Chapter 1421: Set Up
Chapter 1421: Set Up
"Ssshhh...!"
Countless willow branches thrashed wildly, like a horde of demons dancing in chaos.
Qin Yi chopped off a few branches, but to his surprise those branches could actually extend. Their speed didn’t drop at all as they turned into streaks of cold light and shot toward him again.
Qin Yi frowned and formed a seal with one hand.
Wind Blade.
A fierce gale rose up, transforming into Wind Blades.
The branches that shot over were shredded into dust by the Wind Blades before they could even get close to Qin Yi.
However, Qin Yi still underestimated the length of these branches. The parts he had cut off and ground into dust already added up to at least ten meters, yet the branches kept extending, like several green rays tearing through the air and lunging straight at Qin Yi.
"Still not done yet, huh."
The Wind Blades didn’t dissipate, and the ten-plus-meter-long branches were once again ground into dust.
However, Qin Yi’s actions seemed to have enraged the Elf Divine Tree. Hundreds of branches moved all at once, turning into a sky full of green cold light, tinged with scarlet, pouring toward Qin Yi like a torrential storm.
Qin Yi originally wanted to directly grind these branches to pieces, but he was afraid of injuring the Elf Divine Tree, so he simply flipped back out of the way.
"Boom, boom...!"
Hundreds of branches smashed into the nearby cliff face, actually blasting that entire section apart. The deafening rumble echoed in all directions, slamming into the Boundary Barrier of the Heaven-grade Great Array, reverberating throughout the entire Elf Clan and lingering for a long time.
Qin Yi retreated several hundred meters, and only then did those branches quiet down.
Qin Yi spoke via Divine Thought to the Elf Divine Tree: "How are you?"
However, there was no response.
Qin Yi slowly stepped forward, but when he was still more than ten meters from the Elf Divine Tree, hundreds of branches suddenly condensed into one, like a berserk giant python, crashing toward Qin Yi.
Seeing this, Qin Yi’s fingers became a knife as he slashed through the air, a streak of Purple Light shooting out.
However, the Purple Light did not cut the branches apart, which greatly surprised Qin Yi. The toughness of these branches gathered together was extraordinary.
Qin Yi’s body flickered and he could only shoot backward, putting distance between himself and the Elf Divine Tree.
"Elf Divine Tree, is there anything I can help you with?" Qin Yi sent via Divine Thought.
However, the Elf Divine Tree still didn’t respond.
Qin Yi stared at the massive trunk of the Elf Divine Tree, where green and red radiance intertwined, his gaze flickering slightly. By rights, the Elf Divine Tree had absorbed the Spiritual Energy of the Holy Spring, developed intelligence through Cultivation, and protected the Elves. It shouldn’t be this bloodthirsty.
But looking at the dried corpses hanging from its branches, combined with what the Elf Divine Tree had said earlier, it clearly meant the Elf Divine Tree had a problem.
And the source of the problem was most likely related to this pervasive scarlet blood Qi.
Just as Qin Yi was contemplating, the sound of air being torn suddenly rang out.
He turned around and saw the sky densely packed with several hundred members of the Elf Clan flying over, covering the heavens and earth in quite a grand display.
Qin Yi’s expression changed slightly. If the Elf Clan saw him here, it would very likely cause a misunderstanding. After all, this was the Holy Land of the Elf Clan; they would think he had come to steal the Holy Spring.
"Qin Yi, you really do harbor evil intentions and wicked designs."
Qin Yi was just about to hide when someone preemptively slapped a hat on his head.
The voice was very familiar—it was Zi Lan’s.
Qin Yi’s face instantly turned ugly. He’d been played, set up by Zi Lan.
Zi Lan was quite far from him, and he was standing in an extremely hidden spot. With Zi Lan’s Cultivation, there was no way she could see him clearly from so far away, yet she called out his name in one go. Clearly this had been planned long ago.
