Love You for the Rest of My Life

Chapter 609 - 610: Protection from the Apprentice

Chapter 609 - 610: Protection from the Apprentice

Immediately after, an invitation for a team-up was thrown her way, which Di Xiaxia quickly accepted.

Only after joining did she realize, damn, this wasn’t Nangong Jin!

Looking again, isn’t this her weak-chicken apprentice?

Looking again, holy crap! Something’s not right here...how did her apprentice suddenly reach a level higher than her?

Is this some kind of powered-up mode or something?

Could he have been grinding levels for 24 hours straight?!?

Before Di Xiaxia had the chance to speak, her apprentice asked, "Who is Mr. Z?"

Di Xiaxia rolled her eyes, resisting the urge to retort, "Are we close?"

"He’s a complete jerk," she quickly typed. "Can’t you see the whole world swarming him?"

"Who is he to you?" The apprentice asked again.

Who he is to me is none of your business, Di Xiaxia thought, punching in, "Private question. Refused to answer. Just keep slaying your monsters, good little apprentice!"

The apprentice said nothing more.

A message from Nangong Jin came just then, "Darling Xiaxia, where did you run off to? Aren’t we teaming up?"

"Wait a minute, I’m pulling you in now." Di Xiaxia replied to Nangong Jin.

She turned back to her apprentice, "Make me the team leader."

Her apprentice was no slouch, quickly passing her the team leader role.

Di Xiaxia pulled Nangong Jin into the team.

As soon as he was in the team, Nangong Jin cheerfully called out, "Dear little Xiaxia, where should we head to slay monsters?"

"Let’s hit up Lake of Five Colors." Di Xiaxia threw out these words and led the team flying there.

Only then did Nangong Jin notice another team member and was immediately floored by the username.

Unable to resist asking, Nangong Jin inquired, "Who’s this ’Emperor of the Netherworld’?"

"My apprentice."

"Her apprentice."

The lines of responses floated up simultaneously.

Nangong Jin blinked, "Such a grand and classy name!"

Di Xiaxia said nothing, only typing after a while, "Jin brother, you lead the team. We’re going to slay the Pale-faced Gentleman. You two just observe, while I do the chopping."

"No problem." Nangong Jin took over as leader from Di Xiaxia and led the team away.

The Pale-faced Gentleman was a mid-level boss at Lake of Five Colors, handsome and refined with jade-like skin, but undeniably a prime jerk in game lore.

That being said, he did find his way back from the wrong path eventually.

But she was having none of that. She was there to lay into this ’jerk’!

Leading the team, Di Xiaxia quickly located the Pale-faced Gentleman and immediately engaged him in combat.

With her high level, good gear, and, most importantly, a top-grade weapon with a Bloodthirst skill that returned half the HP damage to her, Di Xiaxia felt no pressure fighting the Gentleman.

Moreover, this Gentleman had no skills and only dealt physical damage.

Di Xiaxia just set the system to auto-battle, took it slow and enjoyed watching the fight, nevermind the boredom.

Players had the advantage of striking first after entering combat. Because of her top-grade boots, Di Xiaxia moved quickly and struck first.

Nangong Jin naturally selected auto-defend, not intending to lift a finger.

Di Xiaxia made her move, quickly landing a blow on the Pale-faced Gentleman.

Weary and frustrated, the Gentleman roared, "Die, foolish human!"

As he lunged at her, Di Xiaxia was unbothered. Her HP can withstand three hits from him, and each of her strikes dealt significant damage in return, enabling her to recover a generous amount of HP.

But bizarrely, as the Gentleman lunged at Di Xiaxia, her apprentice suddenly darted up and held her, taking the brunt of the hit at his back. He groaned in a surprisingly badass manner, then lost a third of his health in a flash.
