Chapter 242: ...I Didn’t Prepare This
Chapter 242: ...I Didn’t Prepare This
Months ago, he had already looked into all of Xu Su’s relationships from her past two-plus years at school. He couldn’t stand the thought of her vying for another man’s attention, and it bothered him immensely, even when she was just passively involved.
"It really wasn’t you?" Xu Su slowly let out a breath of relief. She squeezed Zhou Mochen’s hand, still a bit shaken. "It’s just that the timing was too much of a coincidence. Her family ran into trouble not long after you saw Gu Yunjia."
Gu Yunjia had formed a clique at school to target her before. If Zhou Mochen found out about it, he was more than capable of casually teaching her family a lesson.
As he would put it: ’All it takes is a single word...’
"Countless men get caught cheating by their wives every day. Does her family’s misfortune automatically mean I was behind it? Susu, don’t make me out to be some kind of monster."
Zhou Mochen sounded a little hurt. "Just because I dealt with Sun Yu and that President Zhao, you now suspect me first whenever something happens to anyone around you?"
"...I’m sorry." Hearing him accuse her like that, Xu Su felt a pang of guilt.
Setting aside Sun Yu—that was so long ago she could barely remember—President Zhao, at least, had completely brought his current fate upon himself.
Her suspicion of Zhou Mochen had been sparked by the reactions of her classmates.
"Alright, just try not to wrongly accuse me in the future, and don’t give me the cold shoulder over every little thing." There was no way Zhou Mochen could stay truly angry with Xu Su. "Come on, let’s go eat."
The heating in the room was strong, and Xu Su belatedly realized she was feeling a bit hot. She unwrapped her scarf and took off her thick coat, revealing a loose-fitting, light-colored V-neck sweater underneath. Rolling the sleeves up to her elbows, she finally felt less bulky.
She blinked at Zhou Mochen, her face breaking into a smile. Tugging on the corner of his shirt, she stood on her tiptoes and gave his chin a little kiss. "No, you can’t forgive me that easily. You have to let me apologize properly."
Though she spoke of apologizing, her tone was playfully imperious...
Zhou Mochen’s eyes narrowed slightly, her face reflected in his dark pupils. His voice was low and dangerous. "And how do you plan to apologize?"
Xu Su smiled and leaned closer. "You can’t move."
"Okay."
Xu Su absolutely adored the helpless look he got when dealing with her. Wrapping her arms around Zhou Mochen’s neck, she rose onto her toes and pressed her lips to his.
’She would never admit that she was the one who wanted to kiss him...’
After pressing her lips against his, Xu Su gave him a couple of quick pecks. Worried he might launch a counterattack, she glanced up, her eyes meeting a pair of dark, smoldering ones.
"...You’re not supposed to move," she warned again.
"Mm, not moving."
The deep, magnetic voice sent a tingle down Xu Su’s spine.
’I want to kiss him...’
Her hands around his neck tightened slightly, and Zhou Mochen cooperatively bent his head even lower.
Xu Su lowered her gaze, concentrating on tracing the outline of his lips, nibbling and sucking gently. Their breaths tangled together, and soon, one of them began to breathe more heavily—it was impossible to tell who started it.
A hand tightened on her waist...
"..Mmph."
Her lips were pried open as Zhou Mochen’s essence flooded in, domineering and tempestuous.
Xu Su shot him an angry glare, but his hand held the back of her head firmly in place. Any words of protest were swallowed by his kiss. She was powerless to resist, able to manage only a few broken whimpers that sounded like moans.
The arms wrapped around his neck gradually lost their strength, and her legs grew weak. She only remained standing because Zhou Mochen’s arm was firmly around her waist...
Just as she felt the last of her oxygen being stolen away, on the verge of fainting, he finally took pity on her and relented. His scorching lips moved to her ear, nuzzling it gently. "Susu, remember to breathe."
"..." Xu Su finally managed to gasp for air, only to hear those words. She punched him in frustration. "You think I didn’t *want* to breathe? Zhou Mochen, were you trying to eat me alive?"
’He kissed like a wild animal, too fierce to allow his prey any chance of resistance. There was no room for her to breathe...’
Zhou Mochen let out a low chuckle. "My fault. But I really do want to eat you up. Will you let me?"
"No!" Xu Su pushed him away angrily. "We had a deal that you wouldn’t move! You promised!"
"I waited forever while you just tempted me on the surface. Were you trying to apologize or torture me?" Zhou Mochen reached out to caress her lips and sighed in resignation. "Susu, that’s not how you really kiss someone. You were trying to drive me wild with longing..."
’Drive him wild with longing...’
Xu Su had thought her skin had grown pretty thick, but his blunt words still made her ears burn.
Her eyes widened as she wracked her brain for a comeback. Suddenly, a familiar ache bloomed in her abdomen, followed by a slow, warm gush.
The color drained from Xu Su’s face. Clutching her stomach, she headed for the bedroom.
She had moved in back in July, and now it was almost January. Xu Su hadn’t had her period a single time since then; she’d almost forgotten it was a thing...
’Did a kiss from Zhou Mochen actually just kiss my period into starting?’
Her expression made Zhou Mochen frown slightly. "What’s wrong? Stomachache?"
"Don’t follow me. Are you going to follow me into the bathroom?" Xu Su shot him a look over her shoulder, her expression complex.
She went into the bathroom and shut the door, leaving a stunned Zhou Mochen outside.
A moment later, the door opened, and Xu Su peeked out. Looking a little pale, she beckoned to her boyfriend. "Can you help me with something?"
Zhou Mochen looked down at her. "Where does it hurt?"
"I got my period. Do you... have any pads here?" Xu Su asked, stammering in embarrassment. "If not, you’ll have to go buy some for me."
"...I don’t have any." Clearly, this was his first time dealing with such a request. For a rare moment, Zhou Mochen was flustered before he replied, "I’ll go buy them. What kind do you need?"
Xu Su raised an eyebrow. ’Is he blushing?’
’He is, isn’t he?’
Xu Su, who had been embarrassed just a moment before, became perfectly composed upon seeing Zhou Mochen’s unease. "Cotton. I need both day and night use. Any brand is fine."
Zhou Mochen nodded. "Wait here."
Xu Su had expected it to take a while, but he returned in a little over ten minutes.
When she came out, all sorted, Zhou Mochen was still leaning against the bathroom door. The pain was getting bad. As she headed to the dining room, she gave him an irritable look. "Go on and eat. You’re not scared to eat without me, are you?"
After all the commotion, it was a good thing the glass turntable on the dining table had a warming function, or else all the food would have gone cold.
Xu Su had lost her appetite. Normally capable of eating two heaping bowls of rice, she forced down half a bowl and drank a bowl of old duck soup before setting down her chopsticks.
Watching her face grow visibly paler, Zhou Mochen’s brow furrowed tightly. "Are all girls like this when... this happens?"
"...More or less. It’s normal," Xu Su said, a little guiltily. She was lying on the sofa with her head in Zhou Mochen’s lap, clutching a hot water bottle.
She had planned on rushing back to school after the meal, but now she had no strength. ’It’s too cold outside anyway,’ she thought. ’I’ll just rest for a bit.’
"Is getting your period once in five months also normal? Don’t deny it. You’re in so much pain—if this had happened before, there’s no way I wouldn’t have known." Zhou Mochen stroked her long hair and turned her head to meet his gaze. "Susu, it’s not good to hide an illness and avoid seeing a doctor."
