Liberation of The Slaves

Chapter 124 – Equipments

Chapter 124 – Equipments

A full month had passed since the dragon family visited our little home, and only now did the last of the preparations finally settle into place.

I stood in our bedroom with the morning light spilling across the wooden floor, staring at the neatly arranged equipment Len had been working on for days. The scent of leather, treated fur, and metal still lingered in the air. It felt strange, almost unreal, that the journey we kept talking about was no longer a plan but something we were about to do.

"So, you said it was made from the fur of Red Wolves, right?"

"Yes."

I let out a small breath and ran my fingers along the material, feeling how soft it was and how stubbornly tough the underlayer seemed to be. Nostalgia hit me hard enough to make my chest tighten.

"It sounds nostalgic. At that time, Aza and I thought we would die."

Back when I was still a slave, even two wolves had been enough to push me to the edge. I could still remember the snap of jaws, the stink of wet fur, the way my legs trembled as I tried to move while my body screamed at me to collapse. If Len had not appeared then, I would have been nothing but bones in the dirt.

And yet, she did appear.

She had filled every role my broken life needed. Teacher when I was ignorant. Friend when I was lonely. Mother and sister when I did not even know how to ask for warmth without feeling ashamed. Three years had passed since that day, and somewhere along the line, she had become the person I reached for without thinking.

Now she was my lover, and I still sometimes caught myself staring at her like I was afraid she would vanish if I blinked.

As if she guessed my thoughts, Len said,

"People in my previous world called it a thread of fate."

"Thread of fate?"

"Yes. No matter the distance or the time, if someone is truly meant for you, you will find each other again. It is similar to us. Despite four hundred years and different worlds, we have been reunited. That is proof that you are my chosen one. A thread of fate brought us together again."

She smiled gently as she spoke, and the softness on her face made my heart flutter in a way that still felt unfair.

"I see. A thread of fate, huh. Un, I like it."

When I started trying to put the equipment on, reality returned with a small struggle. I had worn armor before, but not like this. This was not borrowed gear thrown at a slave. This was something made with care, fitted with patience, and honestly, it made me nervous to touch it wrong.

I fumbled with the straps, and Len stepped behind me with a quiet laugh.

"Hold still."

Her fingers worked calmly at my shoulders, tugging and tightening and smoothing. Every touch was practiced, but still warm. I could feel her breath close to my neck as she adjusted the fit, and it made my ears heat up.

The pauldrons settled first, heavy and solid. The fire drake scales shimmered like dark crimson glass, and the sharp fangs set along the edges caught the light like pale knives. It looked dangerous. It looked proud.

Then came the armor itself, red wolf fur layered and shaped into something that looked refined rather than wild. The crimson color was deep and rich, and the patterning across the chest felt almost ceremonial, like I was wearing a story that Len had stitched into being.

The leggings followed, snug but flexible, and I could immediately tell they were designed so I could move without feeling trapped. Fire drake scales lined the seams, not just for decoration, but like reinforcement placed exactly where it mattered.

The cloak draped over my shoulders last, warm and luxurious, the weight of it settling like a promise. The fur brushed my neck, and the trimmed scales along the edges gave it a quiet, protective bite. Gloves and boots completed the set, mixing fur and scales so naturally that it looked like the two materials had always belonged together.

When Len finally stepped back, I faced the mirror and was stunned.

The person looking back at me did not look like someone who used to be a slave.

He looked like someone who belonged in this world.

"How does it feel? Do you like it?"

Len asked from behind me.

I shifted my shoulders and flexed my hands, half expecting something to pinch or scrape. Instead, everything moved with me like it had learned my body.

"It is truly fantasy equipment. I love it so much. Thank you, Len. I love you."

"Fufu. I am glad you love it."

My excitement pushed me into action before I could overthink it. I focused, summoned the familiar sensation of my skill, and used appraisal on each piece.

I blinked at the numbers, then blinked again like that would make them calmer.

