Chapter 230: The Bloodthirsty War Spear

Chapter 230: The Bloodthirsty War Spear

That was Li Wei's third card.

Yes — at this moment, any other option was too slow. Enhancing a title, upgrading other equipment, even pushing his Farmer Profession to four-star — none of it could be done in time.

From the moment he shouted those words to the moment Leon might sever the Ability User's head — no more than three seconds.

He had to form the strongest possible damage output in those three seconds, then strike, and at minimum critically wound the five-star Ability User.

That simple.

When Thomas activated the City Builder title. When he was launched dozens of meters through the air. When Leon activated the Decapitation Finisher. When that Thanos-like monstrous head was severed.

Li Wei witnessed all of it — and it didn't slow him down for a single step.

In the first second, he stored the Three-Star War Bow back into his Resource Card — saving 4 Encumbrance — and switched to the Dog Butcher title. That pushed his Agility to a maximum of 27.

By the third second — the exact moment the five-star Ability User's head was cut off — Li Wei switched to the Tracker title. He needed to locate the enemy's life cores.

Then there was no time to switch to the Bear Hunter title. The instant the five-star Ability User's head hit the ground, the Bloodthirsty War Spear was already leaving Li Wei's hand.At that moment, his sprint speed was approaching twenty meters per second. Not his absolute peak, but the optimal pace for throwing the Bloodthirsty War Spear — in terms of posture, stride, body angle, and the explosive channeling of his entire body's force into the spear in a single instant.

All of it was approaching one hundred percent perfection.

At the same moment, the faint glow of the Hunter Card's Destiny Grid shimmered around Li Wei.

He, too, had pushed his peak combat power to its absolute limit.

Throwing — that was the attack method the Hunter Destiny Grid openly, wholeheartedly supported with everything it had.

So even though the distance between Li Wei and the five-star Ability User was thirty meters, with the Hunter Destiny Grid's enhancement, the final impact precision still held at around 0.1 millimeters.

In that moment — even without a head — the five-star Ability User seemed to hear the mourning cry of beasts in the forest, the howl of mountain wind, the contempt and trampling of something that ruled these mountains.

His dim mind couldn't determine what it meant. He only felt, on instinct, that something had gone terribly wrong.

But he was too passive. From Thomas to Leon — the relentless chain of small-creature strikes had trapped him in a snare he couldn't break free from.

He could only watch as something burning-hot yet ice-cold as a snow mountain wrapped around him — and then tore through the single strongest defensive point at the center of his chest in the most violent, most savage, most ferocious way possible.

Unstoppable.

The defense he'd relied on as his greatest strength didn't hold for even a thousandth of a second before it was blown open. Then the spear punched through his heart — his largest and most central life core.

Even his monstrous body — weighing at least five hundred kilograms — was driven back several steps, and for a moment he felt something he couldn't control, like being swept away in a flood.

His terrifying life force drained rapidly. There was no recovering it.

If only the first life core had been severed — he would still have had the power to launch a devastating counterattack.

But having the second and largest life core destroyed within one second — even a Ability User of his overwhelming power could only howl helplessly at the sky.

His third life core was hidden in his lower abdomen. But repairing the first two was now impossible. Even rapidly rebuilding combat capability was beyond him. He could only crash to the ground with a heavy thud, writhing and struggling in silence — forming a strange tableau with Li Wei, Leon, and Thomas.

For the moment, none of them had any combat capability left.

Several hundred meters away, the natural humans in the bunker watched cautiously. The three-second peak exchange had been too fast for them to fully follow. Combined with the trees blocking their view, they couldn't tell what had actually happened — otherwise some bold fool might have fired a cannon shot or an anti-materiel sniper round into the mix.

Three or four seconds later, Thomas crawled upright, blood streaming from every orifice, still in shock.

Leon gasped and immediately moved away — he was too close to the Ability User. Even critically wounded, it could crush him effortlessly.

Li Wei was also breathing hard, heavy wooden sword in hand, switching back to the Dog Butcher title. There was likely still a hard fight ahead.

But what was there to fear?

"Heh heh heh — friend from afar, since you've come, why not stay?"

In those few seconds, the Ability User had already stood back up, reattached his severed head, and was trying to pull out the Bloodthirsty War Spear — but couldn't. He strained harder — and Li Wei was already charging in with the heavy wooden sword.

The Bloodthirsty War Spear was no longer the disposable weapon it once was. If this creature pulled it free, it would become a weapon turned against them.

"Heh heh heh — we're all Ability Users here. Why turn on each other?"

The Ability User rambled incoherently. Seeing Li Wei charge in, he gave up on the spear and let out a roar, lunging forward — but in that instant, Li Wei caught a blur of motion from the corner of his eye. A heartbeat later, a flash of sword light sliced across the Ability User's lower abdomen, then drove straight through his skull.

Li Yue. She'd arrived — just a moment late.

She stood at the Ability User's rear flank, holding a gleaming blue two-handed sword, moving just slightly faster than the five-star Ability User had been at full power.

