Chapter 500 - 501: The Drink is Horrible!
A look of panic seemed to cross his face as he asked, "What’s the matter?"
"Doesn’t this bed come with a remote?" Di Xiaxia asked, sounding somewhat exasperated.
It was only then that he remembered. The hospital bed did indeed have a remote, to help the patient sit up more easily.
It seemed that her injury had thrown him off his usual game, causing his usually sharp mind to slow.
A hint of embarrassment passed over Di Mingzhe’s handsome face, followed by a slight pinkish blush that crept up to his ears.
He looked into her beautiful black eyes, trying to explain, but seemed at a loss for words in her presence.
His scarlet lips lightly puckered as it occurred to him; perhaps she disliked the amount of physical contact between them?
This realization struck him like a blow, causing his hand to slip out from under her. Di Mingzhe turned his back to her, and handed her a cup of water from the side table. "Drink," he said.
In truth, he was overthinking things. Di Xiaxia was the type of person whose thoughts raced, always moving on to the next idea.
Being an energetic soul, her mind was as active as her body. Her reactions were quick; many times, her words came out before her brain had a chance to fully process the thought.
How could she ever compare to the steady, unwavering Di Mingzhe, who carefully considered each word before letting it slip from his lips?
So in reality, all that Di Xiaxia was concerned about was whether the bed had a remote or not, and her remark had nothing to do with him!
Di Mingzhe apparently misunderstood.
An unrequited crush can be incredibly delicate. Even the simplest of words can send that person’s feelings soaring high, or plunging into despair.
Right now, Di Xiaxia was oblivious to it all. She hadn’t thought of it in that way at all; she merely sipped her water, seemingly unbothered.
Her mouth was dry, her hand painful; damn, why did she have to be so unlucky?!
It was all Di Mingzhe’s fault! It was his fault that she was in this predicament. At this thought, Di Xiaxia gave Di Mingzhe a reproachful look.
She had beautiful eyes, enchanting and electrifying. Now, with her lips covered by the water cup, her straight, delicate nose and mesmerising eyes were on full display.
Such a sight, from such an angle... it wasn’t a sight just any man could resist – or any woman, for that matter.
After all, Di Xiaxia was the type of woman whose beauty was bewitching and dazzling.
When she walked in a crowd, her smiles and frowns were enough to catch everyone’s attention.
So when she looked at Di Mingzhe with those eyes, and given the depth of his feelings for her...
The various complex emotions running through him were intense!
Especially now, with her gaze so enchantingly inviting, coupled with a hint of pitiful resentment, like that of a coyly petulant maiden.
Di Mingzhe’s deep eyes grew slightly darker. His voice carried a hint of hoarseness as he asked, "What’s the matter?"
What?! Is that the only question you ever ask?!
At that moment, Di Xiaxia didn’t even understand her own feelings; all she knew was that everything about Di Mingzhe was rubbing her the wrong way!
Shit!
He may have a handsome face, but right now all she wanted to do was give him a good beating!
Feeling restless, Di Xiaxia clicked her tongue and put the water cup down. She handed the cup to him impatiently. "It’s tasteless." she complained, "Disgustingly bland!"
Di Mingzhe took the cup from her. "What do you want to drink then?" he asked.
"Coke," Di Xiaxia replied.
"No coke," Di Mingzhe refused without a second’s hesitation, his tone returning to its usual firmness.
