Nicole smiled slightly, feeling much more at ease after the phone call, but just as she was about to hang up, there came a loud bang over the phone.Nicole’s heart tightened, and her hand holding the phone inexplicably trembled. She nervously asked, "Wade, what’s happening over there?!"
In response to Nicole, there was chaotic footsteps on the other end, followed by several more bangs. Nicole heard Wade’s weak voice through the phone, and everything seemed unusual.
"Wade! What’s wrong?! Speak to me! What’s happening?!"
Nicole jumped up, frantically and fearfully questioning Wade.
There was a pause on Wade’s end before a weak voice came through: "Nicole... take good care of yourself... return home, back to the Seys Family... I might not be able to take care of you anymore..."
Wade’s voice carried a hint of groaning. A foreboding feeling washed over Nicole, her eyes turning red with urgency, "Wade, I’m coming right away! Wait for me!"
