Chapter 279 - 30: True Evil God, Pseudo-Evil God (Part 2)
Chapter 279 - 30: True Evil God, Pseudo-Evil God (Part 2)
"And your Ventecenia Kingdom’s exclusive Soldier Type is the Extraordinary Mage Master, who specializes in AOE damage."
"You should have every advantage in a defensive siege, right?"
mad madam’s tone was flat, but every word was like a splash of cold water to the heart:
"It’s useless."
"The Flame Emperor Galukasa’s Talent... definitely has an ability that counters the No-Fly Magic Array."
"It can’t completely disable the No-Fly Magic Array—it still enforces a certain altitude limit—but it’s enough to let his Dragon Cavalry circle above our cities, specifically targeting the squishy ranged units defending on the walls."
"Combine that with his suicidal attack style, which completely disregards soldier casualties, and any of our Extraordinary Mage Masters who dare to show themselves on the walls will be run through by a descending Dragon Rider after casting two or three spells at most. Skewered right through the heart."
"But once the ranged units on the walls lose their suppressive fire, the empire’s ’Heavy Armor Canisters’ can breach the city gates at lightning speed and pour into the streets."
"In close-quarters combat, none of Ventecenia’s basic or exclusive Soldier Types are a match for the empire’s soldiers."
"So naturally, it’s impossible for them to hold the city after the walls have been completely breached by the Imperial Army."
Hearing this, Qin Feng’s brow furrowed involuntarily. He spoke slowly:
"Is that so?"
"Then there’s really nothing to be done."
He knew very well that mad madam had been fighting on the main battlefield between the Gulad Empire and the Ventecenia Kingdom. She had more insider information than the other Lord Players.
Regarding the war between the two nations, rumors from the outside world claimed that although the Ventecenia Kingdom was at a disadvantage, it had used some kind of Powerful Magic to "trap" the Flame Emperor Galukasa’s vast Imperial Army near a certain city.
But the reality was far less dignified.
It wasn’t so much that the Ventecenia Kingdom had trapped the Flame Emperor Galukasa’s Imperial Army.
Rather, the Ventecenia Kingdom was forcibly holding the Flame Emperor Galukasa’s Imperial Army in that area through the sacrifice of countless soldiers.
After all, without the ability to rely on the No-Fly Magic Array for control, and considering the Extraordinary Dragon Cavalry’s "high mobility" and "One-Hit Kill" capabilities which naturally counter Mages, plus the Imperial faction’s inherent advantage with close-combat Soldier Types, the capital of Ventecenia would have likely been steamrolled by the Flame Emperor Galukasa long ago.
"Tingfeng."
"Whatever you do, don’t let this information get out yet."
"The people of the Ventecenia Kingdom still have faith in their queen."
"If this leaks, especially to the kingdom’s defending forces, the soldiers’ morale will collapse in an instant."
"At that point, the containment Magic Array, no longer supported by the army, will immediately fall apart. The Flame Emperor Galukasa will be able to march straight in and take the Royal City of Ventecenia."
Qin Feng nodded.
"Mm."
"I know."
...
「Meanwhile, at Beliles, a fortress in the Ventecenia Kingdom’s Northern Territory...」
This main battlefield, where the Kingdom Army had used Magic to contain the Flame Emperor Galukasa’s Imperial Army, was shrouded in the thick stench of war.
A crimson Ancient Giant Dragon beat its wings, circling hundreds of meters in the air. The Flame Emperor Galukasa sat firmly on its back, his robes whipping about in the high-altitude winds.
He looked down at the ground below. Countless Magic Puppets were surging forth like a tide, launching a relentless assault on the Imperial Army. The battle was brutal, yet he showed no sign of being moved.
"Jinli!"
"Haven’t you had enough to eat yet?"
The Flame Emperor Galukasa’s thin lips parted, and a whisper only he could hear escaped his mouth.
The moment he spoke, a strange voice that no one else could perceive, eerie in its quality, suddenly echoed in the depths of his mind like a response from the Abyss.
"Hah!"
"I’ve been starving for over a thousand years!"
