Chapter 229 - 7: Top-tier Powerhouse of the Mutual Kill Era (Part 2)
Chapter 229 - 7: Top-tier Powerhouse of the Mutual Kill Era (Part 2)
’But she knew in her heart that there was no way she could take so many fatal, Extraordinary-Level attacks head-on and still walk around a dangerous battlefield as if nothing had happened, much less maintain the terrifying combat power of her peak form.’
’Once severely injured, the bone-deep fatigue, the tearing pain, and the subsequent muddled thoughts and distorted movements... each of these conditions would be like heavy shackles, firmly binding her body and will, causing her combat effectiveness to plummet.’
At that point, forget about continuing to fight.
’Just struggling to stay conscious and fend off the enemy’s relentless attacks would be an almost insurmountable task.’
Of course, if Amilia had truly fought with all her might, she would never have been in such a predicament. She wouldn’t have been like Qin Feng, who was forced to endure the Assassins’ attacks only because he was fighting one-handed while also being distracted with keeping her safe.
As for the impressively powerful Dive Strike from the Dragon Rider Commander-in-Chief Kuge, to her, who was also a "Dragon Knight," it was merely a common move that she could easily dodge.
So, in short, Amilia would only be at a combat disadvantage if she were in the exact same circumstances as Qin Feng.
It didn’t mean she would be as easily and severely injured as he had been.
If she had been the one facing those Evil God’s Assassins and Dragon Rider Commander-in-Chief Kuge, she would have undoubtedly emerged completely unscathed, having one-shot her opponents with clean precision.
And the reason Nesia had called Amilia and the Flame Emperor Galukasa "absolute powerhouses capable of fighting many alone" stemmed precisely from this formidable combat ability to one-shot enemies without taking any damage.
In this Extraordinary Era of frequent "mutual kills," the truly crucial factor wasn’t the strength of one’s damage output, but rather the ability to survive and dodge in combat.
After all, you can only deal damage if you’re alive.
Only those who haven’t died have the right to secure the kill.
And so on and so forth.
These were all well-worn truths...
Why were Heavy Armor, Flying, Magic, and Mechanic Soldier Types able to far surpass Cavalry and conventional ground units, securely occupying the T0 throne among all Soldier Types in the Extraordinary Era?
The answer lay in this very principle.
Heavy Armor Soldier Types possessed top-tier survivability. Even when tanking a siege from several same-level enemies, they could still pull off a comeback kill, trading one-for-one, or even one-for-two or one-for-three, in a desperate situation.
Flying Soldier Types, on the other hand, could leverage their unparalleled dodging skills and the tactical advantage of "One-Strike Evasion" to wipe out enemies lacking ranged capabilities without taking any damage.
Even against enemies with Ranged Attacks, if the opponent lacked sufficiently precise predictive abilities and their projectile speeds were too slow, it was difficult to pose a substantial threat to the agile Flying Soldier Types.
Mages were a prime example of this.
Their large-scale Range Magic often had height restrictions, while their single-target and small-area-of-effect spells didn’t have particularly fast projectile speeds.
If a Mage couldn’t accurately predict a Flying Soldier Type’s movement trajectory and landing point, these "sluggish" spells had no chance of hitting their target’s body.
The final outcome would be getting instantly killed by a Dragon Cavalry’s Dive Strike.
As for Magic Soldier Types.
Their survivability was actually quite poor.
But their individual damage output was so terrifying that, if left uncontested, they could single-handedly wipe out an entire Extraordinary Legion.
To put things in perspective, other Extraordinary Soldier Types, no matter how powerful, could at most one-shot seven or eight people at a time.
Even Qin Feng, with his heaven-defying damage output, could currently only rely on his Arrow Rain Skills to instantly slay a dozen or so people; it was difficult for him to achieve any further breakthrough.
Therefore, it was this simple, brutal, and ultimate beauty of crushing opponents with sheer numbers that granted Magic Soldier Types their unique, transcendent status, like that of the Three-Body People.
It allowed them to ignore survivability, the most prized attribute in the "Mutual Kill Era."
And to firmly occupy the throne of T0 Soldier Types.
Finally, Mechanic Soldier Types were a special case.
For example, there was the infinitely stackable "Plague Power" mastered by Diablo.
There was the infinitely stackable "Wound Bleeding" effect that the Desert Demon Wolf Army was proficient in.
And there was the "Magic Control Flow" that the Lust Players and their Lust Legion excelled at, among others.