"Wow. Leaving aside the minus water resistance, their effects and set effects are truly amazing."

All together, the set gave me five thousand strength, two thousand dexterity, and fifteen hundred agility. My magic resistance and mental resistance rose by two thousand, and my fire resistance shot up by ten thousand five hundred.

Then there was the price.

My water resistance sank by seven thousand five hundred.

Element resistance covered both the magical and mental side, but only for that specific element. With this gear on, my resistance to fire became absurdly high, backed by my general resistances too. But water was another story. My magic resistance for water was pitifully low, and my mental resistance for water was basically nothing.

It was terrifying and exhilarating at the same time.

"If dwarves crafted it, the effects could be magnified five to tenfold, you know?"

"Really?"

"Yes. These are fire drake scales and fangs. Fire drakes are A-rank monsters, so it would not be strange for dwarves to make equipment with ridiculous performance from those materials. If dwarves saw this, they would probably say it is a waste of good materials."

She chuckled like the idea amused her, while I stared at the armor like it might start arguing with her.

"But my affection for it lies not in its effects, but in the fact that you crafted it, sweetheart."

Len raised an eyebrow, eyes glittering with teasing confidence.

"Look at how smooth you are talking. I wonder how many women’s hearts you could capture with those words."

Only yours matters.

I kept that thought to myself, but the grin probably gave me away.

"How about your equipment, Len?"

"My equipment was made by dwarves. In total, it provides about forty thousand strength, twenty thousand agility, fifteen thousand dexterity, and thirty thousand magic resistance and mental resistance."

I swallowed.

That was insane. It was not even in the same world as mine.

"... Does that make you have the power of an S rank adventurer during your prime?"

"Tehee~"

"Haa… With such crazy equipment, I feel stupid for worrying about you."

Len only smiled, like she enjoyed both my concern and my surrender.

Then my gaze shifted to the sword waiting beside the rest of the gear, and the excitement returned immediately.

It was a one handed, double edged blade forged from fire drake scales and fangs, dark crimson like the armor, but with a sharper, more dangerous beauty. Intricate carvings ran along the hilt and part of the blade, scenes of fire and fury caught in metal. Even the scabbard looked like it belonged to the same tale, decorated to match.

I appraised it too.

Flamedawn Blade

The Flamedawn Blade glows with the fierce intensity of a rising sun, its fiery aura pulsating with untamed power. Crafted from the fangs and scales of a fire drake, this blade is a symbol of unstoppable fury and unyielding resolve. With each swing, it leaves trails of scorching heat in its wake, striking fear into the hearts of its adversaries and lighting up the darkness with its radiant glow.

Effect:

+5000 Magic Power

Slightly increase the control of aura and mana associated with fire elements

Flamedawn Sheath

The Flamedawn Sheath is a testament to both elegance and strength, crafted from the finest materials to protect the formidable Flamedawn Blade. Adorned with intricate patterns reminiscent of dancing flames, it exudes an air of mystique and power. Lined with enchanted runes to ward off any unwanted intrusions, it ensures the safety of the blade within while also serving as a striking accessory for its bearer.

Even the scabbard felt like it had been treated with care, though the true star was the blade itself. Five thousand magic power was not a small number, and the additional control over fire aura and mana made my mind immediately jump to what it meant for both hellfire and heavenfire.

"Flamedawn Blade. I love the name."

"Naturally. Though I may be bad at naming people, naming items is my forte."

She sounded so proud of herself that I almost laughed again.

I tested a few practice swings in the air, careful not to destroy our furniture.

Pom! Pii!

Len’s ears perked, and her lips curled into a pleased smile.

"Oh? Fufu. Thank you."

"What is the matter?"

"Luna and Noir mentioned they also liked the names I gave them."

Her tone was light, but I could tell it meant something to her. Those two were not just voices. They were people living inside her, companions tied to her soul.

"I see. That is good then."

Together, we laughed, the sound filling the room like warmth, like home.
