Chapter 22: One-Star Hunter Card

Chapter 22: One-Star Hunter Card

Two messages flashed by quickly, but Li Wei paid little attention to either. He directly discarded the wooden spear in his hand, which was now covered in blood and unsuitable for continued use.

After casually wiping his hands on his clothes, he turned around, picked up the wooden spear Fila had thrown on the ground, and immediately chased into the forest. He needed to kill that injured gray wolf at the very least.

As for Fila, after being knocked down again, she seemed to have been scared out of her wits.

And Penny, with at least a dozen wounds on her body—though none were critical—was completely exhausted after the earlier desperate escape and delivering that miraculous assist.

"George, don't be reckless, come back quickly! We can plan this carefully!" Fila finally shouted.

But Li Wei remained unmoved, instead quickening his pace. This opportunity only came once. That injured gray wolf would definitely die, but he absolutely couldn't let it die in the mouth of another beast or bleed out somewhere else.

Li Wei needed the experience it would bring.

At this moment, he wasn't being reckless—he was being completely rational.

In fact, the more he chased, the faster the two gray wolves ran. As they fled ahead, they even startled away venomous snakes and other creatures.

After crossing the creek and reaching the forest outskirts, the injured gray wolf finally collapsed on the ground. The other gray wolf let out a mournful howl, glanced back at Li Wei, then rushed into the forest like the wind, not daring to challenge Li Wei one-on-one.About ten seconds later, Li Wei rushed forward, finished off the injured gray wolf with a single spear thrust, then decisively dragged its corpse back.

Almost simultaneously, several lines of information quickly flashed by.

【You have killed an ordinary adult gray wolf. You have gained 30 Hunting Experience. Wolf Menace Mission progress: 2/4】

【This is already the third gray wolf you have killed. Your courage, strength, and skill have been proven. Do you wish to advance further?】

【You will obtain a One-Star Hunter Card, unlocking a second profession, but the cost is that the mission clearance conditions will change.】

Huh?

A Hunter Card!

This was truly an unexpected delight.

Li Wei certainly wouldn't refuse—he wanted this more than anything.

The next second, it was as if time had stagnated again. Gray mist surged around him, then quickly dissipated. A gray card now floated before his eyes, identical in appearance to the previous Farmer Card.

But the moment he picked up this Hunter Card, it disappeared. In its place, a strange warm current flowed into his heart, a power brewing and emerging, along with what felt like gaining additional things.

At the same time, lines of information appeared.

【One-Star Hunter Card has been bound. Automatically gained 5 Free Attribute Points】

【Profession changed to Apprentice Hunter】

【Gained Profession Talent: Ranged Weapon Accuracy passively increased by 30%】

【Has entered corresponding world. World Difficulty: One Star】

Excellent.

For a moment, Li Wei genuinely wanted to charge into the forest without stopping to kill those two gray wolves. Apprentice Hunter, a second profession! And he even gained five additional Free Attribute Points.

He, Li Wei, was now visibly growing stronger.

But Li Wei quickly calmed down. The forest wasn't like the more open valley. Once he entered it, what he would face wouldn't be as simple as just two gray wolves.

Additionally, after this battle, his Stamina Points had dropped to 10. He could feel his calves trembling. He would need at least one or two hours of rest to possibly recover.

That's right—Stamina didn't immediately recover upon being depleted.

So everything really did need careful planning.

Li Wei immediately shouldered the gray wolf's corpse and retreated. On this side, Fila and Penny had already worked together to drag the other gray wolf corpse back to camp.

None of the three said anything. After Fila helped Penny treat her wounds, she hurried out to process the two wolf corpses. In such hot weather, they could spoil easily.

Li Wei went to the creek to wash up, then retrieved the dropped wooden spears. After resting for over an hour until his stamina fully recovered, he drove Old Ox to graze near the camp and took the sickle to cut grass.

Although the wolf menace hadn't been completely resolved, that didn't mean other tasks couldn't be done. Herding the ox and cutting grass were still possible—they just needed to remain highly alert and not get distracted.

The valley became very quiet afterward. Except for occasional wolf howls from deep within the eastern forest—the sounds quite mournful—were these wolves calling for companions?

This thought occasionally crossed Li Wei's mind, and he cut grass even faster.

The wild grass in the valley benefited from abundant rainfall, so it grew well. Li Wei madly cut grass around the camp perimeter, clearing out a large area around the camp throughout the day. The cut green grass was enough to feed Old Ox for several days.

Of course, Li Wei had a purpose for doing this.

Old Ox needed to eat grass, and someone had to herd it daily. How tragic would it be if they got attacked by gray wolves while herding!

Additionally, cutting grass also cleared a large field of vision, preventing wild wolves from silently approaching.

When the sun set, Li Wei drove Old Ox back to camp. Just as he was hurrying to bring back a bundle of grass, wolf howls sounded again from the eastern forest—this time very close.

"George, come back quickly! The wolf pack is coming again!" Penny shouted hoarsely from behind the camp wall, her face somewhat pale. She had been injured earlier and couldn't actually do much, but even so, she had insisted on standing on the ox cart during the afternoon to watch from high ground and warn Li Wei.

The Wolf Menace Mission forced them to temporarily unite.

Almost simultaneously, a line of information silently appeared.

【Warning: Because you failed to eliminate the root cause and kill the Wolf King, the Wolf Menace Mission will change over time. Current Wolf Menace Mission progress: 2/6】

Good grief!

Where did two more wolves spawn from!

Li Wei broke into a run, even abandoning the grass he had cut.

When he rushed into the camp and climbed onto the ox cart to look out, he saw four gray wolves rapidly approaching, their manner quite arrogant. Especially one black wolf—its physique was very strong, its gaze sinister. When it raised its head to look over, Li Wei even felt as if there was a person hidden inside its body.

That was hatred, hostility, and a declaration of a fight to the death.

Even Li Wei felt his heart skip a beat under the black wolf's gaze.
