Chapter 683 - 684: Eating with Good Reason
Fang Hao’s statement was indeed true; if one encounters a good man, age doesn’t really matter at all.
"Exactly, exactly." Fang Hao’s face lit up with joy, but he quickly made a teasing remark, "But, I get the feeling Xuanxuan is a bit naive."
"Wait, what?" Di Xiaxia widened her eyes, "What do you mean?"
Fang Hao just chuckled and scratched his head, mysteriously responded, "I think Xuanxuan is a bit inept when it comes to love, she seems rather slow in understanding such matters."
"Really? I don’t think so." Di Xiaxia disagreed, "I thought she was quite smart; she noticed long ago that our elder brother liked me. She’s not slow at all."
"Well, people tend to see others’ feelings clearly, but struggle to see their own," Fang Hao countered, "Still, she’s young. I don’t mind waiting a few more years for her to mature and have more life experiences."
"Pfft..." Di Xiaxia couldn’t help but laugh, "Mom, you are overflowing with complaints about her."
"I’m not." Fang Hao spoke candidly, "Di Jinxuan’s monthly expenses are quite high. If she gets a boyfriend, he would naturally pay for her expenses. That means I could save some money, heh."
Fang Hao’s words had Di Xiaxia laughing continuously. It seemed she was complaining about the money Di Jinxuan spent, but her deepest wish was for her daughter to find a man who could adore and care for her.
Fang Hao also laughed, pulling Di Xiaxia into a hearty chuckle that seemed increasingly contagious as they shared the moment.
Her daughter, who had always stayed by her side, was becoming her daughter-in-law, a situation she found utterly wonderful.
"Oh, by the way, where’s Xuanxuan?" Di Xiaxia asked suddenly, "Hasn’t she returned yet?"
"She has." Fang Hao nodded, "She came back earlier than you. Your third brother and his wife sent her home."
Commenting on this, Fang Hao appeared somewhat puzzled, "But I found it strange; she immediately locked herself in her room once she got back and didn’t come out. She didn’t share any tidbits from her day at the office either. I was about to go check on her."
"Really?" Di Xiaxia raised her eyebrows and her interest instantly piqued, "Should I go and check on her?"
"Sure, go ahead." Fang Hao responded with a wave of her hand.
"Alright." Di Xiaxia stood up and headed upstairs.
Upon reaching Di Jinxuan’s room, Di Xiaxia knocked but received no response.
Di Xiaxia frowned skeptically and tried the door to find it unlocked. She peeked in to see Di Jinxuan sitting on her bed, buried in her cell phone.
The TV ran in the background, but she wasn’t watching it. The bed was a complete mess, snacks strewn all over.
Di Xiaxia smoothly walked over, kicked off her shoes, and plopped down next to Di Jinxuan, "What’s up, Xuanxuan?"
Di Jinxuan surprisingly didn’t hear Di Xiaxia come in; startled, she clutched at her chest, "Xiaxia, you scared the life out of me!"
"You were spacing out." Di Xiaxia rolled her eyes and glanced keenly at her cell phone, "What are you doing?"
"Nothing much." Di Jinxuan set her phone aside, glancing sidelong at her, "You didn’t head back to the Presidential Residence to spend time with my big brother instead of coming home to mooch off our food?"
Di Xiaxia blinked, "Wow, Di Jinxuan, that’s a little harsh, isn’t it? What do you mean by ’mooching’"?
Di Jinxuan held up her hands, "You’re married now. It’s your husband’s responsibility to feed and house you. If you come here, you’re basically free-loading."
"Pft..." Di Xiaxia burst into laughter, "Are you tired of me, Di Jinxuan? I’m returning to my in-law’s house, not ’mooching’ food."
She was entitled to it, right!
