Chapter 347
Chapter 347
<~> Chapter 347Corrine, Morrigan, Torien, and I all sat around a table in the park with a collection of sandwiches and soup from the small restaurant that was popular among the people going to the magic school.
"This feels a little strange," Corrine admitted before taking a bite of her sandwich.
Torien nodded, "Having lunch with three of your daughter's lovers without her."
Corrine froze up and looked at Torien. "A-all three of you?"
Morrigan laughed and smacked her sister on the shoulder. "Way to stick your foot in your mouth."
"You do it all the time," Torien sniped back.
"That's why I think it's so funny that you did it this time!" Morrigan teased.
Corrine set down her sandwich. "I just meant eating lunch in a park where it's safe, I didn't know that all three of you were my daughter's... lovers."
Torien sighed. "I'm sorry. I guess I thought you knew."
There was an awkward pause before Corrine spoke again. "Is she happy? With all of you? It's not really the kind of relationship I expected for her. I didn't expect any of this, really. Not even my own... lack of involvement in her life."
"I think she's happy," I said confidently. "She's a lot more confident now than she used to be. Her transformation caught us both off guard at first, but she was so happy when it happened."
Corrine furrowed her brow. "Caught you off guard? How?"
I nodded. "Right, you wouldn't know. Bella was the first person to transform into a succubus. I met her when I just arrived here and freed her from slavery before we got together. She was the first of our group relationship," I said, gesturing to the other two at the table.
Corrine slowly nodded. "So, if we're comparing things to the prophecy, she would be the first of your 'wives,' if we take some of that literally."
I shrugged. "I suppose so, though I haven't had the opportunity to wed any of them yet. We might have returned to Goldenhearth together to have a wedding at Morkinnen's church, but system's end happened, and we've been... preoccupied. Bella's pregnancy progressed faster than we expected, and now we're a little afraid to travel with her in this state."
"I'm also more of a recent addition to the relationship as well... I was hesitant to become attached to the same woman as my sister," Torien said.
Corrine's lips drew into a line. "I... can understand why that would be a hard thing to admit."
"The two of us don't do anything together, so don't get it wrong... but both of us love Lilith... and I'm used to sharing everything with my sister, so why not something like this too?" Torien said awkwardly.
"It's not my place to judge your race's cultural... difference of opinion on particular taboos. Though I do worry about Belladonna in this situation. Are all of you... happy
with this kind of relationship?" Corrine asked.Morrigan nodded. "I've spoken with Bella about it in the past. She hadn't originally accepted it out of a desire to share, but because of some of our race's characteristics. Our race feeds on lust mana, and we're able to stave off our hunger longer the more partners we have, so it was originally a pragmatic decision. That being said, Bella and I have grown close ourselves, and I would say that I love her just as much as I love Lilith, and she feels the same. Our relationship isn't all centered around Lilith, though I understand how it must look. All of us are in a relationship with each other, and that means that all of us love and care for each other."
"Are you sure she feels the same?" Corrine asked.
Morrigan smiled. "I'm sure. All of the succubi have a bond that lets us share each other's emotions. I can feel her love for me as clearly as I can feel my love for her. All five of us, me, Lilith, Torien, Bella, and Mimi, all love each other dearly. As much as any lovers could. I'll be the first to admit that it's a little strange, but all of us are happy."
Corrine sighed and picked up her sandwich again. "That must be nice. I haven't been able to let someone get close to me since I left my husband... It's hard for me to trust anyone like that anymore."
"You should try going to the Sleeping Lion," Torien suggested.
Corrine turned to Torien with a look of irritation on her face. "A brothel? I'm not speaking of my base desires."
Torien held up her hands. "That's not what I meant... There are succubi there who are able to share our connection to the bond with others. Some of them specialize in... how do I put it..."
"Intimacy therapy?" I suggested.
Torien shrugged. "I suppose you could put it that way. Some of the former slaves that were released during Traehall's demon siege spoke to me about finding intimacy unpleasant after the abuse they suffered as slaves, and how spending time with some of the girls at the brothel helped them overcome it. It's not an easy thing to do, but the honesty that comes from connecting directly to the hearts of others can be reassuring for people who have trouble trusting others."
"I don't... I'm not..." Corrine looked annoyed.
I cleared my throat. "Don't worry about it. It was just a suggestion to keep in mind. If you don't want to do it, no one's forcing you."
Corrine forced herself to take a deep breath. "I'm just worried about Belladonna, is all. I was also wondering if... I would be able to see her. I had hoped that I would have been able to meet her by now, but no one has been able to help me get in contact with her."
I scratched the base of my horn awkwardly. "Well, word travels fast around here, and everyone knows that Bella isn't quite ready to see you yet. I'll talk to her again and see if she is willing to meet with you, but she's been pretty resistant the few times I've brought it up."
Corrine sighed. "I know that I wasn't there for her when she needed me, but I couldn't even take care of myself back then. I just wish she would give me another chance to build a relationship with her."
Morrigan reached over and took Corrine's hand. "I want her to give you another chance too. Trust me. I've already been trying to push her on it, but she's been pretty hesitant about being around you. I think she might want to wait until after she has her baby."
