Chapter 17 : Massive Upgrade of Troops
Chapter 17 : Massive Upgrade of Troops
You have to know that Bai Yu’s stats doubled when she equipped her weapon. Level 6 Bai Yu now had stats that nearly matched Arthur at level 3.
Huh, it didn’t seem like something to show off.
Her level 6 stats doubled were just the same as Arthur at level 3…
It felt a bit devastating.
Bai Yu couldn’t wait to try out the Black Water Altar’s effects. She immediately ordered a skeleton soldier outside the castle to bring her a wild rabbit corpse and a live wild rabbit.
Bai Yu ordered the skeleton soldier to throw the wild rabbit corpse into the Black Water Altar. The moment the wild rabbit corpse touched the black water, a large amount of black smoke burst out. Amidst the smoke, blue green colored magic circles flashed, then a skeleton soldier directly climbed out from the wild rabbit corpse.
The skeleton soldier’s bones were darkened, a clear contrast to that other skeleton soldier next to the altar.
Bai Yu clearly remembered checking the level of the wild rabbit corpse before she threw it into the altar, and it was definitely level 1.
The skeleton soldier next to the altar was also level 1, so why did the skeleton soldier summoned by the Black Water Altar look like it had been wrapped?
Could it be the enhancement effect from the Black Water Altar?
Bai Yu checked the stats of this wrapped skeleton soldier. She found that it wasn’t much different from the normal skeleton soldier’s stats, it was just that everything had been increased by 1 point.
In other words, the enhancement from the Black Water Altar was just a boost to the undead basic stats.
Bai Yu ignored these for now. She ran over to the altar to see if the wild rabbit corpse was still there or not. This was crucial to Bai Yu’s grand development plan. If the corpse got consumed by the Black Water Altar, then Bai Yu could only give up on using the Black Water Altar for now and manually summon undead herself.
“The corpse is still there, nice!”
Bai Yu admired the system’s user friendliness. She then ordered the skeleton soldier to throw the live wild rabbit into the Black Water Altar.
The wild rabbit was rudely thrown into the altar by the skeleton soldier. As soon as the wild rabbit fell into the black water in the altar, it started wildly struggling. Its body began to be corroded by the black water, dissolving into black smoke. Just as the wild rabbit was about to escape the altar’s range, a pale blue shield blocked its way.
The wild rabbit wailed and turned into a pile of bones, its body completely eroded. Afterwards, a magic circle lit up and the bones of the wild rabbit reassembled into a skeleton soldier exactly like the previous one.
“So cruel. Rabbits are so cute, how can you abuse the rabbit?”
Bai Yu figured out how it worked. Dropped a corpse into the Black Water Altar would preserve the corpse and directly summon the undead, while throwing a living creature inside would cause its flesh to be eroded and leave nothing behind.
Looks like she couldn’t throw living creatures into the altar in the future, it was just too cruel.
(Definitely not because it didn’t leave the corpses!)
Bai Yu then had the skeleton soldier walk into the altar. Undeads entering the altar were completely different from other creatures.
Bai Yu only saw the surrounding black water appear to transform into tiny dots of energy and surge toward the skeleton soldier, finally successfully being enhanced.
Bai Yu checked the stats. Sure enough, all the stats had increased by 1, the same as the two skeleton soldiers that were summoned.
The curious Bai Yu started her experimentations. Separately having the skeleton warriors, spectres, high spectres, zombies, death warriors, undead knights, and death knights enter the Black Water Altar as a test.
Spectres, zombies, and skeleton soldiers all had their stats increased by 1 point.
Skeletal warriors, high spectres, death warriors, and undead knights, as her tier 2 units, all had their stats increased by 2 points.
As for the evolved tier 2 units like the death knights, their stats were increased by 3 points.
What type of mechanic was this, it was essentially like a half level boost in stats, and it was permanent.
As for their changes in appearance, skeletons looked like they had been coated, with their bones becoming dark.
The spectres and high spectres looked more ethereal, giving off a mystical feeling
The zombies and death warriors started emitting a faint black gas. Whether this was a corpse aura or foot odor, Bai Yu wasn’t sure.
The undead knights and the death knights had their flames burn a bit more fiercely, maybe? They probably had the least change.
“Oh, the Black Water Altar had tooltips, how did I not notice earlier?”
Bai Yu clicked open the panel for the Black Water Altar special building. On it was actually a tooltip for each unit type.
[Skeletons: Hardened bones. All the bones are strengthened, increasing attack and defense.]
[Spectres: Improved spirit. Spirit power is increased. When enough spectres attack together, they can resonate together.]
[Zombies: Body reinforcement. Zombie attacks apply corpse poison, slowing enemies down. The poison can stack.]
[Undead knights: Strengthened soulfire. Strengthens the power of curses and soul attacks. When confronting enemies weaker than itself, there’s a chance to intimidate the enemy into sacrificing their own souls.]
“Holy moly, turns out it wasn’t just about increasing their basic stats. Each unit type also thoughtfully got new passive skills!”
Black Water Altar really was worthy of being a king tier building, it was way too strong. Now, Bai Yu’s undead army not only had the advantage in numbers, but could also match others in terms of quality.
The skeleton soldiers were also no longer just cannon fodder. They were at least slightly stronger cannon fodder!
Next, Bai Yu was going to start strengthening all of her undead army in batches, doing her best to increase her strength.
With all the lords, over ten billion people were transmigrated over to this magical world. People will die and strength was everything. Only the strong could compete for dominance.
The weak didn’t even deserve to survive!
And before the 7 day newbie protection period ended, Bai Yu needed to also build the Bone Throne. This single Black Water Altar was so OP, Bai Yu couldn’t even imagine how strong this Bone Throne, needing more resources than the Black Water Altar, would be.
“It’s only the second day, no rush. I’m already ahead of most people. I definitely won’t become cannon fodder after the seven days.”
Bai Yu silently encouraged herself.
She then continued trading food and enhancing her units. Arthur was in charge of leveling up, and then she needed to figure out how to get iron ingots, build the Bone Throne, and upgrade to a town.
Bai Yu noted down the tasks she needed to do over the next few days in her little notebook. As long as she could finish all of these, the monster wave after the seven days would definitely not be an issue.
Oh right, she still needed to avenge her fellow townsman!
This was the most important one, she absolutely couldn’t forget it!
Bai Yu added this to her little notebook again.
Afterwards, Bai Yu started directing the undeads to enter the altar for enhancement. Although the altar could fit all of them at once, there was still work to be done, right?
The work on hand couldn’t stop.
Once all these undeads finished their enhancement, when Arthur returned in the evening, she would let it go in to be enhanced as well. Arthur, as the skeletal dragon king, a big shot with a growth limit at the divine tier, would definitely be earth shattering after being enhanced.
Bai Yu was counting on Arthur to carry her.
