Chapter 1098: In the Blink of an Eye, He Was Extremely Tender to His Wife

"Was it his idea to call me over?" Shen Yilan struggled to get up, picking up her clothes that could barely cover her body.

Arthur blew a ring of smoke and nodded slowly, unable to help but laugh sardonically, "Who else did you think it was?"

A destructive hatred erupted in Shen Yilan’s eyes, but to follow Arthur would mean living another day in that inhuman, ghostly existence. She didn’t want that, absolutely not.

"I’m not going with you," Shen Yilan straightened her clothes, "This is my hometown. I want to stay here. I’ve been with you so long; it’s you who have grown tired of me. Your coming here was just to do his dirty work, to vent his anger. Once it’s let out and dissipated, you should leave, shouldn’t you?"

"What’s the matter?" Arthur asked with a smoke-tainted smile, "Still want to compete with him?"

Shen Yilan took a deep breath. Want to? How could she not? But it was a pity she could not win; she wouldn’t overestimate herself like that.

At least staying here, she still had a chance at life. Even if she didn’t enter the Rubik’s Cube competitions, she could still make something of herself.

Looking at Shen Yilan, Arthur laughed with mocking irony, "You’re really too naive. It was you who started by framing others, destroying their lives. It’s not surprising they’d come after you. Blame only your less fortunate fate. Whether you go with me or not, think it through. Staying here might be even worse than going with me."

"I’m not leaving," Shen Yilan insisted.

Arthur raised an eyebrow, "Suit yourself."

With that, Arthur left, not deigning to glance at her again.

Shen Yilan stayed in the private room for a long time before she could compose herself. Her clothes were torn; she used her hair to cover her face, barely wrapping her clothes tightly before she left. Once outside, she kept her head down, hailed a taxi, and left.

When she got home, she took a long bath, as if waking up from a nightmare, shivering uncontrollably.

No matter what, she couldn’t have anticipated this outcome. Di Mingjue, how could he treat her like this?

By the time Di Mingjue got home, dinner time had long passed. Gu Qibao was sitting obediently on the couch waiting for him, cradling a robotic cat and seriously reading a parenting book.

Di Mingjue walked up to her and kissed her on the face.

"Honey," Gu Qibao raised her eyebrows and threw herself into his arms with a heartless laughter, "Have you eaten yet?"

"I have," Di Mingjue nodded, gently touching her belly, "What about you?"

"I have too," Gu Qibao nodded, "I ate so much today I was almost bursting. See if you don’t believe me."

Di Mingjue laughed and touched her belly again, "Yes, it does feel like a little piggy."

"You’re the little piggy," Gu Qibao made a funny face and curiously asked, "Where did you go this afternoon? Wasn’t it a half-day off?"

Di Mingjue pulled her into his arms and said bluntly, "I went to deal with Shen Yilan."

Upon hearing this, Gu Qibao’s eyes widened, "Deal with her? How did you do it? Did you hit her?"

"No," Di Mingjue shook his head, hitting her would be like dirtying his hands.

"It’s better you don’t know about this," Di Mingjue stroked her hair, "It’s yellow and violent, you don’t want to find out."

Gu Qibao blinked, "Come on, you didn’t get someone to violate her, did you?"

Di Mingjue couldn’t help but laugh, "No, I just brought her ex-boyfriend over and let them catch up, that’s all."

Gu Qibao frowned, "Then her ex must be a bad guy."

"How do you know?" Di Mingjue arched an eyebrow.

"Of course," Gu Qibao giggled, "Seeing the cunning look on your face, I knew her ex wasn’t a decent man."