"I suppose she might not want to be vulnerable around me right now... It's odd to think I might be a grandmother soon," Corrine said.
Torien tapped the table. "I don't say this to make you feel worse, but you have to remember that leaving, even if you had no choice, greatly affected her life. She's talked to us about a fear of being abandoned by the people she loves, and your escape from her father led to her becoming enslaved in the first place. Bella was able to dodge the brunt of what that means because of Lilith, but our group have seen some of the worst examples of slavery in the kingdom. It's not hard for any of us to imagine what it might have been like to be abused as thoroughly as some of our friends had been."
"Our friend Kal'daeryn, the white tigerkin that was with us, had all four of her limbs removed so that she could be used without a struggle. How would you feel if that had been a potential outcome of your life?" Morrigan asked solemnly.
Corrine frowned, but nodded. "You're right. I should give her time and hope she'll come to me on her own. Please make sure she knows that I'll make time for her as soon as she's ready."
The rest of our lunch was eaten in relative quiet, and once she was finished, Corrine excused herself. She stopped at the edge of the park to collect herself before continuing on with her head held high. She had the veneer of confidence, but I wondered how self-confident she actually was.
"Do you think we went too far?" Morrigan asked after she was out of sight.
"No," Torien replied. "I think she should know what kind of life she may have subjected Bella to. I do feel bad for her, but Bella has every right to not want to see her."
Morrigan picked at the remains of her sandwich. "I just feel like bringing up Kal'daeryn may have been too much..."
Torien shrugged in response.
I sighed. "Ultimately, the choice will be up to Bella. I think it was probably for the best to bring that up. It's more likely to get her to back off rather than pushing to see her before Bella's ready for it."
"Maybe," Morrigan said sadly.
We ate quietly for a little longer, but I noticed a mischievous glint in Morrigan's eyes appear after a while.
"So I heard the reason that you weren't back last night was because the two of you spent the night at the bathhouse together," Morrigan teased.
Torien blushed and looked away. "We were dirty after our trip, so we thought it would be a good way to relax after a stressful mission."
"Did anything happen between the two of you last night?" Morrigan pushed.
"What are you talking about?" Torien asked flatly. Her tone didn't match how red her face was, and it clearly only made Morrigan want to tease her even more.
Morrigan grinned. "One of the girls told me that you went to a place that has something called the blue special. Which means the two of you had an intimate night alone."
Torien scoffed. "Fine. Yes, we spent some time alone. We have sex all the time. Why are you being so weird about it?"
"You told Lilith you love her, didn't you?" Morrigan asked with a wide grin.
"What, where did you hear that?" Torien asked, flustered.
"You never said it before. I want to know if you finally admitted it to her," Morrigan pressed.
"Why would you think that?" Torien looked down at the table as her blush redoubled.
"Call it sisterly intuition. So, did you?" Morrigan asked again.
"Okay, fine! Yes, I said it last night! Gods you're so insufferable sometimes." Torien crossed her arms and looked away from her. That may have been a bit of a mistake though, because it had her turned to face me, which made her blush for different reasons.
Morrigan cheered before wrapping Torien in a hug. "Yay! I'm so happy for you!"
Torien huffed. "It still feels weird."
"That's okay. I don't mind that we're weird. Just that we're all open to each other." Morrigan leaned forward and kissed Torien on the cheek.
"Gross," Torien said as she pushed her giggling sister away from her.
"So, how did it happen? I wanna know!" Morrigan said excitedly.
"I'm not telling you," Torien said with an uncharacteristic pout.
Morrigan turned to me with an excited look. "Lilith?"
I laughed. "I don't kiss and tell. I'm not going to tell you anything about it that Torien doesn't tell you first."
"Aww, you're no fun," Morrigan said, deflated.
"Can you imagine what her students would think, seeing her like this?" Torien asked.
Morrigan waved it off. "Eh, it would be fine. I'm allowed to be a little goofy. I'm the most respected teacher in the school. I'm sure half of the magic we've been able to recover wouldn't have been possible without my input. Not for a long while at least."
"There are perks to being an expert in the field," I said with a laugh.
"I wonder if your students think you're half as insufferable as I do," Torien joked.
"Nope! All of that is saved just for you! My favorite sister!"
I laughed. "Don't hear Lori hear you say that."
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Okay. Sorry to break it to you, but you're not my favorite sister anymore. You can't have one of those if you have more than one," Morrigan teased.
"The worst part is, I think that Lori is almost as insufferable as you are sometimes," Torien deadpanned.
"I'll take that as a compliment!" Morrigan said happily.
"It wasn't," Torien said in exasperation.
"Maybe you'll warm up to messing around in the bedroom if I toy with Lori first," Morrigan said with a sly grin.
"You can't be serious," Torien groaned.
"I don't know, maybe I am. It's not like any of us can get pregnant if we don't want to. Who knows how it all works for us anyway," Morrigan commented.
I kept my mouth shut. As much as it would be... stimulating to see the two girls interact in the bedroom, it was something I promised myself I wouldn't push. If it was going to happen, it would happen without me suggesting it. I think they knew that I was intentionally staying out of it too, because they never asked me to weigh in on it. I just wanted all of my lovers to be happy... but I wouldn't mind if Lori joined in...
