Chapter 25 : News Of Iron Ingots
Chapter 25 : News Of Iron Ingots
Arthur landed with its wings folded as it tossed the corpse of the soaring griffin to the side.
Bai Yu reached her small hand out towards the tall Arthur and gave a thumbs up.
"Awesome!"
Bai Yu looked at the 3m long griffin, probably about 1.8m to 2.2m without the tail.
Compared to the 10+ meters long Arthur, it really was tiny.
Bai Yu planned to use her left eye's magic to turn this griffin into a skeletal beast.
This griffin was the perfect bird (griffin) mount for her.
After all, it was a level 7 just lying there.
Even if its stats got lowered, it should still be stronger than the skeletal and death warriors.
Within the pupil of Bai Yu's left eye, a grey triangle appeared.
The triangle rotated to form a hexagonal magic circle and emitted a faint blue glow.
A hexagon pattern identical to the one in Bai Yu's eyes materialized underneath the griffin's corpse.
A skeletal wing rose first from the magic circle, followed by the other wing, then the body, and finally all four limbs.
The original griffin corpse started to sag, probably because it lost the bones inside.
But at least the meat was still there.
Bai Yu checked this skeletal beast summoned from the soaring griffin corpse.
Its shape was the same as before, just that now it was all bones and looked a lot uglier.
"There's not much difference, so it's just extracting the bones and soul to make a brand new creature, and into an undead?"
Bai Yu really couldn’t appreciate how it looked, but Bai Yu wasn’t after a vase.
Being useful was the most important, who cared if it was ugly or not.
Up until now, aside from the skeletal dragon, Bai Yu felt that all the undeads looked ugly.
[Skeletal Griffin]
[Unit Type: Undead]
[Loyalty: 100% (Will never betray you)]
[Unit Tier: Normal]
[Level: lv 7 (Cannot be improved)]
[Health: None (Undead trait, cannot die unless the soul’s fire is extinguished)]
[Mana: 0]
[Strength: 38]
[Stamina: None]
[Agility: 43]
[Growth Limit: Emperor Tier]
lv7 Skeletal Griffin, around forty strength and agility.
Compared to other basic undead, the stats were pretty good.
"Dismantle!"
The corpse was useless, Bai Yu chose to make full use of it.
[Successfully dismantled lv 7 soaring griffin corpse, received 50 food, 2 magic crystals, 1 spirit core.]
A spirit core, huh.
Not bad.
It seemed like Bai Yu's previous guess that only creatures above level 5 dropped spirit cores was right.
Bai Yu recalled that griffons should also be able to use magic, right.
This was a fantasy world after all.
Any high level creature that couldn't use magic wouldn’t survive here.
But after the Griffon turned into an undead, as the price for gaining the undead trait and infinite endurance, it also lost all its abilities from when it was alive.
As a product of transformation and summoning, the skeletal beast being able to have such high stats was already pretty good.
As long as it could fly, it was a good undead.
Bai Yu also found something weird.
All undead not summoned from the barracks had this weird trait, it was that their levels were clearly locked and unable to increase, but the growth limit still showed.
Was this evidence that those undead might have a chance to overcome the level lock in the future?
Bai Yu noted this question down in her small notebook.
She would figure out the answer later.
Bai Yu still remembered the ability description from when she built the Black Water Altar yesterday.
[Ability 3: Undeads cleansed by the black water will be strengthened, with a very low chance of changing their growth limit. (ineffective on those king tier and higher)]
Bai Yu's current number of undead had already reached a terrifying 788.
With Arthur and the just summoned skeletal beast totaled 790.
All the undead aside from the griffin had undergone strengthening from the Black Water Altar.
Ability 3 mentioned an extremely low chance to cause a change in growth limit.
Bai Yu didn't notice anything at all, probably because all her luck was used up on barrack pulls.
Luck was a mysterious thing, Bai Yu couldn't force it.
Some people spent 648 on a hundred pulls and got nothing, while others managed to get it from a single free pull, it was just frustrating.
Bai Yu let the skeletal griffin go into the Black Water Altar to enhance it and all stats increased by 6 points.
As for the enhancement, it was the same as the skeletons' enhancement, which was hardened bones.
"Arthur, keep leveling up!"
Bai Yu sent Arthur away, this skeletal griffon couldn't level up, so naturally she arranged for it to go outside the castle to hunt.
"Ah! Look at my pig brain, I forgot to let the troops I summoned last night go into the Black Water Altar!"
Bai Yu patted her little head, she must have been too tired yesterday to actually forget such an important thing.
The skeletal griffin was about to fly away when Bai Yu hurriedly told it to stop,
"Go call the gargoyle and those undead who haven't been enhanced by the Black Water Altar back."
Bai Yu said to the confused skeletal griffin.
The skeletal griffin shook its head, it was as if it understood what Bai Yu was saying, but also as if it didn't.
It spread its wings and flew out of the castle.
"I don't think I've ever heard of its IQ dropping after turning undead?"
"Or was this dumb bird just always stupid?"
Whatever, they will always come back eventually, it didn't matter when they got strengthened.
Bai Yu opened the trading hub, wanting to see how her food listing was doing.
"Fuck! Iron ingots!"
Bai Yu simply couldn't believe it, she actually saw iron ingots.
Bai Yu always believed that her development speed, while unlikely to reach tier 0 among billions of lords, was at least tier 0.5, right?
Even until now, Bai Yu was completely clueless about iron ingots.
She hadn't even seen them before, let alone know how to get them.
Although Bai Yu guessed it would probably require mining, setting aside whether the undead even know how to mine, there should at least be mines around her castle, right?
Bai Yu's current territory was 6000 meters in radius.
The diameter was 12000 meters, which wasn't that small.
But forget about mountains, there were even any hills in her territory.
The only mountain was that snowy mountain, a very obvious high level area.
For Bai Yu, a noob who hadn't even left the beginner village, the snowy mountain was way too difficult.
No wait, the snowy mountains might not even have iron ore, right?
The listing price for iron ingots was really too expensive, it was even more of a scam than Bai Yu's.
[1 iron ingot, in exchange for 80 wood or 2 food or 2 magic crystal. 100 iron ingot, in exchange for 1 spirit core.]
The listed price was based on big shot's like Bai Yu who listed at a fourfold premium.
One iron ingot was two food.
You want a spirit core for just one hundred iron ingots?
What kind of shit was the lord who listed this on?
Iron ingots right now were equivalent to food on the first day, both scarce resources that gave the lords a false sense of security.
Once they all upgrade their castles to level 9, they will all realize that they needed a whole ten thousand of the previously unseen iron ingots to upgrade to a town.
By then, they will all be dumbfounded.
Ten thousand iron ingots versus one hundred spirit cores, which had higher value was obvious.
Spirit cores were still the most scarce high tier resource right now, and Bai Yu wouldn't trade them away so easily.
The trading hub only displayed the name of the lord who listed the trading once when it was listed.
After that, it wouldn't show again and you would need to tap into the listing to see more information.
Bai Yu pouted, feeling annoyed.
"Let me see which bastard managed to get a step ahead of me, what a hateful guy!"
