Chapter 312: The Bracelet on the Left Wrist [2]
"Let me guess, the bracelet on your left wrist must be the one given to you by Movie King Seal! I’ve never seen you take it off since I met you. Has it been a few years? It looks like it’s a special bracelet; I bet Movie King Seal gave it to you! This is big exclusive news!""Quick, bribe me, or I’ll put you on the front page tomorrow! Treat me to a delicious meal and I’ll keep your secret—promise me~~~!"
Arlo Seys put down the phone, his mind stirred slightly.
When they met, he noticed the delicate bracelet on her wrist and had never seen her take it off. Was it because Langdon Seal gave it to her?
Arlo’s eyes dimmed a little; he had no mood for dealing with documents, so he simply went downstairs.
As he reached downstairs, he saw Ariel Morris setting a bowl of fragrant noodles on the dining table. Seeing him come down, Ariel greeted him with a radiant smile, "The noodles are ready. I was just about to call you, Arlo. Eat up."
Arlo walked over and started eating the noodles elegantly with chopsticks. Ariel sat opposite him, a gentle smile lifting her face.
After a few bites, Arlo remembered the content of the text message from earlier, which stifled his appetite but left his expression calm and unperturbed.
Ariel didn’t notice anything amiss with Arlo and poured him a glass of water, saying with a casual smile, "Tonight I had dinner with Vanessa and Brother Langdon. Vanessa said she wants to do an exclusive interview. Next time don’t be silly; make sure to eat. It’s already eleven o’clock—what if you damage your stomach from hunger?"
Arlo murmured lightly and glanced at Ariel, instinctively noticing her left wrist.
The delicate bracelet hung on her fair wrist, very beautiful. Arlo’s gaze deepened, "Ariel, the bracelet on your wrist is lovely."
Ariel felt her fingers tremble slightly upon hearing Arlo’s words, instinctively withdrawing her hand and placing it beneath the table on her lap. She lifted her eyes and smiled, saying nothing.
But her actions, deliberately withdrawing her arm beneath the table, made it impossible for Arlo not to think further.
She cared so much about this bracelet. Her friends said she’s worn it for years without taking it off. Is it because Langdon Seal gave it to her that she cares so much?
Saying he’s not jealous, saying he’s not upset—that would be a lie. Arlo finished the noodles in silence and went upstairs.
After he went upstairs, Ariel uncovered her wrist where the bracelet hid a deep scar. The injury had almost cost her life in Dublin.
Why did Arlo suddenly pay attention to this bracelet? Was it a casual question or something more?
If Arlo has already noticed the bracelet, then the scar it hides will soon be discovered by him. She genuinely didn’t want Arlo to find out about the scar or to ask about its origin.
When Ariel went upstairs to shower, she saw Arlo working busily at the desk. It was already midnight, yet he showed no intention of sleeping.
Ariel came out wearing pajamas after her shower, "Arlo, aren’t you going to rest? Why are you still working?"
Arlo didn’t lift his head, his pen rapidly moving over the documents, replying blandly, "Ariel, you go ahead and sleep. I still have some work to handle."
"Alright then, make sure to rest early!" Ariel advised, and went to bed.
Soon, the sound of even breathing came, prompting Arlo to lift his eyes toward the bed, his gaze somber.
He set down the pen, walked over softly, and lay beside Ariel, turning his head to watch her face, murmuring in a low voice, "Ariel, during the past eight years of your life, I haven’t been a part at all. That is my greatest regret and helplessness."
