and reminded her that she needed to eat even if she was vomiting. If meat was off the menu, she should try something else such as rice, vegetables, fruits, eggs, and milk.

It was essential to ensure the pregnant woman received the basic protein nutrition she needed.

Due to her strong aversion to greasy food, the vegetables and eggs were only boiled in water, which pained Di Mingjue to watch.

But the good thing was, she seemed quite pleased eating them.

The doctor also reassured Di Mingjue in time, saying that this was a normal reaction and around the three-month mark, Gu Qibao would probably stop being averse to greasy food.

Di Mingjue thought pregnancy was such a tragic and tough ordeal. Was she supposed to eat only fruits, plain vegetables, and eggs for a full three months?

Just thinking about it made him feel sad, let alone considering the baby’s need for nutrition. He was truly worried about potential malnourishment.

So, he immediately made a phone call instructing that a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables be supplied daily; they had to be sourced from all over the world and varied to research their nutritional value and harmlessness to pregnant women.

High-quality nourishments like supreme bird’s nest were also essential and could not be missed.

As she wasn’t eating much meat during the first three months, ensuring sufficient nutrition was critical; otherwise, it would be troublesome if the child were born with a deficiency.

For parents, it’s a pain at heart.

So Di Mingjue was incredibly careful and caring in every possible way.

There were also certain taboos during pregnancy, and even folk and old-wives’ remedies were not overlooked by Di Mingjue.

He was preparing as if facing a formidable enemy!
