Chapter 389 - 390: You Must Really Help Him
After Di Mingjue finished speaking, he took Gu Qibao’s hand and led the way to the receiving room.
Er Gouzi followed anxiously and astonishment behind the couple, looking around the room and walking very carefully.
He had never seen the things here before, but they undoubtedly looked high-end and luxurious.
It was merely a front hall, but it was grand, with large, imposing pieces of furniture.
It wasn’t until he saw Di Mingjue and Gu Qibao sitting on the sofa that he knew it was meant for seating. He did not know what it was called, only that it was huge and luxurious, beyond his vocabulary’s scope to describe.
He had only heard others talk about it—now that he was actually seeing it, he did not dare to sit on it.
He just stood there, apprehensive and uneasy.
Gu Qibao, puzzled, lifted her eyelashes and said with a smile, "Er Gouzi, don’t be so formal. Sit down."
Er Gouzi nodded awkwardly and gingerly sat down. The moment he sat down, the sofa sank slightly, startling him into standing upright again. He did not dare to sit back down.
Gu Qibao pouted, rose from her seat, walked to his side and comforted him with a smile, "It’s fine. Don’t be afraid. This thing is made for sitting."
Having said that, she plopped herself down and patted the seat, "Er Gou, hurry and sit next to me!"
She looked up at him with a sunny smile. Her exquisite little face was very cute. Er Gouzi was stunned for a moment.
But he quickly realized that he shouldn’t be looking. Even if it was just for the dignified man’s attitude toward him, he shouldn’t be looking too much at this girl named Gu Qibao.
Er Gouzi quickly lowered his eyes, looking at the luxurious sofa. He was afraid of ruining it and also felt that he was too dirty to sit on it, so he shook his head, refusing to do so.
Fortunately, Di Mingjue intervened, instructing Uncle Zhang, "Bring a chair for Er Gou."
Uncle Zhang caught the drift, signaled a servant to bring over a hard wooden chair.
"Sit," signaled Di Mingjue, allowing Er Gouzi to gingerly sit down.
"Baby, come here," Di Mingjue reached out his hand towards Gu Qibao.
Gu Qibao got up happily and sat next to him. Di Mingjue stretched out a hand and pulled her into his embrace.
Seeing Er Gouzi’s anxious and nervous look, Gu Qibao felt upset. She thought that Er Gou was pitiable and said to Di Mingjue, "Husband, you don’t know. Er Gou is really unfortunate. Those thieves of parents treat him very badly. Oh right, Er Gou is an adopted child. He isn’t their biological one! You have to help him."
"Okay," Di Mingjue nodded, stroked her hair and said softly, filled with affection," I got it, darling."
Then, Di Mingjue looked at Er Gouzi and said, with a light but powerful voice, "You don’t have to go back to that place ever again. You saved Gu Qibao; you’re a benefactor of both the Di and Gu Families. You can ask for anything."
Upon hearing this, Er Gouzi froze completely. A benefactor, who could ask for anything?
These words felt to him like unexpected pies falling from the sky. He was surprised, astonished, but most of all, couldn’t believe it.
It took him a long while to snap back to reality, before he quickly shook his head and hands. He had never thought about receiving any rewards.
Di Mingjue noted his refusal, raised his lips slightly and asked softly, "Did you attend school?"
Er Gouzi continued to shake his head vigorously.
Di Mingjue’s rigid eyebrows wrinkled slightly. This boy hadn’t gone to school, surprisedly didn’t know how to write, and certainly wouldn’t know sign language either. Communicating with him would be quite challenging.