The five-star Ability User crashed to the ground — his body split cleanly in two.

The life core hidden in his lower abdomen had been cut open. The already critically damaged life core in his skull had been pierced and destroyed.

In an instant, his corpse dissolved into billowing black vapor — which was about to disperse when Li Yue casually scattered something over it. The vapor ignited violently, and the black mist within it howled like tormented spirits — exactly like the scene when Hathaway had burned the Grand Witch Luna.

But — where was the Universal Gold Card?

Li Wei's brow furrowed. That was definitely no ordinary flame. So, dear little sister — you'd better not be pulling anything. Playing the victim?

Li Yue, however, seemed to have drained herself completely with that final strike. She sat on the ground, face pale, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth — as if an old wound had been aggravated.

Li Wei even had to step forward and help her up, pulling her behind a tree in case the natural humans took a shot at them.

But the natural humans were too terrified to make a sound.

About thirty seconds passed. The black vapor in the flames finally vanished entirely, and the flames died with it — leaving a Universal Gold Card floating in the air.

Good.

Li Wei waved a hand. Thomas and Leon stepped forward and touched it in turn — their wounds healed completely, their condition restored.

Li Wei looked down at the pale-faced Li Yue, and his mind was in turmoil.

Yes — Universal Gold Cards had healing properties. And this was a five-star Universal Gold Card at that. Damn.

This woman's luck was something else.

That said — to avoid a violation, Li Wei gritted his teeth and carried the barely-mobile Li Yue over to the Universal Gold Card. At this point he was certain: Li Yue's injuries were genuinely severe. Not just from the final strike against the Ability User — there were older, more serious wounds underneath.

Sure enough. When the gold card's light washed over Li Yue, the brilliant golden glow dimmed by more than half in an instant.

Li Yue's color returned immediately.

Even the half of her scalp that had been torn away, along with the hair, grew back. The dense centipede-like scars covering her face healed over. Damn.

And the Universal Gold Card — originally five-star — dropped in quality, splitting into two four-star Universal Gold Cards.

The moment Li Wei picked up both cards, lines of text appeared silently before all five of them.

[Battle concluded. This battle's difficulty: Four-Star Minus. Relevant Pioneering Points have been recorded. Details as follows.]

[You have successfully hunted and killed a Five-Star Ability User together. You have saved this natural human base, which was on the verge of destruction with its ammunition exhausted. You have gained 48 surviving natural humans. After laying the fallen to rest, you may lead them back to the Level 3 Scavenger Camp. The maximum Contribution cap for the family can now be raised to 12,000 points.]

[Based on the combat process, participant contributions are as follows:]

[Li Wei — contribution share 60%: triggering the mission via his Noble Crest +5%, command +5%, drawing away and killing a four-star Ability User, preventing greater losses to the natural humans +10%, participating in the encirclement and killing of the five-star Ability User and critically destroying its most important life core +40%.]

[Thomas — contribution share 10%: blocking the five-star Ability User's full-force strike and causing the target to stall for one second.]

[Leon — contribution share 10%: using the Decapitation Finisher to sever the five-star Ability User's skull life core and critically wound it, providing sufficient buffer time for the final attack.]

[Li Yue — contribution share 19%: performing outstanding surgical first aid on two critically wounded natural humans, and in the final moments of the battle, harvesting and destroying the five-star Ability User's last two life cores.]

[Zhao Xuanxuan — contribution share 1%: caring for the wounded and assisting with first aid.]

[Li Wei, for solo-killing a four-star Ability User, receives 1,000 Contribution points. Total: 3,525.]

[For killing the five-star Ability User, saving the natural humans, and capturing the underground base, total Contribution earned is 5,000 points (including all removable and transportable supplies inside). This will be distributed according to contribution share. Additionally, due to the lingering Dictator BUFF, all participants except Li Wei receive only half of their additional contribution. Breakdown as follows:]

[Thomas receives 250 Contribution points. Total: 450. He is now officially a Camp Member and is no longer affected by the lingering Dictator BUFF.]

[Leon receives 250 Contribution points. Total: 375. He is now officially a Camp Member. Same as above.]

[Li Yue receives 475 Contribution points. Total: 575. She is now officially a Family Member. Same as above.]

[Zhao Xuanxuan receives 25 Contribution points. Total: 175.]

[Li Wei, due to the lingering Dictator BUFF, receives 4,000 Contribution points. Total: 7,525.]

[You have collectively obtained two Universal Gold Cards. Their distribution will also follow individual contribution shares. Due to their special nature, they are not affected by the Dictator BUFF. You may decide among yourselves how to distribute and use these two Universal Gold Cards.]

[Friendly reminder: because Li Yue used a precious item to incinerate the five-star Ability User's corpse, using these two Universal Gold Cards will not trigger a difficulty increase. You now have three minutes to decide. If no choice is made within the time limit, Option 1 will be selected by default.]

[Warning: the current Pioneering Mission's total difficulty has been additionally increased by 90%.]