Qin Yi’s eyes flickered; he understood. Zi Lan had brought him here today, mysteriously telling him this was the Holy Land of the Elf Clan, stirring up his curiosity. Her goal had been to frame him.
Damn it, this woman must have investigated his personality, knew he was very curious, and laid this trap targeting that trait. This woman was really vicious.
The Elf Clan quickly drew close, sealing off both the ground and the sky, preventing Qin Yi from escaping.
Granny Hua stepped out from the crowd, staring coldly at Qin Yi. "Out of my trust in you, I let you stay in the Elf Clan. I never expected you to harbor a wolf’s ambition and attempt to steal the Holy Spring of our Elf Clan."
Qin Yi looked at her indifferently. "If I say this is a misunderstanding, would you believe it?"
Granny Hua sneered. "You appear in the Holy Land of my Elf Clan in the middle of the night and still dare call it a misunderstanding? I said it from the start: humans are greedy, insidious, and cunning, not worthy of trust."
"Hua Chen, open your eyes and take a good look. This is the person you chose to trust."
Hua Chen looked at Qin Yi. "Young Master Qin, I’m grateful that you saved my daughter. I also believe in your character. Hurry and explain to everyone why you appeared here."
Just then, a few more figures flew over—it was Yun Mengyao and the others.
"What’s going on?" Yun Mengyao saw Qin Yi locked in a standoff with the Elf Clan and frowned as she asked.
Granny Hua said angrily, "Men, they’re in on it together. Surround them—don’t let a single one slip away."
Jin Wen led dozens of Elf Generals and quickly surrounded Yun Mengyao and the others.
"Hua Nian, Little Leaf, hurry and come over to me," Jin Wen said anxiously. Because Hua Nian and Little Leaf were still with Yun Mengyao and the others, if they were taken hostage it would be troublesome.
Hua Nian said anxiously, "Brother Jin Wen, what on earth happened? Why are you surrounding Brother Qin and Sister Yun?"
Jin Wen was so anxious he broke out in a cold sweat. "Qin Yi trespassed into the Holy Land and tried to steal the water of the Holy Spring. We caught him on the spot."
"That’s impossible. Brother Qin isn’t that kind of person." Hua Nian didn’t believe it at all. She had been with Qin Yi these days and understood what he was like.
Yun Mengyao looked at Qin Yi and muttered, "So this guy came here in the dead of night to steal Holy Spring water. I thought this big scene was because he got caught cheating with that bad woman."
Jing Wuyan and Xiaoxi were both speechless. Wasn’t her focus a bit off?
Yin Qianqian lazily yawned. "You make such a big fuss over this little crap? Setting aside whether it’s true or not, it’s just some damn spring water. Even if Qin Yi really took some, what’s the big deal? Is it worth disturbing your auntie’s beauty sleep?"
"Insolent! As expected, you’re all cut from the same cloth. Trespassing in the Holy Land of my Elf Clan and stealing the spring water is a grave crime. It seems you don’t yet understand how serious this is. But that’s fine—once we take you down, we’ll slowly explain it to you." Granny Hua said angrily.
"Take us down?" Yin Qianqian sneered disdainfully, then looked at Qin Yi. "Kid, should we make a move? Just give a nod—no need for you to lift a finger. Your auntie alone can turn the entire Elf Clan upside down."
Qin Yi shook his head. "Don’t start a fight."
Yin Qianqian shrugged lazily. "Whatever. I said you were dead-set on coming to the Elf Clan, and sure enough, you were eyeing the Holy Spring. I knew it—given your ’no profit, no early rise’ personality, without some benefit, how could you possibly swallow your pride?"
"But you’re pretty useless too—stealing a bit of spring water and you still got caught. But it’s fine, getting caught is getting caught. Don’t they treasure this crappy spring water so much? In a bit, your auntie’s gonna take a bath in it. From now on they can all drink your auntie’s bath water."