Their survivability varied greatly, as did their strengths and weaknesses, but their unique special mechanics gave them the formidable ability to punch above their weight, and even crush specific types of targets.
Unless they were precisely countered by specific items, equipment, potions, or skills, their combat power was practically Invincible.
Putting other examples aside, take the "Plague Power" toxin mastered by Diablo.
Without Poison Resistance equipment and potions to counter it, and when paired with a group of Elf Race archers who never missed, even Qin Feng himself would meet a tragic end, instantly killed by thousands of Poison Arrows.
Therefore, their firm position on the throne of T0 Soldier Types was by no means a fluke.
It was a well-deserved honor forged by their strength.
"I..."
"Let me think about it for a few more days..."
In the end, faced with Qin Feng’s tempting offer, combined with the powerful charisma that shone through his calm confidence, Amilia’s resolve was finally shaken.
She decided to observe for a few more days.
Her first priority was to figure out what kind of leader this "Holy Empire Emperor" was and whether he would bring disaster upon the innocent people of the Gulad Empire.
If Qin Feng was truly a great Lord who could win the hearts and support of the people, then Amilia, who had always been passionate about "world peace," wouldn’t mind lending him a hand to help him become the world’s rightful Heaven’s Chosen Ruler.
After all, her reasoning was actually quite simple.
’The root cause of why peace was so difficult to achieve in this world was that there were simply too many people wanting to have their say.’
’There had to be a sufficiently powerful being to become the sole King of all races and nations, one who wielded absolute and unquestionable authority. Only then could these endless conflicts be brought to an end, allowing all creatures of different races to coexist harmoniously in a state of "equality."’
Originally, Amilia’s chosen candidate for Heaven’s Chosen Ruler had been her own brother, the Flame Emperor Galukasa.
He already possessed uniquely powerful combat abilities.
Although the two siblings always had some disagreements on the concepts of "world peace" and "equality for all"...
...Amilia had always firmly believed that, by staying at Galukasa’s side, she could slowly influence his thoughts and actions, guiding him to become an enlightened monarch beloved by all living beings.
He would ultimately unify this entire worldly Plane.
And protect everyone from the ravages of war.
However, Qin Feng’s sudden appearance had caused her once-firm decision to waver.
This was especially true when she compared the actions of the two men.
The former had won the heartfelt loyalty and approval of all the Forest Sub-humans, completely integrating and unifying the once-divided and chaotic Forest Tribes to establish a powerful new nation: the Holy Empire.
The latter, however, while the Chaos of the Evil Gods had yet to be eradicated, had hastily raised the blade of invasion against other nations that were also fighting the Evil Gods. This had turned the Gulad Empire into an evil power, despised by the world for preying on others in their time of crisis.
So, if she had to choose someone to be the Heaven’s Chosen Ruler...
...she would much rather it be Tingfeng, who stood before her now.
...than her own brother.
Meanwhile, faced with Amilia’s indecisiveness, Qin Feng was not impatient for success, nor did he pressure her to make an immediate choice.
He simply treated her with the courtesy due to a guest, allowing her to move freely within the territory of the Holy Empire. This also gave her a chance to see for herself what kind of lives the Forest Sub-humans who had sworn allegiance to him were now leading.
As it turned out, Qin Feng’s understanding of Amilia’s mindset was incredibly accurate.
When the Loli Princess witnessed with her own eyes the thriving prosperity of the various Forest Sub-human Tribes in the Northern Forest, and saw the capital city of Shurima being built through everyone’s united efforts, her heart was instantly stirred, and her opinion of Qin Feng skyrocketed.
This was especially true of the Gulad Soldiers who had chosen to surrender to the Holy Empire. Not only were they not shunned or berated by their former enemies, but they also instantly integrated into the community of Forest Sub-humans, becoming comrades-in-arms who could work side-by-side, all thanks to their shared faith in the greatness and power of "Emperor Tingfeng."
This left Amilia utterly astonished.
Even though she could clearly sense Lord Qin Feng’s "Divine Power" subtly influencing everything behind the scenes, she felt no aversion whatsoever.
In fact, she felt that someone with such a powerful ability was even more qualified to bring true peace to the entire world and make all warfare disappear completely.
「Not long after.」
And so, Amilia formally expressed her intention to swear allegiance to Qin Feng.
And thus, she became the second Heroic Unit under Qin Feng’s command to have "unique recruitment conditions."
