Chapter 859: Why So Early
Chapter 859: Why So Early
The father and daughter did not instantly recognize each other through some telepathic connection; it was after some conversations that the young lady learned of the Prince’s purpose for coming.
After some exchanges, the mystery of her life story began to unravel.
The Prince was furious, and on the spot, he had the married couple brought down from the mountain and banished the merchant family to the border.
The Prince wanted to take his daughter with him but didn’t think the young man was worthy of his noble daughter and attempted to separate them.
The young lady swore she would not comply and recounted how the young man had saved her years ago.
Only then did the Prince realize that the young man was a righteous and faithful good man.
So he accepted them both and personally petitioned the Emperor to name the mountain the Cliff of Love.
Later, the young couple’s love story spread among the people, with the young man being deeply devoted, constant and unfailing, sharing hardships with the one he loved.
It was rumored among the populace that couples and spouses who withstand tests should definitely visit the Cliff of Love, where a man personally carries his woman up the mountain, ensuring a smooth-sailing, sweet and long-lasting love.
Of course, this was just a folk legend, because the Cliff of Love is really high and has many steep slopes. Even now, with improved roads, carrying someone up the mountain is still very arduous.
This legend is actually quite melodramatic, but if real, it would be very beautiful.
If one really were to carry another up the mountain, they’d likely end up dead or at least half crippled, because it takes nearly a half-hour to drive from the foot to the summit!
If one were walking, it would probably take about an hour.
If carrying another person, it would likely take two and a half hours.
And with many slopes, all on a mountain, one can imagine just how tiring that would be.
But a promise without a test is not truly a promise, isn’t it?
Lost in thought, Di Mingzhe got out of the car. Di Xiaxia had no afternoon classes today and had gone home to rest after lunch.
Di Mingzhe returned home to find her drinking water in the kitchen.
And Di Mingzhe had dismissed the servants and butler early in the morning.
When he stepped into the house, Di Xiaxia was truly sipping water from her cup while on the phone.
It was not clear whom she was speaking with, but she was laughing heartily.
Di Mingzhe lifted the corners of his mouth in a smile and quietly walked in.
Just as Di Xiaxia hung up the phone, he stretched out his hand and embraced her tightly from behind.
Di Xiaxia was visibly startled, but once she realized it was him, she calmed down.
"You’re home early today?" Di Xiaxia turned around, met his British-like eyes and brows, and couldn’t help but smile as she inquired.
"I missed you," Di Mingzhe said, looking at Di Xiaxia with a hint of a smile curling at his lips as he wrapped his arms around her tightly.
Di Xiaxia paused, then let out a laugh. Although Di Mingzhe often worked late into the night, he would still come home, and they hadn’t been apart for long.
Trying to hide her shyness, Di Xiaxia said, "We haven’t been apart for that long."
"But I’ve missed you all the same," Di Mingzhe released her, gazing at her earnestly, and spoke softly.
Di Xiaxia’s face turned a shade redder, and her rosy lips couldn’t help but gently curve upwards.
Being with Di Mingzhe meant being teased at any moment!
Right or not?
This guy was simply a walking flirtation machine, throwing out flirtatious words with effortless ease!
"Did you miss your big brother?" Di Mingzhe teased, lifting the long hair beside Di Xiaxia’s ear, helping her to drape it over her shoulder, and asking quite frankly.
"I did," Di Xiaxia nodded honestly.
"How much did you miss me?" Di Mingzhe whispered, and suddenly lifted her into his arms and set her down on the kitchen counter.
