Chapter 1107: Do You Have Something to Tell Me?
Chapter 1107: Do You Have Something to Tell Me?
"Yes," the butler nodded respectfully before retreating.
Di Mingzhe hurried up the stairs two at a time, his heart still unable to conceal its excitement.
Yet, he felt a bit worried, after all, this was only a guess from Di Mingjue and Gu Qibao.
Lost in thoughts and concerns, Di Mingzhe had reached the doorway. He pushed open the door, glanced sideways, and saw Di Xiaxia sitting on the bed, daydreaming.
Di Mingzhe walked over, gently sat on the edge of the bed, and looked at her, "Xiaxia."
Di Xiaxia started, and suddenly looked up, "Big brother."
"Come here," he crooked his finger at her.
Di Xiaxia obediently scooted over, and Di Mingzhe enveloped her in his embrace, pondering how to broach the question.
Di Xiaxia spoke first, "Are you done with your work?"
"Almost," he kissed her and his deep gaze focused on her face. He tenderly tousled her hair, "Xiaxia, do you remember what big brother told you?"
"Told me what?" Di Xiaxia blinked.
"I’ve said that no matter what happens, you have to tell me. Share with me, and I will help you carry the burden," Di Mingzhe said, looking intently into her eyes.
Di Xiaxia averted her eyes guiltily.
"So, is there something you want to tell me now?" Di Mingzhe asked again.
"No, not at all," Di Xiaxia reflexively denied, "I don’t have anything to tell you. Who told you I had something to say?"
Di Mingzhe couldn’t help but want to laugh—Di Xiaxia was like this, hardly adept at lying, with her words full of holes.
In the face of him, a person skilled in words, her defenses were easily breached.
Although he felt like laughing, his face darkened slightly as he spoke bluntly, "Di Xiaxia, such a big matter, how could you think of hiding it from me?"
Immediately, Di Xiaxia became flustered and guiltily lowered her gaze, "Not really, I just... didn’t know what to do."
At this, Di Mingzhe suddenly swelled with elation, placing his hand joyously on her abdomen, "Is it true? Are you really pregnant?"
"Mhm," Di Xiaxia nodded, a flush of shyness on her face.
Di Mingzhe was deeply moved—it hadn’t been easy. And all his hard work, cough, getting sidetracked here, had paid off.
"This is good news; why hide it from your husband?" He straightened out her face to look into her eyes.
"If I told you, you definitely would not let me join the competition," Di Xiaxia said candidly.
Before Di Mingzhe could reply, Di Xiaxia continued, "I know, but I really have been preparing for a long time, and I have been looking forward to it. I want to participate, I want to win the championship, I want to prove myself."
She looked at Di Mingzhe with a pitiful gaze, "So I..."
"So you planned to hide it from me and not tell me, and then announce it after participating tomorrow, right?" Di Mingzhe asked.
"I actually hadn’t decided yet," Di Xiaxia pouted.
Indeed, she hadn’t decided, and the thought of any mishap worried her too.
Hearing her say that, Di Mingzhe brightened slightly—it seemed she wasn’t indifferent to the child. Aside from the child, she was still herself.
A mother should sacrifice for her child, should set aside things for her child, but where possible, it shouldn’t have to be everything.
Di Mingzhe lifted her onto the bed and sat down beside her, pulling her into his arms.
"But you should know you can’t participate," Di Mingzhe said. Even though it pained him to see her give up the competition, he was more afraid of her having an accident.
