Chapter 256 19: Su Mumu's Great Wilderness Heaven-Caging Finger
Chapter 256 19: Su Mumu's Great Wilderness Heaven-Caging Finger
After all, they were equipped with high-grade gear of purple quality and above. Ordinary Mortal enemies of the same level simply couldn't one-shot them through their advanced armor.
Furthermore, opponents who had reached the Extraordinary Realm were few and far between, making it difficult to annihilate their entire force in one fell swoop. They should have been able to hold out and struggle for much longer.
But Su Mumu's mysterious Talent shattered that reality.
It granted all of Qin Feng's Divine Chosen Army a 500% bonus to all stats. Not only was there no range limit, but the effect also lasted for an entire day.
This led to a brutal reality.
When the soldiers of the Northern Territory faced Ordinary Level Divine Chosen Soldiers of the same rank, it felt no different than facing a group of Superhumans from the Extraordinary Realm.
Regardless of the opponent's rank, a single landed blow meant shattered armor and instant death.
Damn it all!
'I thought at worst, this would be like charging skilled archers on the Great Wall with swords and spears. We should've at least had a fighting chance!'
'But what was the reality?'
'The arrows fired by those archers on the wall had the stopping power of a WWII Kar98k. They were one-shot kills right from the start!'
'And next to them was a whole horde of Extraordinary Mages relentlessly casting Flame Magic!'
'How the hell are we supposed to fight this?'
And so, under this one-sided, overwhelming pressure, the morale of the Northern Territory army completely shattered, and they began to scatter in a frenzy.
Many of the Northern Territory soldiers charging the Great Wall couldn't take it anymore. They simply dropped to their knees with a thud and threw their hands in the air, surrendering.
The instant they surrendered, they were designated as white-named prisoners by the "Riding and Cutting System."
The arrows and Fireballs that had been hurtling toward them suddenly lost all their killing power, as if by the intervention of some mysterious force.
The arrows now seemed to have lost all momentum, fluttering harmlessly to the ground.
The Fireballs dissolved into scattered embers, showering down like a harmless drizzle that didn't even singe the hems of their clothes.
"Huh!?"
"Could this be the Divine Power wielded by the Divine Chosen Lord!?"
"If we surrender, we won't be killed!?"
At this realization, more of the wavering Northern Territory soldiers could no longer hold out. They dropped their weapons and gestured their surrender toward the Divine Chosen Soldiers on the Great Wall, the ones representing the Holy Empire Faction.
The instinct to survive became their strongest motivation, and it was this instinct that truly bought them a chance at life.
Countless Ranged Attacks seemed to grow eyes, whistling past their bodies without hitting them.
Arrows shot past their ears and Fireballs grazed their shoulders, yet not a single attack harmed them in the slightest.
The group of Northern Territory soldiers who chose to surrender moved safely through the chaotic battlefield, step by step, toward a safe zone not far away.
The only exception was the sneak attacks from their "allies" at their backs.
The Northern Territory soldiers who had not yet surrendered were not, however, bound by the "Riding and Cutting" rule that a Lord cannot attack his prisoners.
In their eyes, any comrade who laid down their arms was a traitor to their country and to the Duke of the Northern Territory. As such, they had no qualms about cutting down these deserters.
However, the tide of surrenders continued to swell, and it even included elite soldiers from the Extraordinary Realm.
Faced with this overwhelming momentum, the loyalists tasked with executing the deserters were gradually overwhelmed. They could only watch helplessly as their own lines collapsed and the battle was irretrievably lost.
It even reached the point where the finest soldiers, promoted to Battlefield Supervisor by the Duke of the Northern Territory for their loyalty, began to waver intensely.
The thought of surrender grew like a wild vine in their hearts.
Finally, one of them could no longer bear it and shouted hoarsely to the Duke of the Northern Territory:
"Your Grace!"
"We've already lost!"
"We must retreat!"
"We'll cover your retreat with our lives!"
In the Gulad Empire, there were no soldiers who dared to flee the battlefield alone, but there was never a shortage of noble lords to lead the retreat.
Of course, they wouldn't call it "fleeing."
They'd euphemistically call it a "strategic retreat" or a "tactical redeployment."
And so, for the first time, Qin Feng witnessed the sight of a mass exodus of routed Gulad Soldiers.
