Chapter 298: Nicole’s Mysterious Admirer
Chapter 298: Nicole’s Mysterious Admirer
The response to Laura Pinley was a deep sigh from Damien Morris.-
Inside the car.
Arlo Seys was quietly driving, while Ariel Morris in the passenger seat looked at his indifferent profile, pursing her lips and speaking somewhat dejectedly, "Arlo—do you not like my parents?"
His silence at the dinner table and the cold indifference when saying goodbye, she had seen it all clearly.
Arlo Seys’ fingers tightened on the steering wheel, his expression calm and natural, "Ariel, you’re overthinking. You know, I’ve always been indifferent by nature, and I’m not very familiar with your parents, so I spoke less."
"Don’t lie to me, Arlo, I can tell what you’re thinking from just a slight frown," Ariel said with a faint smile. "If you don’t like it, I’ll come on my own next time."
Arlo Seys pressed his thin lips together, "Ariel, what do your parents mean to you?"
Ariel paused for a moment, then spoke, "Without them, there wouldn’t be the me today."
If the Morris Family hadn’t adopted her, she’d probably still be in the orphanage, wouldn’t have gone to Scenic Hill to study, nor met Arlo. So, she was grateful to the Morris Family.
Arlo Seys looked at her deeply, "I understand."
Given how important the Morris couple were to Ariel, those transactions mustn’t be revealed to her. If she found out that her parents used her as a bargaining chip to ask him to save the Morris Clan, how heartbroken and saddened would she be?
-
Recently, the front desk at Era has been receiving a grand bouquet of roses every day, and the recipient is the same person, Secretary Nicole Seys, who has recently joined the sixty-eighth floor at Era.
Nicole Seys took the roses from the front desk, and behind her came the astonished and envious voices of female colleagues. With a helpless sigh, Nicole carried the flowers up to the sixty-eighth floor.
Ariel Morris watched her carrying a bouquet over and exclaimed, "Nicole, is your romantic fate blossoming a bit too much lately? Such a big bunch, 99 roses? That’s quite sincere!"
In response to Ariel’s teasing, Nicole placed the flowers on her desk and laughed, "Like them? I can have my brother send them to you! Not just 99, 999 if you prefer! Let’s turn our sixty-eighth floor into a rose garden!"
Ariel Morris gave her a playful glare, "Does your brother seem like the romantic type? Your brother, that cool and aloof God Seys, was actually someone I had to chase tirelessly!"
"Courageous indeed—" Nicole laughed, "Oh no, I was blind back then! Enjoy a lifetime of aloofness, since it was your choice!"
Ariel Morris: "... I’ll tell your brother every word of this!"
"Don’t!" Nicole laughed, urging her to stop, "With my brother’s vengeful nature, he’ll retaliate by pushing loads of work on me. Dear sister-in-law, please don’t tell him!"
Ariel Morris mischievously raised an eyebrow, "Then tell me, which God is sending these to you? Delivering roses every day but never showing up! Playing tricks to pursue you, huh?"
Nicole chuckled lightly, "He’s afraid to show his face, fearing my brother will beat him up."
"An acquaintance?" Ariel Morris was surprised, "God Seys wouldn’t go so far as to ruin a relationship, unless this acquaintance is no good!"
No good—Ariel Morris’ eyes widened immediately, staring at Nicole, "This acquaintance... it wouldn’t be Third Haynes, would it?"
Nicole nodded, "It’s him!"
".... You two... is there something going on?"
Nicole smiled faintly, "You’re getting it wrong, didn’t I walk the red carpet with him at the birthday party last time? He’s gotten addicted to making me play the scapegoat, wants me to accompany him to an evening banquet, supposedly for his former girlfriend’s birthday party."
"Did you decline?" Ariel Morris grinned mischievously, "So, he’s sending you roses every day to convince you to help him out again?"
"Yes," Nicole looked innocently at Ariel, "Ariel, do I look like a fool? Going to be his scapegoat again?"
