Elsa has used this trick a few times; if she isn’t tired, then Daisy surely is! From across the ocean, she still tries to pull this manipulative move! Isn’t she just trying to flaunt? Trying to tell Daisy that she’s with Aidan?!Just as Daisy Grant hung up the phone, her mobile beeped with a message notification. She clicked it open, and the sender was Aidan Sutherland.
The content, however, was a picture— a hotel room, messy sheets, and clothes scattered on the bed. At a glance, it was clear what had happened in that room moments ago!
The mockery in Daisy’s eyes deepened as she rolled down the car window and tossed her phone out with a snap, not even blinking an eye.
"Daisy!" Dawn Sutherland hurriedly hit the brakes and stopped the car.
Daisy closed her eyes, her expression calm, "Aidan, drive."
Dawn looked at her, the weariness on her face made his heart ache. He pursed his lips and spoke gently, "Daisy, what happened?"
"Aidan, don’t ask, just take me home." Daisy’s voice was somewhat hoarse and her brows tightly furrowed, seeming very upset.
What kind of call could make Daisy so unhappy? Dawn glanced at the person resting with closed eyes, puzzled inside, but complied with her words and drove off.
Silence fell between them. Seeing Daisy’s poor mood, Dawn turned on some music.
Daisy kept her eyes closed, saying not a word. Although Dawn’s gaze focused on the road ahead as if driving carefully, a corner of his eye continuously watched the unhappy person in the passenger seat.
Suddenly, a string of tears silently streamed down the cheek of the originally resting woman, quietly flowing over her delicate and beautiful face.
Dawn’s body gave a violent shudder. Daisy was gentle, but she was never overly timid. Since he had known Daisy, he had barely seen her cry, and this time, the silent tears fell as if they were dripping onto his heart.
Daisy kept her eyes closed, tears rolling down both cheeks.
She wasn’t crying because of Aidan and Elsa. She cried because she remembered Dawn’s words at the karaoke bar, already hurt inside, and then came Aidan’s incident.
The brother she loved has someone irreplaceable in his heart; he would never love her in this lifetime. It was never possible for them, how could she not be heartbroken, so much that even breathing became difficult.
And her? When Aidan returns in some time, the Grant and Sutherland families will formally set the wedding date. And when the word "sister-in-law" is spoken, it will be the sharpest blade against her heart in this world. She dared not even think about the situation of marrying Aidan and living under the same roof with her brother, with him calling her "sister-in-law."
As for Aidan, she dared not even entertain thoughts of how she could force herself to accept him after marriage, to truly give herself to him— she couldn’t do it, she really couldn’t!
Before the marriage, she could refuse Aidan’s insinuations, but after? Once they became married, she wouldn’t be able to avoid those marital matters every time!
Dawn’s speed gradually slowed down, little by little, finally stopping by the roadside.
"Daisy."
Daisy exerted great effort to hold back her sobbing, keeping her eyes closed for fear that the person in the driver’s seat would notice something unusual. But when Dawn’s gentle voice sounded, she couldn’t help but open her eyes, meeting his concerned gaze.
As their eyes met, Daisy was dazed.
His eyes were beautiful, like shining black gems, gentle and restrained, with striking features; when his thin lips slightly curved up, it was like a blooming sea of flowers, making her unable to look away.
"Daisy." Dawn handed her a tissue.