"How could this meager amount of Power of Life possibly satisfy me?"
The voice, laced with bone-chilling Greed and dissatisfaction, reverberated in the Flame Emperor Galukasa’s mind.
After a brief pause, the eerie voice from the Void spoke again, its tone now tinged with a sinister expectation.
"However..."
"If you completely crush the Ventecenia Kingdom..."
"...and bring me all the Power of Life from that land, perhaps I can scrape together enough strength to emerge from my slumber and lend you a hand."
The voice from the Void carried a lazy, seductive quality, yet its tone was uncompromisingly conditional, as if "lending a hand" was already a monumental gift.
The Flame Emperor Galukasa’s brow tightened abruptly. His voice was filled with suppressed anger as he questioned:
"What do you mean?"
"I’ve sacrificed the entire Gulad Empire, even giving up the Imperial Capital where I grew up, and that’s still not enough for you?"
Jinli’s strange voice remained flat, yet it held an insatiable Greed. Every word dripped with a sense of entitlement:
"Of course it’s not enough."
"Most of that Power of Life was devoured by those Pseudo-God Believers. At best, I could only pick at the scraps they left behind, barely enough to fill my stomach."
"Especially that Pseudo-God Believer named Tingfeng. His efficiency at absorbing the Power of Life is the most absurd."
"Any being he kills personally leaves not even a sliver of the Power of Life behind."
"And as for his Pseudo-God soldiers, while they leave some Power of Life after each kill, it’s less than half of what’s left when others kill a creature. It’s practically useless."
After a pause, Jinli continued:
"Speaking of which."
"My original intention was for you to keep that Nesia fellow around."
"Let him kill some people to serve as an appetizer for me."
"Once you had dealt with the Ventecenia Kingdom, you could have gone back to kill Nesia’s group of Pseudo-God Believers and slowly devour the Power of Life within them."
"I didn’t expect this other guy to cut in and steal the prize."
"Fortunately, for some unknown reason, he’s now in a stalemate with the group of Pseudo-God Believers in your nation’s Royal City. Neither side has made a move to start a war."
"And as long as he and his army remain idle, once you’ve dealt with the trouble here and rushed back, most of the Power of Life within them will become nutrients for my recovery..."
A rare hint of relief crept into Jinli’s tone. The eerie voice held an urgent anticipation for these "nutrients," as if it could already envision the Power of Life pouring into its body.
The Flame Emperor Galukasa took a slow breath, suppressing his irritation, but his voice still sounded helpless:
"But the problem is, if you don’t come out and help, I can’t break the Ventecenia Kingdom’s containment Magic Array at all."
"Those Magic Puppets keep attacking endlessly from outside the Magic Array. Forget about trying to break the Array; it’s now a question of whether my army can even survive."
Jinli’s voice carried a casual certainty as it slowly explained:
"Don’t worry."
"I’ve already conducted a thorough Investigation for you."
"These Magic Puppets are all part of the enemy’s Blinding Technique, powered by the lives of the Kingdom Army’s soldiers."
"Therefore, for every Magic Puppet your soldiers destroy, one of their Kingdom Army soldiers perishes."
"At such a high rate of life-force consumption, they can’t last much longer."
"Afterward, you can slaughter them as you please..."
Jinli’s voice suddenly dropped, its tone gaining a rare gravity:
"Right now..."
"...what you should really be worried about are those Pseudo-God Believers."
"Especially that Divine Chosen Lord named ’Tingfeng.’ He’s far more trouble than those Pseudo-God Believers who worship the Pseudo-Evil God, the ’God of Envy, Leviathan.’"
"Because I’ve detected a trace of divinity on him."
"Do you know what that means?"
The Flame Emperor Galukasa’s pupils contracted. He was clearly stunned, his voice filled with bewilderment:
"Divinity?"
"What does that mean?"
Jinli’s tone grew cold, its words laced with a bone-chilling frost:
"It means..."
"...that this guy is very likely a Clone manifested through the Divine Descent of some Pseudo-God."
"They are personally entering the field to participate in this game of slaughter that they themselves created."
