Chapter 1215 - 42: Struggle for Inheritance

Yun Sheng’s question reminded Hua Yanluo.

"Also, you two listen clearly. Although all three of us are participating in this contest, there’s a certain person who’s just filling in the numbers. Once the results are out, don’t even think about learning the Sky Fox Inheritance if you didn’t contribute," Hua Yanluo wasn’t so foolish as to be beyond help.

She glanced at Yun Sheng, clearly indicating that her words were directed at him.

Beside them, Qin Yue saw Hua Yanluo’s decision and a flicker of delight flashed in her eyes.

Hua Yanluo really fell for it.

Losing this time would merely mean a bit of embarrassment and a few nights in an ordinary room for Qin Yue. But winning might earn her Liu Xueyu’s Sky Fox Inheritance.

For Qin Yue, who knew nothing of the Sky Fox Inheritance, it was like losing a sesame seed and picking up a watermelon—a fantastic deal.

Even if she couldn’t claim the title of Heavenly Fox Saintess in this selection, acquiring the Sky Fox Inheritance alone would boost her status in her family upon returning to Cangdu.

The ulterior motives of Qin Yue and Hua Yanluo were all seen by Yun Sheng.

Yun Sheng shrugged, thinking to himself, let these women fight amongst themselves for now, he’d just stand aside and watch.

"So, after all this discussion, are you two going to agree or not? Or do you mean that nobody in your ragtag team possesses a Sky Fox Inheritance?" Liu Xueyu’s group laughed uproariously again.

Their mocking laughter made Hua Yanluo and Qin Yue even more furious.

"Who says we don’t? I’ll wager the Hua Family’s Sky Fox Inheritance. The winning side not only gets those rooms but also the other’s Sky Fox Inheritance," Hua Yanluo wasn’t one to back down.

To be fair, they each asked for pen and paper and wrote down their inheritances, handing them over to the innkeeper.

The innkeeper ordered someone to bring two boxes and locked each Sky Fox Inheritance inside them.

"Ladies, the stakes are set. You may begin the competition," the innkeeper maintained a composed demeanor despite the matter involving the Sky Fox Inheritance.

He signaled to a waiter next to him, and the waiter quietly slipped into the crowd and ran out of the inn.

Soon, the order of contests was arranged. On the Cangdu side, the sequence was Hua Yanluo, Qin Yue, and Yun Sheng.

For the Fengdu side, the order of the candidate saintesses was Chen Qi, Lu Yunshuang, and Liu Xueyu.

Upon hearing the match order, Hua Yanluo and Qin Yue both appeared visibly pleased.

On the other hand, Liu Xueyu and her group seemed unfazed, as if accustomed to such preliminary arrangements.

Liu Xueyu was actually last to show, clearly marking her as the strongest from a power perspective.

Despite Hua Yanluo’s tough talk, she had no desire to face Liu Xueyu directly.

As for Qin Yue, that goes without saying.

With this arrangement, Liu Xueyu would go last, facing the worthless Yun Sheng.

Facing Liu Xueyu meant there was clearly no chance of winning for Yun Sheng; it was a guaranteed loss.

All Hua Yanluo and Qin Yue had to do was win the first two matches. For the third match, whether that loser wins or loses, even if they die, it has nothing to do with them.

In the courtyard, a simple stage for organizing banquets and outdoor theater performances had been temporarily set up.

"First match, Hua Yanluo versus Chen Qi."

Hua Yanluo lightly tapped the ground with her foot, and, like a flash of surprise, alighted on the stage. Her youthful vitality, billowing red dress made her quite a sight.

From Fengdu, Chen Qi mirrored Hua Yanluo’s move, standing on the stage. She too was a martial artist, and in terms of appearance, she was quite equally matched with Hua Yanluo.

Boom boom—

Before Chen Qi, a misty, icy white fighting spirit began to gather.

Hua Yanluo stepped forward, and a red gleam flashed from her sleeve.

It was a short sword—the same one Hua Yanluo used earlier when ambushing the Thunder Demon Hermit.

An ominous aura emanated from the short sword; it was a Holy-grade Magic Artifact.

As the short sword swished out, the intense dagger light transformed into several beams, attacking Chen Qi from extremely tricky angles.

Seeing this formidable short sword, Chen Qi dared not take it head-on.

She darted behind Hua Yanluo, her fighting spirit splitting into three, forming three daggers.

As the daggers flashed past, ding ding ding, they clashed thrice, deflecting Hua Yanluo’s short sword.

The force of the daggers made Hua Yanluo’s grip ache. She twisted her wrist, thrusting the short sword forward; the sword technique wasn’t that intricate, but when combined with Hua Yanluo’s fighting spirit,

the sword radiance multiplied, creating a snowy illusion that confused Chen Qi, forcing her to retreat several steps.

Chen Qi wasn’t one to underestimate either. With a flick of her finger,

the three daggers, as if having eyes, made a U-turn, bolting towards Hua Yanluo’s face.

The three dagger beams, extremely sharp and aimed at Hua Yanluo’s vital points, threatened to pierce her head if they hit.

Among the spectators, Qin Yue couldn’t help but gasp.

The innkeeper serving as the referee was already poised, robes billowing as if moved by an unseen force, obviously ready to intercept this deadly strike in case of emergencies.

But at that moment, fiery red fighting spirit blazed from Hua Yanluo’s form like Fiery Fire. Initially cornered with nowhere to back up, Hua Yanluo suddenly split into two identical figures.

"Sky Fox Inheritance, Fox Shadow Traceless," the Jiuluan Clan Patriarch commented nonchalantly by the window.

With the Sky Fox Inheritance revealed, the original Hua Yanluo twirled her short sword in a beautiful display, blocking the three daggers with several clangs.

Meanwhile, the newly appeared Hua Yanluo swung her sleeve, with ferocious fighting spirit attacking the unguarded Chen Qi.

Bang—

Chen Qi groaned, struck off the stage and falling to the ground.

"The result is decided, you lost the first match," Hua Yanluo retracted her fighting spirit, her pretty face full of stern killing intent.

Though victorious, winning hadn’t been easy; she had to rely on the Sky Fox Inheritance and a Holy-grade Magic Artifact to defeat Chen Qi.

But a win is a win; a good start meant only one more victory was needed in the remaining two matches.

Amidst envious gazes, Hua Yanluo strutted off the stage like a peacock displaying its tail.

On the Fengdu side, despite losing the first match, Liu Xueyu seemed unconcerned. She simply examined Chen Qi’s wounds, whispered a few words to another Heavenly Fox Candidate Saintess, and remained composed.

Qin Yue glanced over at their lineup. Her opponent in the second match was the Heavenly Fox Candidate Saintess named Lu Yunshuang.