He scoffed, his tone laced with sarcasm.
'How interesting.'
'If an ordinary soldier tries to run, it's considered an insult to the Empire's fighting spirit, punishable by the eternal torture of a thousand cuts.'
'But when the noble lords want to run, not a damn thing happens.'
'They can even grant amnesty to the common soldiers who run with them, magically erasing their "crime of insulting the fighting spirit".'
'Now that's what I call "fighting spirit".'
As he was griping, Qin Feng's gaze fell upon the Duke of the Northern Territory, who was retreating southward under the protection of countless Extraordinary Soldiers. He immediately sent a private message to Su Mumu, who was busy killing Gulad Soldiers nearby:
"Twelve o'clock your position. The Duke of the Northern Territory is on the run. He's surrounded by a ton of high-ranking Extraordinary Soldiers. They're all worth a huge amount of points. Take them down, and fast."
Su Mumu found a moment to reply:
"Got it."
"I've been keeping an eye on him."
"He's not getting away."
With that, Su Mumu pressed forward, charging violently in the direction of the fleeing Duke. Along the way, she effortlessly cut down any nearby Gulad Soldiers who had not yet surrendered.
The Northern Territory soldiers who chose to surrender had special white names floating above their heads, their weapons and shields already discarded on the ground.
These clear markers meant Su Mumu didn't have to worry about friendly fire on these future allies—both Native Soldiers and Divine Chosen Soldiers alike. She could go all out in pursuit of her ultimate target.
However, while the Duke of the Northern Territory had little skill in waging war, his talent for running away was masterfully honed.
Relying on layer after layer of suicidal cover from his Extraordinary and ordinary soldiers, he actually managed to break through the main encirclement of Extraordinary Level Undead Soldiers. He fled madly toward the edge of the Land of Corruption at an astonishing speed.
Qin Feng's voice came through the private chat, carrying a note of caution:
"Mumu."
"You need to hurry."
"That guy's escape speed is no joke."
"Once he gets outside the range of the Land of Corruption, you won't have the Extraordinary Level Undead Soldiers to tie him down. It'll be much harder for you to claim the points for his head on your own."
The Duke of the Northern Territory was himself an Extraordinary Level Epic Hero, and his Imperial Guard was composed entirely of high-level Extraordinary Heroes and soldiers.
Not only was every one of them equipped with gold-quality, Hero Level gear, but they were also enhanced by extremely powerful Equipment Traits. Their overall combat strength was not to be underestimated.
Qin Feng had previously tried to have his Extraordinary Dragon Cavalry strike directly at the heart of the enemy, attempting to one-shot the Duke who led the entire Northern Territory army.
But after they actually engaged, he discovered that although the enemy couldn't touch the Dragon Cavalry in the air, they also couldn't one-shot the Dragon Riders who used One-Strike Evasion tactics to land and attack.
But unless the Dragon Cavalry first cleared out the Extraordinary Imperial Guard, they couldn't even lay a scratch on the Duke, who was protected by an impenetrable, layered defense, nor could they touch the other high-ranking Extraordinary Heroes.
Therefore, Qin Feng's biggest worry at this moment was that if Su Mumu failed to take down this group in time with the help of the Extraordinary Level Undead Soldiers, he was afraid they would lose out on a massive amount of event points.
Hearing this, Su Mumu looked into the distance. The Duke of the Northern Territory was fleeing frantically on a Demon Beast warhorse, followed closely by a group of Extraordinary Soldiers and Heroes also mounted on Demon Beast warhorses. Their hooves thundered against the ground—THUD THUD THUD—kicking up billowing clouds of dust.
The Extraordinary Level Undead Soldiers whose defensive line they had broken were instantly swallowed by the swirling grey dust, left to watch helplessly as the determined escapees grew ever more distant, completely unable to give chase.
"I told you."
"He's not getting away."
"Why don't you trust the promise of a conscientious merchant, Qin Feng?"
As she spoke, Su Mumu abruptly raised her left hand amidst the chaotic battlefield, her index finger locking precisely onto the fleeing Duke of the Northern Territory.
The next second, a brilliant, dazzling golden light erupted from her body. It shone like a miniature sun at the front of the battle line, instantly capturing the attention of everyone on the battlefield.
"This is...!?"
"This is...!?"
"The Great Wilderness Heaven-Caging Finger!?"
